San Lucas 22
1 Se acercaba la fiesta de los panes sin levadura, que se llama la Pascua.
The Feast of the Unleavened Bread, known as the Passover, was near.
2 Los jefes de los sacerdotes y los escribas buscaban la manera de condenarlo a muerte, porque temían al pueblo.
The Chief Priest and the Teachers of the Law were looking for an opportunity of destroying Jesus, for they were afraid of the people.
3 Satanás entró en Judas, que también se llamaba Iscariote, que era contado con los doce.
Now Satan took possession of Judas, who was known as Iscariot, and who belonged to the Twelve;
4 Se fue y habló con los jefes de los sacerdotes y con los capitanes sobre cómo podría entregarlo a ellos.
and he went and discussed with the Chief Priests and Officers in charge at the Temple the best way of betraying Jesus to them.
5 Ellos se alegraron y aceptaron darle dinero.
They were glad of this, and agreed to pay him.
6 Él consintió y buscó una oportunidad para entregárselo en ausencia de la multitud.
So Judas assented, and looked for an opportunity to betray Jesus to them, in the absence of a crowd.
7 Llegó el día de los panes sin levadura, en el que debía sacrificarse la Pascua.
When the day of the Festival of the Unleavened Bread came, on which the Passover lambs had to be killed,
8 Jesús envió a Pedro y a Juan, diciendo: “Id y preparadnos la Pascua para que comamos.”
Jesus sent forward Peter and John, saying to them: “Go and make preparations for our eating the Passover.”
9 Le dijeron: “¿Dónde quieres que nos preparemos?”
“Where do you wish us to make preparations?” they asked.
10 Les dijo: “Mirad, cuando hayáis entrado en la ciudad, os saldrá al encuentro un hombre que lleva un cántaro de agua. Seguidle hasta la casa en la que entre.
“Listen,” he answered, “when you have got into the city, a man carrying a pitcher of water will meet you; follow him into whatever house he enters;
11 Decid al dueño de la casa: “El Maestro os dice: “¿Dónde está la habitación de los invitados, donde pueda comer la Pascua con mis discípulos?””.
and you shall say to the owner of the house ‘The Teacher says to you — Where is the room where I am to eat the Passover with my disciples?’
12 Él te mostrará una habitación superior grande y amueblada. Haz los preparativos allí”.
The man will show you a large upstairs room, set out; there make preparations.”
13 Fueron, encontraron las cosas como Jesús les había dicho, y prepararon la Pascua.
So Peter and John went on, and found everything just as Jesus had told them, and they prepared the Passover.
14 Cuando llegó la hora, se sentó con los doce apóstoles.
When the time came, Jesus took his place at table, and the Apostles with him.
15 Les dijo: “Con cuánto anhelo he deseado comer esta Pascua con vosotros antes de sufrir,
“I have most earnestly wished,” he said, “to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.
16 porque os digo que ya no comeré de ella hasta que se cumpla en el Reino de Dios.”
For I tell you that I shall not eat it again, until it has had its fulfilment in the Kingdom of God.”
17 Recibió una copa y, después de dar gracias, dijo: “Tomad y compartidla entre vosotros,
Then, on receiving a cup, after saying the thanksgiving, he said:
18 porque os digo que no volveré a beber del fruto de la vid hasta que venga el Reino de Dios.”
“Take this and share it among you. For I tell you that I shall not, after to-day, drink of the juice of the grape, till the Kingdom of God has come.”
19 Tomó el pan y, después de dar gracias, lo partió y les dio diciendo: “Esto es mi cuerpo que se entrega por vosotros. Haced esto en memoria mía”.
Then Jesus took some bread, and, after saying the thanksgiving, broke it and gave to them, with the words: “This is my body, [which is now to be given on your behalf. Do this in memory of me.”]
20 Asimismo, tomó la copa después de la cena, diciendo: “Esta copa es él nuevo pacto en mi sangre, que se derrama por vosotros.
[And in the same way with the cup, after supper, saying: “This cup is the New Covenant made by my blood which is being poured out on your behalf. ]
21 Pero he aquí que la mano del que me traiciona está conmigo sobre la mesa.
Yet see! the hand of the man that is betraying me is beside me upon the table!
22 El Hijo del Hombre, en efecto, se va como ha sido determinado, pero ¡ay de aquel hombre por quien es entregado!”
True, the Son of Man is passing, by the way ordained for him, yet alas for that man by whom he is being betrayed!”
23 Empezaron a preguntarse entre ellos quién era el que iba a hacer esto.
Then they began questioning one another which of them it could be that was going to do this.
24 También surgió una disputa entre ellos, sobre cuál de ellos se consideraba más grande.
And a dispute arose among them as to which of them was to be regarded as the greatest.
25 Él les dijo: “Los reyes de las naciones se enseñorean de ellas, y los que tienen autoridad sobre ellas son llamados “benefactores”.
Jesus, however, said: “The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their oppressors are styled ‘Benefactors.’
