Daniel 11

1 “En cuanto a mí, en el primer año de Darío el Medo, me levanté para confirmarlo y fortalecerlo.

Also I in the first year of Darius the Mede, even I, stood to confirm and to strengthen him.

2 “Ahora te mostraré la verdad. He aquí que otros tres reyes se levantarán en Persia. El cuarto será mucho más rico que todos ellos. Cuando se haya hecho fuerte gracias a sus riquezas, se alzará contra el reino de Grecia.

And now will I show you the truth. Behold, there shall stand up yet three kings in Persia; and the fourth shall be far richer than they all: and by his strength through his riches he shall stir up all against the realm of Grecia.

3 Se levantará un rey poderoso que gobernará con gran dominio y hará su voluntad.

And a mighty king shall stand up, that shall rule with great dominion, and do according to his will.

4 Cuando se levante, su reino se romperá y se repartirá hacia los cuatro vientos del cielo, pero no para su posteridad, ni según su dominio con el que gobernó; porque su reino será arrancado, incluso para otros además de éstos.

And when he shall stand up, his kingdom shall be broken, and shall be divided toward the four winds of heaven; and not to his posterity, nor according to his dominion which he ruled: for his kingdom shall be plucked up, even for others beside those.

5 “El rey del sur se hará fuerte. Uno de sus príncipes se hará más fuerte que él, y tendrá dominio. Su dominio será un gran dominio.

And the king of the south shall be strong, and one of his princes; and he shall be strong above him, and have dominion; his dominion shall be a great dominion.

6 Al final de los años se unirán; y la hija del rey del sur vendrá al rey del norte para hacer un acuerdo, pero no conservará la fuerza de su brazo. Tampoco él se mantendrá en pie, ni su brazo; sino que ella será entregada, con los que la trajeron, y el que se hizo padre de ella, y el que la fortaleció en aquellos tiempos.

And in the end of years they shall join themselves together; for the king’s daughter of the south shall come to the king of the north to make an agreement: but she shall not retain the power of the arm; neither shall he stand, nor his arm: but she shall be given up, and they that brought her, and he that begat her, and he that strengthened her in these times.

7 “Pero de un brote de sus raíces se levantará uno en su lugar, que vendrá al ejército y entrará en la fortaleza del rey del norte, y tratará contra ellos y vencerá.

But out of a branch of her roots shall one stand up in his estate, which shall come with an army, and shall enter into the fortress of the king of the north, and shall deal against them, and shall prevail:

8 También llevará cautivos a Egipto a sus dioses con sus imágenes fundidas, y con sus buenos objetos de plata y de oro. Se abstendrá algunos años del rey del norte.

And shall also carry captives into Egypt their gods, with their princes, and with their precious vessels of silver and of gold; and he shall continue more years than the king of the north.

9 Llegará al reino del rey del sur, pero volverá a su tierra.

So the king of the south shall come into his kingdom, and shall return into his own land.

10 Sus hijos harán la guerra y reunirán una multitud de grandes fuerzas que vendrán, se desbordarán y pasarán. Volverán y harán la guerra hasta su fortaleza.

But his sons shall be stirred up, and shall assemble a multitude of great forces: and one shall certainly come, and overflow, and pass through: then shall he return, and be stirred up, even to his fortress.

11 “El rey del sur se enfurecerá y saldrá a luchar con él, incluso con el rey del norte. Enviará una gran multitud, y la multitud será entregada en su mano.

And the king of the south shall be moved with choler, and shall come forth and fight with him, even with the king of the north: and he shall set forth a great multitude; but the multitude shall be given into his hand.

12 La multitud será llevada, y su corazón será exaltado. Derribará a decenas de miles, pero no prevalecerá.

And when he has taken away the multitude, his heart shall be lifted up; and he shall cast down many ten thousands: but he shall not be strengthened by it.

13 El rey del norte volverá y enviará una multitud mayor que la anterior. Vendrá al final de los tiempos, incluso de los años, con un gran ejército y con abundantes provisiones.

For the king of the north shall return, and shall set forth a multitude greater than the former, and shall certainly come after certain years with a great army and with much riches.

14 “En esos tiempos muchos se levantarán contra el rey del sur. También los hijos de los violentos de tu pueblo se levantarán para establecer la visión, pero caerán.

And in those times there shall many stand up against the king of the south: also the robbers of your people shall exalt themselves to establish the vision; but they shall fall.

