1 Entonces todos los hijos de Israel salieron desde Dan hasta Beerseba y la tierra de Galaad, y la congregación se reunió como un solo hombre ante Yavé en Mizpa.
And all the sons of Israel go out, and the company is assembled as one man, from Dan even unto Beer-Sheba, and the land of Gilead, unto Jehovah, at Mizpeh.
2 Los jefes de todo el pueblo, de todas las tribus de Israel, 400.000 hombres de a pie que sacaban espada, tomaron su posición en la asamblea del pueblo de ʼElohim.
And the chiefs of all the people, of all the tribes of Israel, station themselves in the assembly of the people of God, four hundred thousand footmen drawing sword.
3 Los hijos de Benjamín oyeron que los hijos de Israel habían subido a Mizpa. Los hijos de Israel dijeron: Digan cómo fue cometida esta perversidad.
And the sons of Benjamin hear that the sons of Israel have gone up to Mizpeh. And the sons of Israel say, 'Speak ye, how hath this evil been?'
4 Y el levita, el marido de la mujer asesinada, respondió: Yo llegué a Gabaa de Benjamín con mi concubina para pasar allí la noche.
And the man, the Levite, husband of the woman who hath been murdered, answereth and saith, 'Into Gibeah (which [is] to Benjamin) I have come, I and my concubine, to lodge;
5 Los hombres de Gabaa se alzaron contra mí, rodearon la casa de noche con intención de matarme, y violaron a mi concubina de tal manera que murió.
and rise against me do the masters of Gibeah — and they go round the house against me by night — me they thought to slay, and my concubine they have humbled, and she dieth;
6 Yo tomé a mi concubina, la corté en trozos y la envié por todo el territorio de la posesión de Israel, porque habían cometido aquella maldad e infamia en Israel.
and I lay hold on my concubine, and cut her in pieces, and send her into all the country of the inheritance of Israel; for they have done wickedness and folly in Israel;
7 Miren, todos ustedes los hijos de Israel están presentes. Den aquí su parecer y consejo.
lo, ye [are] all sons of Israel; give for you a word and counsel here.'
8 Entonces todo el pueblo se levantó como un solo hombre y dijeron: Ninguno de nosotros irá a su tienda, ni volverá a su casa.
And all the people rise as one man, saying, 'None of us doth go to his tent, and none of us doth turn aside to his house;
9 Esto es lo que ahora haremos en Gabaa: Iremos contra ella por sorteo.
and now, this [is] the thing which we do to Gibeah — against it by lot!
10 Tomaremos diez hombres de cada centenar de todas las tribus de Israel, y 100 de cada 1.000, y 1.000 de cada 10.000, para que lleven provisiones al pueblo, a fin de que vayan a Gabaa de Benjamín y le hagan según toda la repugnancia que cometió en Israel.
and we have taken ten men of a hundred, of all the tribes of Israel, and a hundred of a thousand, and a thousand of a myriad, to receive provision for the people, to do, at their coming to Gibeah of Benjamin, according to all the folly which it hath done in Israel.'
11 Así todos los hombres de Israel unidos se juntaron contra la ciudad como un solo hombre.
And every man of Israel is gathered unto the city, as one man — companions.
12 Y las tribus de Israel enviaron hombres por toda la tribu de Benjamín para decir: ¿Qué maldad es esta que cometieron ustedes?
And the tribes of Israel send men among all the tribes of Benjamin, saying, 'What [is] this evil which hath been among you?
13 Ahora pues, entreguen a los hombres, aquellos perversos que están en Gabaa, para que los matemos y quitemos esta infamia de Israel. Pero los hijos de Benjamín no quisieron escuchar la voz de sus hermanos, los hijos de Israel.
And now, give up the men — sons of worthlessness — which [are] in Gibeah, and we put them to death, and we put away evil from Israel.' And [the sons of] Benjamin have not been willing to hearken to the voice of their brethren, the sons of Israel;
14 Mas bien, los hijos de Benjamín salieron de sus ciudades y se reunieron en Gabaa para enfrentar en batalla a los hijos de Israel.
and the sons of Benjamin are gathered out of the cities to Gibeah, to go out to battle with the sons of Israel.
15 Fueron contados aquel día los hijos de Benjamín que salieron de las ciudades: 26.000 hombres que sacaban espada, además de los habitantes de Gabaa, donde se alistaron 700 hombres escogidos.
And the sons of Benjamin number themselves on that day; out of the cities [are] twenty and six thousand men drawing sword, apart from the inhabitants of Gibeah, [who] numbered themselves, seven hundred chosen men;
16 Entre toda esa gente estaban 700 hombres escogidos que eran zurdos. Cada uno podía tirar una piedra con la honda a un cabello y no erraba tiro.
among all this people [are] seven hundred chosen men, bound of their right hand, each of these slinging with a stone at the hair, and he doth not err.
17 Los hombres de Israel, aparte de Benjamín, ascendían a 400.000 hombres que sacaban espada, todos guerreros.
And the men of Israel numbered themselves, apart from Benjamin, four hundred thousand men, drawing sword, each of these a man of war.
