San Lucas 4
1 Jesús, lleno del Espíritu Santo, regresó del Jordán y fue guiado por el Espíritu en el desierto,
And, Jesus, full of Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan, and was led in the Spirit in the desert,
2 donde fue tentado por el diablo por cuarenta días. No comió nada durante todo ese tiempo, así que al final ya tenía mucha hambre.
forty days, —being tempted by the adversary; and he did eat nothing in those days, —and, when they were concluded, he hungered.
3 El diablo le dijo: “Si eres el hijo de Dios, ordena a esta piedra que se convierta en pan”.
And the adversary said to him—If thou art God’s, Son, speak unto this stone; that it become bread.
4 “Está escrito en la Escritura: ‘No vivirás solo de pan,’” respondió Jesús.
And Jesus made answer unto him—It is written: Not, on bread alone, shall, man, live.
5 El diablo lo llevó a un lugar alto, y en un abrir y cerrar de ojos le mostró todos los reinos del mundo.
And, leading him up, he shewed him all the kingdoms of the inhabited earth, in a moment of time.
6 Entonces el diablo le dijo a Jesús: “Te daré autoridad sobre todos esos reinos y su gloria. Esta autoridad se me ha entregado a mí, y yo puedo dársela a quien yo quiera.
And the adversary said to him—Unto thee, will I give this authority, all together, and their glory; because, unto me, hath it been delivered up, and, to whomsoever I please, I give it:
7 Arrodíllate y adórame y podrás tenerlo todo”.
Thou, therefore, if thou wilt worship before me, it shall all, be thine.
8 “Está escrito en la Escritura: ‘Adorarás al Señor tu Dios, y solo a él servirás,’” respondió Jesús.
And, answering, Jesus said to him—It is written: The Lord thy God, shalt thou worship, and, unto him alone, render divine service.
9 El diablo llevó a Jesús a Jerusalén, lo puso en la parte más alta del Templo y le dijo: “Si eres el Hijo de Dios, ¡tírate!
And he led him into Jerusalem, and set him upon the pinnacle of the temple, —and said [to him]—If thou art God’s, Son, cast thyself, from hence, down;
10 Porque está escrito en la Escritura: ‘Él mandará a sus ángeles para que cuiden de ti,
for it is written—Unto his messengers, will he give command concerning thee, to keep vigilant watch over thee, —
11 para que te sostengan y tu pie no tropiece’”.
And, On hands, will they take thee up, lest once thou strike, against a stone, thy foot.
12 “Está escrito en la Escritura: ‘No tentarás al Señor tu Dios,’” respondió Jesús.
And Jesus, answering, said to him—It is said: Thou shalt not put to the test the Lord thy God.
13 Y cuando el diablo no tuvo más tentaciones para él, se quedó esperando otra oportunidad.
And, having concluded every temptation, the adversary departed from him until a fitting season.
14 Entonces Jesús regresó a Galilea, lleno del poder del Espíritu. Y la noticia sobre él se difundió por todas partes.
And Jesus returned, in the power of the Spirit, into Galilee; and, a report, went out along the whole of the region, concerning him;
15 Jesús enseñaba en sus sinagogas, y todo el mundo lo alababa.
and, he, began teaching in their synagogues, being glorified by all.
16 Cuando llegó a Nazaret, la ciudad donde había crecido, entró el sábado a la sinagoga como de costumbre.
And he came into Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and entered, according to his custom, on the sabbath day, into the synagogue, —and stood up to read.
17 Y le entregaron el rollo del profeta Isaías. Entonces Jesús lo desenrolló y encontró el lugar donde dice:
And there was handed to him a scroll of the prophet Isaiah; and unfolding the scroll, he found the place where it was written:
18 “El Espíritu del Señor está sobre mí, porque me ha ungido para anunciar la buena noticia al menesteroso. Me ha enviado para proclamar que los prisioneros serán puestos en libertad, los ciegos verán, los oprimidos serán liberados,
The Spirit of the Lord, is upon me, because he hath anointed me—to tell glad tidings unto the destitute; He hath sent me forth, —To proclaim, to captives, a release, and, to the blind, a recovering of sight, —to send away the crushed, with a release;
19 y para proclamar el tiempo del favor del Señor”.
To proclaim the welcome year of the Lord.
20 Volvió a enrollarlo y lo devolvió al encargado. Entonces se sentó. Y todos en la sinagoga lo miraban.
And, folding up the scroll, he handed it to the attendant, and sat down; and, the eyes of all, in the synagogue, were intently fixed upon him;
21 “Esta Escritura que acaban de oír se ha cumplido hoy”, les dijo.
and he began to be saying to them—This day, is fulfilled this scripture, in your ears.
22 Y todos expresaron su aprobación hacia él, asombrados por las palabras que salieron de sus labios. “¿Acaso no es este el hijo de José?” se preguntaban ellos.
And, all, were bearing witness to him, and marvelling at the words of favour which were proceeding out of his mouth; and they were saying—Is not, this, the, son of Joseph?
23 Jesús respondió: “Estoy seguro de que ustedes me repetirán este proverbio: ‘Médico, ¡cúrate a ti mismo!’ y preguntarán: ‘¿Por qué no haces aquí en tu propia ciudad lo que oímos que hiciste en Capernaúm?’