15 Entonces el rey del norte vendrá y levantará un montículo y tomará una ciudad bien fortificada. Las fuerzas del sur no resistirán, ni sus tropas selectas, ni habrá fuerza para resistir.

So the king of the north shall come, and cast up a mount, and take the most fenced cities: and the arms of the south shall not withstand, neither his chosen people, neither shall there be any strength to withstand.

16 Pero el que venga contra él hará según su voluntad, y nadie podrá resistir ante él. Se parará en la tierra gloriosa, y la destrucción estará en su mano.

But he that comes against him shall do according to his own will, and none shall stand before him: and he shall stand in the glorious land, which by his hand shall be consumed.

17 Él pondrá su rostro para venir con la fuerza de todo su reino, y con él condiciones equitativas. Las cumplirá. Le dará la hija de las mujeres, para destruir el reino, pero ella no se mantendrá en pie, y no será para él.

He shall also set his face to enter with the strength of his whole kingdom, and upright ones with him; thus shall he do: and he shall give him the daughter of women, corrupting her: but she shall not stand on his side, neither be for him.

18 Después de esto, volverá su rostro hacia las islas, y tomará a muchos, pero un príncipe hará que cese el reproche ofrecido por él. Más aún, hará que su reproche se vuelva contra él.

After this shall he turn his face to the isles, and shall take many: but a prince for his own behalf shall cause the reproach offered by him to cease; without his own reproach he shall cause it to turn on him.

19 Entonces volverá su rostro hacia las fortalezas de su propia tierra; pero tropezará y caerá, y no será encontrado.

Then he shall turn his face toward the fort of his own land: but he shall stumble and fall, and not be found.

20 “Entonces se levantará en su lugar uno que hará pasar a un recaudador de impuestos por el reino para mantener su gloria; pero en pocos días será destruido, no en la ira ni en la batalla.

Then shall stand up in his estate a raiser of taxes in the glory of the kingdom: but within few days he shall be destroyed, neither in anger, nor in battle.

21 “En su lugar se levantará una persona despreciable, a la que no habían dado el honor del reino; pero vendrá en tiempo de seguridad, y obtendrá el reino mediante lisonjas.

And in his estate shall stand up a vile person, to whom they shall not give the honor of the kingdom: but he shall come in peaceably, and obtain the kingdom by flatteries.

22 Las fuerzas abrumadoras se verán desbordadas ante él, y serán quebrantadas. Sí, también el príncipe de la alianza.

And with the arms of a flood shall they be overflowed from before him, and shall be broken; yes, also the prince of the covenant.

23 Después del tratado hecho con él, obrará con engaño; porque subirá y se hará fuerte con poca gente.

And after the league made with him he shall work deceitfully: for he shall come up, and shall become strong with a small people.

24 En tiempo de seguridad vendrá incluso sobre los lugares más gordos de la provincia. Hará lo que no hicieron sus padres, ni los padres de sus padres. Esparcirá entre ellos presas, saqueos y riquezas. Sí, ideará sus planes contra las fortalezas, pero sólo por un tiempo.

He shall enter peaceably even on the fattest places of the province; and he shall do that which his fathers have not done, nor his fathers’ fathers; he shall scatter among them the prey, and spoil, and riches: yes, and he shall forecast his devices against the strong holds, even for a time.

25 “Él despertará su poder y su coraje contra el rey del sur con un gran ejército; y el rey del sur entablará la guerra en la batalla con un ejército sumamente grande y poderoso, pero no resistirá, porque idearán planes contra él.

And he shall stir up his power and his courage against the king of the south with a great army; and the king of the south shall be stirred up to battle with a very great and mighty army; but he shall not stand: for they shall forecast devices against him.

26 Sí, los que coman de sus manjares lo destruirán, y su ejército será barrido. Muchos caerán muertos.

Yes, they that feed of the portion of his meat shall destroy him, and his army shall overflow: and many shall fall down slain.

27 En cuanto a estos dos reyes, su corazón será para hacer el mal, y hablarán mentiras en una mesa; pero no prosperará, porque el fin será todavía en el tiempo señalado.

And both of these kings’ hearts shall be to do mischief, and they shall speak lies at one table; but it shall not prosper: for yet the end shall be at the time appointed.

28 Entonces volverá a su tierra con grandes riquezas. Su corazón estará en contra del pacto sagrado. Tomará medidas y regresará a su tierra.