18 Se levantaron los hijos de Israel y subieron a Bet-ʼEl. Consultaron a ʼElohim: ¿Quién de nosotros irá primero a combatir contra los hijos de Benjamín? Y Yavé respondió: Primero Judá.
And they rise and go up to Beth-El, and ask of God, and the sons of Israel say, 'Who doth go up for us at the commencement to battle with the sons of Benjamin?' and Jehovah saith, 'Judah — at the commencement.'
19 Por la mañana se levantaron los hijos de Israel y acamparon contra Gabaa.
And the sons of Israel rise in the morning, and encamp against Gibeah,
20 Salieron los hijos de Israel a pelear contra Benjamín, y se alinearon en orden de batalla contra ellos junto a Gabaa.
and the men of Israel go out to battle with Benjamin, and the men of Israel set themselves in array with them, [for] battle against Gibeah,
21 Pero los hijos de Benjamín salieron de Gabaa y derribaron a tierra aquel día 22.000 hombres de Israel.
and the sons of Benjamin come out from Gibeah, and destroy in Israel on that day two and twenty thousand men — to the earth.
22 Pero el pueblo, los hombres de Israel, se reanimaron y volvieron a ordenar batalla en el mismo lugar donde la habían ordenado el día anterior.
And the people, the men of Israel, strengthen themselves, and add to set the battle in array in the place where they arranged themselves on the first day.
23 Pues los hijos de Israel subieron y lloraron delante de Yavé hasta llegar la noche. Consultaron a Yavé: ¿Nos acercaremos otra vez a pelear contra los hijos de nuestro hermano Benjamín? Yavé dijo: Suban contra él.
And the sons of Israel go up and weep before Jehovah till the evening, and ask of Jehovah, saying, 'Do I add to draw nigh to battle with the sons of Benjamin, my brother?' And Jehovah saith, 'Go up against him.'
24 Entonces los hijos de Israel llegaron contra los hijos de Benjamín el segundo día.
And the sons of Israel draw near unto the sons of Benjamin on the second day,
25 Benjamín de Gabaa salió contra ellos el segundo día y otra vez cayeron a tierra 18.000 hombres de los hijos de Israel. Todos ellos sacaban espada.
and Benjamin cometh out to meet them from Gibeah on the second day, and destroy among the sons of Israel again eighteen thousand men — to the earth; all these are drawing sword.
26 Entonces todo el pueblo de los hijos de Israel subió, fueron a Bet-ʼEl y lloraron. Permanecieron allí delante de Yavé y ayunaron aquel día hasta llegar la noche. Sacrificaron holocaustos y ofrendas de paz delante de Yavé.
And all the sons of Israel go up, even all the people, and come in to Beth-El, and weep, and sit there before Jehovah, and fast on that day till the evening, and cause to ascend burnt-offerings and peace-offerings before Jehovah.
27 Consultaron los hijos de Israel a Yavé, pues el Arca del Pacto de ʼElohim estaba allí aquellos días,
And the sons of Israel ask of Jehovah, — and there [is] the ark of the covenant of God in those days,
28 y Finees, hijo de Eleazar, hijo de Aarón, ministraba ante ella en aquel tiempo. Preguntaron: ¿Volveremos a salir a luchar contra los hijos de nuestro hermano Benjamín, o desistiremos? Y Yavé dijo: ¡Suban, porque mañana lo entregaré en sus manos!
and Phinehas son of Eleazar, son of Aaron, is standing before it in those days — saying, 'Do I add again to go out to battle with the sons of Benjamin, my brother, or do I cease?' And Jehovah saith, 'Go up, for to-morrow I give him into thy hand.'
29 Entonces Israel tendió emboscadas alrededor de Gabaa.
And Israel setteth liers in wait against Gibeah, round about,
30 Al tercer día, cuando los hijos de Israel subieron contra los hijos de Benjamín, dispusieron batalla frente a Gabaa como las otras veces.
and the sons of Israel go up against the sons of Benjamin, on the third day, and arrange themselves against Gibeah, as time by time.
31 Los hijos de Benjamín salieron para enfrentarse al pueblo y se alejaron de la ciudad. Como las otras veces, comenzaron a matar a algunos de ellos en los caminos, uno de los cuales sube a Bet-ʼEl y otro a Gabaa. Así mataron en el campo a unos 30 hombres de Israel.
And the sons of Benjamin come out to meet the people; they have been drawn away out of the city, and begin to smite [some] of the people — wounded as time by time, in the highways (of which one is going up to Beth-El, and the other to Gibeah in the field), [are] about thirty men of Israel.
32 Los hijos de Benjamín decían: ¡Están vencidos ante nosotros como antes! Pero los hijos de Israel se habían dicho: Huiremos para alejarlos de la ciudad hasta los caminos.
And the sons of Benjamin say, 'They are smitten before us as at the beginning;' but the sons of Israel said, 'Let us flee, and draw them away out of the city, unto the highways.'
