San Lucas 4
1 Jesús, lleno del Espíritu Santo, volvió del Jordán y fue llevado por el Espíritu al desierto
Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness
2 durante cuarenta días, siendo tentado por el diablo. No comió nada en esos días. Después, cuando terminaron, tuvo hambre.
for forty days, being tempted by the devil. He ate nothing in those days. Afterward, when they were completed, he was hungry.
3 El diablo le dijo: “Si eres el Hijo de Dios, ordena que esta piedra se convierta en pan”.
The devil said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread.”
4 Jesús le contestó diciendo: “Está escrito que no sólo de pan vivirá el hombre, sino de toda palabra de Dios”.
Jesus answered him, saying, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.’”
5 El diablo, llevándolo a un monte alto, le mostró en un momento todos los reinos del mundo.
The devil, leading him up on a high mountain, showed him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.
6 El diablo le dijo: “Te daré toda esta autoridad y su gloria, porque me ha sido entregada, y la doy a quien quiero.
The devil said to him, “I will give you all this authority and their glory, for it has been delivered to me, and I give it to whomever I want.
7 Por tanto, si adoras ante mí, todo será tuyo”.
If you therefore will worship before me, it will all be yours.”
8 Jesús le respondió: “¡Quítate de encima, Satanás! Porque está escrito: ‘Al Señor tu Dios adorarás y a él sólo servirás’”.
Jesus answered him, “Get behind me, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and you shall serve him only.’”
9 Lo condujo a Jerusalén, lo puso en el pináculo del templo y le dijo: “Si eres el Hijo de Dios, échate de aquí,
He led him to Jerusalem and set him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, cast yourself down from here,
10 porque está escrito, Pondrá a sus ángeles a cargo de ti, para que te guarden;’
for it is written, ‘He will put his angels in charge of you, to guard you;’
11 y, En sus manos te llevarán, para que no tropieces con una piedra”.
and, ‘On their hands they will bear you up, lest perhaps you dash your foot against a stone.’”
12 Respondiendo Jesús, le dijo: “Se ha dicho que no tentarás al Señor tu Dios”.
Jesus answering, said to him, “It has been said, ‘You shall not tempt the Lord your God.’”
13 Cuando el demonio hubo completado todas las tentaciones, se alejó de él hasta otro momento.
When the devil had completed every temptation, he departed from him until another time.
14 Jesús regresó con el poder del Espíritu a Galilea, y la noticia sobre él se extendió por todos los alrededores.
Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee, and news about him spread through all the surrounding area.
15 Enseñaba en sus sinagogas, siendo glorificado por todos.
He taught in their synagogues, being glorified by all.
16 Llegó a Nazaret, donde se había criado. Entró, como era su costumbre, en la sinagoga en el día de reposo, y se puso de pie para leer.
He came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up. He entered, as was his custom, into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read.
17 Se le entregó el libro del profeta Isaías. Abrió el libro y encontró el lugar donde estaba escrito,
The book of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. He opened the book, and found the place where it was written,
18 “El Espíritu del Señor está sobre mí, porque me ha ungido para predicar la buena nueva a los pobres. Me ha enviado a sana a los corazonesrotos, para proclamar la liberación de los cautivos, recuperar la vista de los ciegos, para liberar a los oprimidos,
“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to heal the broken hearted, to proclaim release to the captives, recovering of sight to the blind, to deliver those who are crushed,
19 y proclamar el año de gracia del Señor.”
and to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”
20 Cerró el libro, se lo devolvió al asistente y se sentó. Los ojos de todos en la sinagoga estaban fijos en él.
He closed the book, gave it back to the attendant, and sat down. The eyes of all in the synagogue were fastened on him.
21 Comenzó a decirles: “Hoy se ha cumplido esta Escritura ante vosotros”.
He began to tell them, “Today, this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.”
22 Todos daban testimonio de él y se asombraban de las palabras de gracia que salían de su boca, y decían: “¿No es éste el hijo de José?”
All testified about him and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth; and they said, “Isn’t this Joseph’s son?”
23 Les dijo: “Seguramente me dirán este proverbio: “¡Médico, cúrate a ti mismo! Todo lo que hemos oído hacer en Cafarnaúm, hazlo también aquí en tu pueblo”.
He said to them, “Doubtless you will tell me this proverb, ‘Physician, heal yourself! Whatever we have heard done at Capernaum, do also here in your hometown.’”
24 Él dijo: “De cierto os digo que ningún profeta es aceptable en su ciudad natal.
He said, “Most certainly I tell you, no prophet is acceptable in his hometown.