26 Pero no es así con ustedes. Más bien, el que es mayor entre vosotros, que se haga como el más joven, y el que gobierna, como el que sirve.
But with you it must not be so. No, let the greatest among you become like the youngest, and him who leads like him who serves.
27 Porque ¿quién es mayor, el que se sienta a la mesa o el que sirve? ¿No es el que se sienta a la mesa? Pero yo estoy entre vosotros como uno que sirve.
Which is the greater — the master at the table or his servant? Is not it the master at the table? Yet I myself am among you as one who serves.
28 “Pero vosotros sois los que habéis continuado conmigo en mis pruebas.
You are the men who have stood by me in my trials;
29 Yo os confiero un reino, como me lo confirió mi Padre,
and, just as my Father has assigned me a Kingdom, I assign you places,
30 para que comáis y bebáis en mi mesa en mi Reino. Os sentaréis en tronos para juzgar a las doce tribus de Israel”.
so that you may eat and drink at my table in my Kingdom, and be seated upon twelve thrones as judges of the twelve tribes of Israel.
31 El Señor dijo: “Simón, Simón, he aquí que Satanás pedía disponer de todos vosotros para zarandearos como el trigo,
Simon! Simon! listen. Satan demanded leave to sift you all like wheat,
32 pero yo he rogado por ti, para que tu fe no desfallezca. Tú, cuando te hayas convertido de nuevo, confirma a tus hermanos”.
but I prayed for you, Simon, that your faith should not fail. And you, when you have returned to me, are to strengthen your Brothers.”
33 Le dijo: “Señor, estoy dispuesto a ir contigo a la cárcel y a la muerte”.
“Master,” said Peter, “with you I am ready to go both to prison and to death.”
34 Él dijo: “Te digo, Pedro, que el gallo no cantará hoy hasta que niegues que me conoces tres veces”.
“I tell you, Peter,” replied Jesus, “the cock will not crow to-day till you have disowned all knowledge of me three times.”
35 Les dijo: “Cuando os envié sin bolsa, sin alforja y sin sandalias, ¿os faltó algo?” Dijeron: “Nada”.
Then he said to them all: “When I sent you out as my Messengers, without either purse, or bag, or sandals, were you in need of anything?” “No; nothing,” they answered.
36 Entonces les dijo: “Pero ahora, quien tenga una bolsa, que la tome, y también una alforja. El que no tenga, que venda su manto y compre una espada.
“Now, however,” he said, “he who has a purse must take it and his bag as well; and he who has not must sell his cloak and buy a sword.
37 Porque os digo que aún debe cumplirse en mí lo que está escrito: ‘Fue contado con los transgresores’. Porque lo que me concierne se está cumpliendo”.
For, I tell you, that passage of Scripture must be fulfilled in me, which says — ‘He was counted among the godless’; indeed all that refers to me is finding its fulfilment.”
38 Dijeron: “Señor, he aquí dos espadas”. Les dijo: “Es suficiente”.
“Master,” they exclaimed, “look, here are two swords!” “Enough!” said Jesus.
39 Salió y se dirigió, como era su costumbre, al Monte de los Olivos. Sus discípulos también le siguieron.
Jesus then went out, and made his way as usual to the Mount of Olives, followed by his disciples.
40 Cuando llegó al lugar, les dijo: “Orad para que no entréis en tentación”.
And, when he reached the spot, he said to them: “Pray that you may not fall into temptation.”
41 Se apartó de ellos como a un tiro de piedra, y se arrodilló y oró,
Then he withdrew about a stone’s throw, and knelt down and began to pray.
42 diciendo: “Padre, si quieres, aparta de mí esta copa. Sin embargo, no se haga mi voluntad, sino la tuya”.
“Father,” he said, “if it is thy pleasure, spare me this cup; only, not my will but thine be done.”
43 Se le apareció un ángel del cielo que lo fortaleció.
Presently there appeared to him an angel from Heaven, who strengthened him.
44 Estando en agonía, oró con más ahínco. Su sudor se convirtió en grandes gotas de sangre que caían al suelo.
And, as his anguish became intense, he prayed still more earnestly, while his sweat was like great drops of blood falling on the ground.
45 Cuando se levantó de su oración, se acercó a los discípulos y los encontró durmiendo a causa del dolor,
Then he rose from praying, and came to the disciples and found them sleeping for sorrow.
46 y les dijo: “¿Por qué dormís? Levantaos y orad para no entrar en la tentación”.
“Why are you asleep?” he asked them. “Rise and pray, that you may not fall into temptation.”
47 Mientras aún hablaba, apareció una multitud. El que se llamaba Judas, uno de los doce, los guiaba. Se acercó a Jesús para besarlo.
While he was still speaking, a crowd appeared in sight, led by the man called Judas, who was one of the Twelve. Judas approached Jesus, to kiss him;
48 Pero Jesús le dijo: “Judas, ¿traicionas al Hijo del Hombre con un beso?”
on which Jesus said to him: “Judas, is it by a kiss that you betray the Son of Man?”