33 Entonces todos los de Israel se levantaron de su posición y se dispusieron en orden de batalla en Baal-tamar, mientras que la emboscada de Israel se lanzó desde su posición al oeste de Gabaa.
And all the men of Israel have risen from their place, and arrange themselves at Baal-Tamar, and the ambush of Israel is coming forth out of its place, out of the meadow of Gibeah.
34 10.000 hombres escogidos de todo Israel llegaron frente a Gabaa, y la batalla arreciaba, pero los benjaminitas no entendían que el desastre se les venía encima.
And they come in over against Gibeah — ten thousand chosen men out of all Israel — and the battle [is] grievous, and they have not known that the evil is striking against them.
35 Aquel día Yavé derrotó a Benjamín ante Israel, y los hijos de Israel mataron a 25.100 hombres de Benjamín, todos los cuales sacaban espada.
And Jehovah smiteth Benjamin before Israel, and the sons of Israel destroy in Benjamin, on that day, twenty and five thousand, and a hundred men; all these [are] drawing sword.
36 Los hijos de Benjamín vieron que eran derrotados. Sin embargo, los hijos de Israel cedieron campo a Benjamín, pues confiaban en la emboscada que pusieron contra Gabaa.
And the sons of Benjamin see that they have been smitten — and the men of Israel give place to Benjamin, for they have trusted unto the ambush which they had set against Gibeah,
37 Entonces la gente de la emboscada se apresuró y atacó a Gabaa. Se desplegó y mataron a filo de espada a toda la ciudad.
and the ambush have hasted, and push against Gibeah, and the ambush draweth itself out, and smiteth the whole of the city by the mouth of the sword.
38 Era señal convenida entre los hombres de Israel y los de la emboscada, que éstos harían subir una gran humareda desde la ciudad.
And there was the appointed sign to the men of Israel with the ambush — their causing to go up a great volume of smoke from the city.
39 Así, cuando los hombres de Israel volvieron la espalda en el combate, y los de Benjamín comenzaron a causar bajas entre los hombres de los de Israel y mataron a unos 30 hombres, pensaron: De seguro están derrotados ante nosotros como en el primer combate.
And the men of Israel turn in battle, and Benjamin hath begun to smite the wounded among the men of Israel, about thirty men, for they said, 'Surely they are utterly smitten before us, as [at] the first battle;
40 Pero cuando la humareda comenzó a subir de la ciudad, los de Benjamín miraron hacia atrás y vieron que de la ciudad subía el humo al cielo.
and the volume hath begun to go up from the city — a pillar of smoke — and Benjamin turneth behind, and lo, gone up hath the perfection of the city toward the heavens.
41 Entonces los hombres de Israel se devolvieron, mientras los de Benjamín se consternaron, pues veían que la catástrofe cayó sobre ellos.
And the men of Israel have turned, and the men of Benjamin are troubled, for they have seen that the evil hath stricken against them —
42 Por ello volvieron sus espaldas ante los hombres de Israel y tomaron el camino al desierto. Pero la batalla los alcanzó, mientras que los que salían de las ciudades eran exterminados en medio de ellas.
and they turn before the men of Israel unto the way of the wilderness, and the battle hath followed them; and those who [are] from the city are destroying them in their midst;
43 Cercaron así a los benjamitas y los persiguieron sin tregua hasta frente a Gabaa, hacia donde nace el sol.
they have compassed the Benjamites — they have pursued them — with ease they have trodden them down till over-against Gibeah, at the sun-rising.
44 De Benjamín cayeron 18.000 hombres, todos hombres valientes.
And there fall of Benjamin eighteen thousand men — the whole of these [are] men of valour;
45 Los demás se volvieron y huyeron hacia el desierto, hasta la peña de Rimón. De ellos fueron abatidos en los caminos otros 5.000 hombres, y siguieron en la persecución hasta Gidom, donde mataron a 2.000 hombres más.
and they turn and flee toward the wilderness, unto the rock of Rimmon; and they glean of them in the highways five thousand men, and follow after them unto Gidom, and smite of them two thousand men.
46 De manera que los que cayeron de Benjamín aquel día fueron 25.000 hombres que sacaban espada, todos hombres valientes.
And all those falling of Benjamin are twenty and five thousand men drawing sword, on that day — the whole of these [are] men of valour;
47 Pero 600 hombres se volvieron y huyeron hacia el desierto, hasta la peña de Rimón, y se quedaron en la peña de Rimón cuatro meses.
and there turn and flee into the wilderness, unto the rock of Rimmon six hundred men, and they dwell in the rock Rimmon four months.
48 Los de Israel se volvieron contra los hijos de Benjamín y los mataron a filo de espada, tanto hombres como animales, y todo lo que fue hallado, e incendiaron las ciudades.
And the men of Israel have turned back unto the sons of Benjamin, and smite them by the mouth of the sword out of the city, — men unto cattle, unto all that is found; also all the cities which are found they have sent into fire.
