San Mateo 4
1 Entonces Jesús fue impulsado por el Espíritu a subir al desierto para que fuera tentado por el diablo.
Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.
2 Después de ayunar 40 días y 40 noches, tuvo hambre.
And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was hungry afterward.
3 Llegó el tentador y le dijo: Ya que eres Hijo de Dios, dí que estas piedras se conviertan en panes.
And the tempter came and said to him, "If you are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread."
4 Pero Él respondió: Está escrito: No solo de pan vivirá el hombre, sino de toda Palabra de la boca de Dios.
But he answered and said, "It is written, 'Humankind cannot live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.'"
5 Entonces el diablo lo llevó hasta la Ciudad Santa, y lo colocó en pie sobre el pináculo del Templo
Then the devil took him into the holy city. He set him on the pinnacle of the temple,
6 y le dijo: Ya que eres Hijo de Dios, lánzate abajo, porque está escrito: Te enviará a sus ángeles. Y: En sus manos te llevarán para que tu pie no tropiece en piedra.
and said to him, "If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, for it is written, 'He will put his angels in charge of you.' and, 'In their hands they will lift you up, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.'"
7 Jesús le respondió: También está escrito: No tentarás al Señor tu Dios.
Jesus said to him, "Again, it is written, 'Do not test the Lord your God.'"
8 Otra vez el diablo lo llevó a una montaña muy alta, y le mostró todos los reinos del mundo y el esplendor de ellos,
Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world, and their glory.
9 y le dijo: Todo esto te daré si te postras y me adoras.
And he said to him, "I will give you all of these things, if you will fall down and worship me."
10 Pero Jesús le respondió: Vete, Satanás, porque está escrito: Al Señor tu Dios adorarás, y solo a Él servirás.
Then Jesus said to him, "Go away, Satan. For it is written, 'You are to worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.'"
11 Entonces el diablo lo dejó. Y unos ángeles llegaron y le servían.
Then the devil left him, and look, angels came and served him.
12 Cuando Jesús oyó que Juan fue encarcelado, regresó a Galilea.
Now when he heard that John was delivered up, he withdrew into Galilee.
13 Salió de Nazaret y vivió en Cafarnaúm junto al mar, en los linderos de Zabulón y de Neftalí,
And leaving Nazareth, he came and lived in Capernaum, which is by the sea, in the region of Zebulun and Naphtali,
14 para que se cumpliera lo dicho por el profeta Isaías:
that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying,
15 Tierra de Zabulón y tierra de Neftalí, camino del mar, más allá del Jordán, Galilea de los gentiles.
"The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, toward the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the nations.
16 El pueblo que vivía en tinieblas vio gran luz. A los que moraban en región y sombra de muerte, luz les resplandeció.
The people sitting in darkness have seen a great light, and those living in the land and shadow of death, on them a light has dawned."
17 Desde entonces Jesús comenzó a predicar: Den la vuelta, porque el reino celestial se acercó.
From that time on, Jesus began to preach and say, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near."
18 Cuando andaba junto al mar de Galilea vio a dos hermanos: Simón, llamado Pedro, y su hermano Andrés, que echaban una red en el mar, porque eran pescadores.
And walking by the sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers: Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew, his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen.
19 Les dijo: Vengan conmigo, y los haré pescadores de hombres.
And he said to them, "Come, follow me, and I will make you fishers of people."
20 Ellos dejaron de inmediato las redes y lo siguieron.
And they immediately left their nets and followed him.
21 Pasó de allí y vio a otros dos hermanos: Jacobo, [hijo] de Zebedeo, y Juan su hermano, que remendaban sus redes en la barca con su padre. Y los llamó.
Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets, and he called them.
22 Ellos al instante dejaron la barca y a su padre, y lo siguieron.
And they immediately left the boat and their father, and followed him.
23 [Jesús] recorría toda Galilea y enseñaba en las congregaciones de ellos. Proclamaba las Buenas Noticias del reino y sanaba toda enfermedad y dolencia en el pueblo.
And Jesus went about in all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the Good News of the Kingdom, and healing every disease and every sickness among the people.
24 Su fama se difundió por toda Siria. Le llevaron a todos los que padecían males: afligidos por diversas enfermedades y tormentos, endemoniados, lunáticos y paralíticos. Y Él los sanó.
And the report about him went out into all Syria, and they brought to him all who were sick, afflicted with various diseases and torments, possessed with demons, and epileptics, and paralytics; and he healed them.
25 Una gran multitud lo siguió desde Galilea y Decápolis, desde Jerusalén y Judea, y desde más allá del Jordán.
And large crowds from Galilee, and Decapolis, and Jerusalem, and Judea, and from beyond the Jordan followed him.