Then shall he return into his land with great riches; and his heart shall be against the holy covenant; and he shall do exploits, and return to his own land.

29 “Volverá al tiempo señalado y entrará en el sur; pero no será en el último tiempo como en el primero.

At the time appointed he shall return, and come toward the south; but it shall not be as the former, or as the latter.

30 Porque vendrán contra él barcos de Kittim. Por tanto, se afligirá, y volverá, y tendrá indignación contra el santo pacto, y tomará medidas. Incluso volverá, y tendrá consideración con los que abandonan el santo pacto.

For the ships of Chittim shall come against him: therefore he shall be grieved, and return, and have indignation against the holy covenant: so shall he do; he shall even return, and have intelligence with them that forsake the holy covenant.

31 “Fuerzas de él profanarán el santuario, incluso la fortaleza, y quitarán el holocausto continuo. Entonces levantarán la abominación desoladora.

And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that makes desolate.

32 Corromperá con lisonjas a los que obran con maldad contra el pacto; pero el pueblo que conoce a su Dios será fuerte y actuará.

And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.

33 “Los sabios del pueblo instruirán a muchos; pero caerán por la espada y por las llamas, por el cautiverio y por el saqueo, muchos días.

And they that understand among the people shall instruct many: yet they shall fall by the sword, and by flame, by captivity, and by spoil, many days.

34 Cuando caigan, serán ayudados con un poco de ayuda; pero muchos se unirán a ellos con lisonjas.

Now when they shall fall, they shall be helped with a little help: but many shall join to them with flatteries.

35 Algunos de los sabios caerán, para refinarlos y purificarlos y emblanquecerlos, hasta el tiempo del fin, porque todavía es para el tiempo señalado.

And some of them of understanding shall fall, to try them, and to purge, and to make them white, even to the time of the end: because it is yet for a time appointed.

36 “El rey hará según su voluntad. Se exaltará a sí mismo y se engrandecerá por encima de todo dios, y hablará cosas maravillosas contra el Dios de los dioses. Prosperará hasta que se cumpla la indignación, pues se hará lo que está decidido.

And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvelous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done.

37 No mirará a los dioses de sus padres, ni al deseo de las mujeres, ni mirará a ningún dios, porque se engrandecerá por encima de todos.

Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god: for he shall magnify himself above all.

38 Pero en lugar de ellos, honrará al dios de las fortalezas. Honrará a un dios que sus padres no conocieron con oro, plata, piedras preciosas y cosas agradables.

But in his estate shall he honor the God of forces: and a god whom his fathers knew not shall he honor with gold, and silver, and with precious stones, and pleasant things.

39 Se enfrentará a las fortalezas más fuertes con la ayuda de un dios extranjero. Aumentará con gloria a quien lo reconozca. Hará que gobiernen sobre muchos, y repartirá la tierra por un precio.

Thus shall he do in the most strong holds with a strange god, whom he shall acknowledge and increase with glory: and he shall cause them to rule over many, and shall divide the land for gain.

40 “En el tiempo del fin, el rey del sur contenderá con él; y el rey del norte vendrá contra él como un torbellino, con carros, con jinetes y con muchos barcos. Entrará en los países, los desbordará y los atravesará.

And at the time of the end shall the king of the south push at him: and the king of the north shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over.

41 Entrará también en la tierra gloriosa, y muchos países serán derribados; pero éstos serán librados de su mano: Edom, Moab y el jefe de los hijos de Amón.

He shall enter also into the glorious land, and many countries shall be overthrown: but these shall escape out of his hand, even Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon.

42 También extenderá su mano sobre los países. La tierra de Egipto no escapará.

He shall stretch forth his hand also on the countries: and the land of Egypt shall not escape.

43 Pero tendrá poder sobre los tesoros de oro y de plata, y sobre todas las cosas preciosas de Egipto. Los libios y los etíopes seguirán sus pasos.

But he shall have power over the treasures of gold and of silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt: and the Libyans and the Ethiopians shall be at his steps.

44 Pero noticias del este y del norte lo perturbarán; y saldrá con gran furia para destruir y arrasar a muchos.

But tidings out of the east and out of the north shall trouble him: therefore he shall go forth with great fury to destroy, and utterly to make away many.

45 Plantará las tiendas de su palacio entre el mar y el glorioso monte santo; pero llegará a su fin, y nadie lo ayudará.

And he shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him.