49 Cuando los que estaban a su alrededor vieron lo que iba a suceder, le dijeron: “Señor, ¿herimos con la espada?”
But when those who were round Jesus saw what was going to happen, they exclaimed: “Master, shall we use our swords?”
50 Uno de ellos hirió al siervo del sumo sacerdote y le cortó la oreja derecha.
And one of them struck the High Priest’s servant and cut off his right ear;
51 Pero Jesús respondió: “Déjame al menos hacer esto”, y tocando su oreja lo sanó.
on which Jesus said: “Let me at least do this”; and, touching his ear, he healed the wound.
52 Jesús dijo a los jefes de los sacerdotes, a los capitanes del templo y a los ancianos que habían venido contra él: “¿Habéis salido como contra un ladrón, con espadas y palos?
Then, turning to the Chief Priests and Officers in charge at the Temple and Councillors, who had come for him, he said: “Have you come out, as if after a robber, with swords and clubs?
53 Cuando estaba con ustedes en el templo cada día, no extendían sus manos contra mí. Pero esta es vuestra hora, y el poder de las tinieblas”.
When I was with you day after day in the Temple Courts, you did not lay hands on me; but now your time has come, and the power of Darkness.”
54 Lo agarraron, lo llevaron y lo metieron en la casa del sumo sacerdote. Pero Pedro lo seguía de lejos.
Those who had taken Jesus prisoner took him away into the house of the High Priest. Peter followed at a distance.
55 Cuando encendieron el fuego en medio del patio y se sentaron juntos, Pedro se sentó entre ellos.
But, when they had lit a fire in the centre of the court-yard and had all sat down there, Peter seated himself in the middle of them.
56 Una sirvienta le vio sentado a la luz, y mirándole fijamente, dijo: “También éste estaba con él.”
Presently a maidservant saw him sitting near the blaze of the fire. Fixing her eyes on him, she said: “Why, this man was one of his companions!”
57 Negó a Jesús, diciendo: “Mujer, no lo conozco”.
But Peter denied it. “I do not know him,” he replied.
58 Al cabo de un rato, otro le vio y le dijo: “¡También tú eres uno de ellos!” Pero Pedro respondió: “¡Hombre, no lo soy!”.
A little while afterwards some one else — a man — saw him and said: “Why, you are one of them!” “No,” Peter said, “I am not.”
59 Al cabo de una hora aproximadamente, otro afirmó con confianza, diciendo: “¡Verdaderamente este hombre también estaba con él, pues es galileo!”
About an hour later another man declared positively: “This man also was certainly with him. Why, he is a Galilean!”
60 Pero Pedro dijo: “¡Hombre, no sé de qué estás hablando!”. Inmediatamente, mientras aún hablaba, cantó un gallo.
But Peter said: “I do not know what you are speaking about.” Instantly, while he was still speaking, a cock crowed.
61 El Señor se volvió y miró a Pedro. Entonces Pedro se acordó de la palabra del Señor, de cómo le había dicho: “Antes de que cante el gallo me negarás tres veces”.
And the Master turned and looked at Peter; and Peter remembered the words that the Master had said to him — “Before a cock has crowed to-day, you will disown me three times”;
62 Salió y lloró amargamente.
and he went outside and wept bitterly.
63 Los hombres que retenían a Jesús se burlaban de él y lo golpeaban.
The men that held Jesus kept making sport of him and beating him.
64 Después de vendarle los ojos, le golpearon en la cara y le preguntaron: “¡Profetiza! ¿Quién es el que te ha golpeado?”
They blindfolded him and then questioned him. “Now play the Prophet,” they said; “who was it that struck you?”
65 Dijeron muchas otras cosas contra él, insultándolo.
And they heaped many other insults on him.
66 Cuando se hizo de día, se reunió la asamblea de los ancianos del pueblo, tanto de los sumos sacerdotes como de los escribas, y le llevaron a su consejo, diciendo:
At daybreak the National Council met — both the Chief Priests and the Teachers of the Law — and took Jesus before their High Council.
67 “Si eres el Cristo, dínoslo”. Pero él les dijo: “Si os lo digo, no creeréis,
“If you are the Christ,” they said, “tell us so.” “If I tell you,” replied Jesus, “you will not believe me;
68 y si os lo pido, no me responderéis ni me dejaréis ir.
and, if I question you, you will not answer.
69 Desde ahora, el Hijo del Hombre estará sentado a la derecha del poder de Dios.”
But from this hour ‘the Son of Man will be seated on the right hand of God Almighty.’”
70 Todos dijeron: “¿Eres entonces el Hijo de Dios?” Les dijo: “Lo decís vosotros, porque yo lo soy”.
“Are you, then, the Son of God?” they all asked. “It is true,” answered Jesus, “I am.”
71 Dijeron: “¿Por qué necesitamos más testigos? Porque nosotros mismos hemos oído de su propia boca”.
At this they exclaimed: “Why do we want any more evidence? We have heard it ourselves from his own lips!”