25 Pero en verdad os digo que había muchas viudas en Israel en los días de Elías, cuando el cielo estuvo cerrado durante tres años y seis meses, cuando sobrevino una gran hambruna en toda la tierra.
But truly I tell you, there were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the sky was shut up three years and six months, when a great famine came over all the land.
26 A ninguna de ellas fue enviado Elías, sino a Sarepta, en la tierra de Sidón, a una mujer que era viuda.
Elijah was sent to none of them, except to Zarephath, in the land of Sidon, to a woman who was a widow.
27 Había muchos leprosos en Israel en tiempos del profeta Eliseo, pero ninguno de ellos fue limpiado, excepto Naamán, el sirio.”
There were many lepers in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet, yet not one of them was cleansed, except Naaman, the Syrian.”
28 Todos se llenaron de ira en la sinagoga al oír estas cosas.
They were all filled with wrath in the synagogue as they heard these things.
29 Se levantaron, le echaron fuera de la ciudad y le llevaron a la cima del monte sobre el que estaba edificada su ciudad, para arrojarle por el precipicio.
They rose up, threw him out of the city, and led him to the brow of the hill that their city was built on, that they might throw him off the cliff.
30 Pero él, pasando por en medio de ellos, siguió su camino.
But he, passing through the middle of them, went his way.
31 Bajó a Capernaúm, una ciudad de Galilea. Les enseñaba en sábado,
He came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee. He was teaching them on the Sabbath day,
32 y se asombraban de su enseñanza, porque su palabra era con autoridad.
and they were astonished at his teaching, for his word was with authority.
33 En la sinagoga había un hombre que tenía un espíritu de demonio inmundo; y gritaba a gran voz,
In the synagogue there was a man who had a spirit of an unclean demon; and he cried out with a loud voice,
34 diciendo: “¡Ah! ¿Qué tenemos que ver contigo, Jesús de Nazaret? ¿Has venido a destruirnos? Yo sé quién eres: el Santo de Dios”.
saying, “Ah! what have we to do with you, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are: the Holy One of God!”
35 Jesús le reprendió diciendo: “¡Cállate y sal de él!”. Cuando el demonio lo arrojó en medio de ellos, salió de él, sin hacerle ningún daño.
Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be silent and come out of him!” When the demon had thrown him down in the middle of them, he came out of him, having done him no harm.
36 El asombro se apoderó de todos y hablaban entre sí, diciendo: “¿Qué es esta palabra? Porque con autoridad y poder manda a los espíritus inmundos, y salen”.
Amazement came on all and they spoke together, one with another, saying, “What is this word? For with authority and power he commands the unclean spirits, and they come out!”
37 La noticia sobre él se difundió por todos los lugares de la región circundante.
News about him went out into every place of the surrounding region.
38 Se levantó de la sinagoga y entró en casa de Simón. La suegra de Simón estaba afligida por una gran fiebre, y le rogaron que la ayudara.
He rose up from the synagogue and entered into Simon’s house. Simon’s mother-in-law was afflicted with a great fever, and they begged him to help her.
39 Él se puso al lado de ella, reprendió la fiebre y la dejó. Al instante se levantó y les sirvió.
He stood over her and rebuked the fever, and it left her. Immediately she rose up and served them.
40 Cuando se puso el sol, todos los que tenían algún enfermo de diversas enfermedades se los trajeron, y él puso las manos sobre cada uno de ellos y los curó.
When the sun was setting, all those who had any sick with various diseases brought them to him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them.
41 También salieron demonios de muchos, gritando y diciendo: “¡Tú eres el Cristo, el Hijo de Dios!” Reprendiéndolos, no les permitió hablar, porque sabían que él era el Cristo.
Demons also came out of many, crying out and saying, “You are the Christ, the Son of God!” Rebuking them, he didn’t allow them to speak, because they knew that he was the Christ.
42 Cuando se hizo de día, partió y se fue a un lugar despoblado, y las multitudes lo buscaban y se acercaban a él, para que no se alejara de ellos.
When it was day, he departed and went into an uninhabited place and the multitudes looked for him, and came to him, and held on to him, so that he wouldn’t go away from them.
43 Pero él les dijo: “Es necesario que anuncie la buena noticia del Reino de Dios también en las demás ciudades. Para esto he sido enviado”.
But he said to them, “I must preach the good news of God’s Kingdom to the other cities also. For this reason I have been sent.”
44 Estaba predicando en las sinagogas de Galilea.
He was preaching in the synagogues of Galilee.
