Eclesiastés 11
1 Echa tu pan a las aguas; porque lo encontrarás después de muchos días.
Cast your bread on the waters; for you shall find it after many days.
2 Da una porción a siete, sí, incluso a ocho; porque no sabes qué mal habrá en la tierra.
Give a portion to seven, yes, even to eight; for you don’t know what evil will be on the earth.
3 Si las nubes están llenas de lluvia, se vacían sobre la tierra; y si un árbol cae hacia el sur, o hacia el norte, en el lugar donde caiga el árbol, allí estará.
If the clouds are full of rain, they empty themselves on the earth; and if a tree falls towards the south, or towards the north, in the place where the tree falls, there shall it be.
4 El que observa el viento no sembrará; y el que mira las nubes no cosechará.
He who observes the wind won’t sow; and he who regards the clouds won’t reap.
5 Como no sabes cuál es el camino del viento, ni cómo crecen los huesos en el vientre de la que está encinta; aun así no conoces la obra de Dios que lo hace todo.
As you don’t know what is the way of the wind, nor how the bones grow in the womb of her who is with child; even so you don’t know the work of God who does all.
6 Por la mañana siembra tu semilla, y por la noche no retengas tu mano; pues no sabes qué prosperará, si esto o aquello, o si ambos serán igual de buenos.
In the morning sow your seed, and in the evening don’t withhold your hand; for you don’t know which will prosper, whether this or that, or whether they both will be equally good.
7 En verdad la luz es dulce, y es algo agradable para los ojos ver el sol.
Truly the light is sweet, and it is a pleasant thing for the eyes to see the sun.
8 Sí, si un hombre vive muchos años, que se alegre de todos ellos; pero que se acuerde de los días de oscuridad, porque serán muchos. Todo lo que viene es vanidad.
Yes, if a man lives many years, let him rejoice in them all; but let him remember the days of darkness, for they shall be many. All that comes is vanity.
9 Alégrate, joven, de tu juventud, y que tu corazón te alegre en los días de tu juventud, y camina por los caminos de tu corazón, y a la vista de tus ojos; pero sabed que por todas estas cosas Dios os llevará a juicio.
Rejoice, young man, in your youth, and let your heart cheer you in the days of your youth, and walk in the ways of your heart, and in the sight of your eyes; but know that for all these things God will bring you into judgement.
10 Por lo tanto, aleja la tristeza de tu corazón, y aleja el mal de tu carne; porque la juventud y el amanecer de la vida son vanidad.
Therefore remove sorrow from your heart, and put away evil from your flesh; for youth and the dawn of life are vanity.