And he said unto them—By all means, ye will speak to me this similitude: Physician! heal, thyself, —Whatsoever things we have heard of coming to pass in Capernaum, do here also, in thine own country.
24 Pero yo les digo la verdad, ningún profeta es aceptado en su propia ciudad.
And he said—Verily, I say unto you, No prophet, is, welcome, in his own country,
25 Les aseguro que hubo muchas viudas en Israel durante el tiempo de Elías, cuando hubo una sequía por tres años y medio que causó una gran hambruna por todo el país.
And, of a truth, I say unto you—Many widows, were in the days of Elijah, in Israel, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when there came a great famine upon all the land;
26 Sin embargo, Elías no fue enviado donde ninguna de ellas. Sino que fue enviado a una viuda en Sarepta, ¡en la región de Sidón!
And, unto none of them, was Elijah sent, save unto Sarepta of Sidonia, unto a woman that was a widow.
27 Y aunque había muchos leprosos en Israel durante el tiempo de Eliseo, ¡el único que fue sanado fue Naamán, el sirio!”
And, many lepers, were in Israel, in the time of Elisha the prophet, and, not one of them, was cleansed, save Naaman the Syrian.
28 Cuando oyeron esto, todos los que estaban en la sinagoga se enfurecieron.
And all were filled with wrath, in the synagogue, as they heard these things.
29 De un salto se pusieron de pie y lo llevaron fuera de la ciudad. Entonces lo agarraron con violencia y lo llevaron hasta la cima de la montaña sobre la cual estaba construida la ciudad, para lanzarlo del peñasco.
And, rising up, they thrust him forth outside the city, and led him as far as a brow of the hill on which their city was built, —so that they might throw him down headlong.
30 Pero él caminó en medio de ellos y siguió su camino.
But, he, passing through the midst of them, went his way.
31 Entonces Jesús descendió a Capernaúm, una ciudad de Galilea. Y comenzó a enseñarles un sábado.
And he came down into Capernaum, a city of Galilee. And he was teaching them on the sabbath;
32 Ellos estaban sorprendidos por lo que enseñaba porque hablaba con autoridad.
and they were being struck with astonishment at his teaching, because, with authority, was his word.
33 En la sinagoga había un hombre que estaba poseído por un demonio. Y gritaba:
And, in the synagogue, was a man having a spirit of an impure demon; and he cried out with a loud voice—
34 “¿Qué quieres con nosotros, Jesús de Nazaret? ¿Has venido a destruirnos? Yo sé quién eres: ¡El Santo de Dios!”
Let be! What have we in common with thee, O Jesus, Nazarene! Hast thou come to destroy us? I know thee, who thou art, —The Holy One of God.
35 Jesús lo interrumpió, diciendo: “¡Cállate!” Entonces le ordenó al demonio: “¡Sal de él!” Y lanzándolo al piso delante de ellos, el demonio salió del hombre sin hacerle daño.
And Jesus rebuked it, saying—Hold thy peace! and go forth from him. And the demon, throwing him into the midst, went forth from him, doing him no hurt.
36 Y todos estaban sorprendidos y se preguntaban unos a otros: “¿Qué enseñanza es esta? Pues con poder y autoridad da orden de salir a los espíritus malignos ¡y ellos lo hacen!”
And amazement came upon all, and they began to converse one with another, saying—What is this word, that, with authority and power, he giveth orders unto the impure spirits, and they go forth?
37 Y la noticia acerca de Jesús se extendía por toda la región.
And a noise concerning him began to go out into every place of the country around.
38 Después de marcharse de la sinagoga, Jesús fue a la casa de Simón. La suegra de Simón estaba enferma con una fiebre alta, y los que estaban allí le pidieron ayuda a Jesús.
And, rising up, from the synagogue, he went into the house of Simon. Now, the mother-in-law of Simon, was in distress with a great fever; and they made request to him concerning her.
39 Entonces Jesús fue y se puso en pie junto a ella. Le ordenó a la fiebre que se fuera, y así sucedió. Entonces ella se levantó de inmediato y preparó una comida para ellos.
And, standing over her, he rebuked the fever, and it left her; and, instantly arising, she began to minister unto them.
40 Cuando el sol se puso, trajeron delante de él a todos los enfermos que sufrían de diversas enfermedades. Y Jesús ponía sus manos sobre ellos, uno tras otro, y los sanaba.
But, as the sun was going in, they one and all, as many as had any sick with divers diseases, brought them unto him; and, he, upon each one of them laying, his hands, was curing them.
41 Salieron demonios de muchas personas, gritando: “Tú eres el hijo de Dios”. Pero Jesús los interrumpía y no los dejaba hablar porque ellos sabían que él era el Cristo.
And demons also were going forth from many; crying aloud, and saying—Thou, art the Son of God. And, rebuking them, he suffered them not be talking; because they knew him to be, The Christ.
42 Siendo temprano, a la mañana siguiente, Jesús salió para encontrar algún lugar tranquilo donde pudiera estar en paz. Pero las multitudes siguieron buscándolo, y finalmente lo encontraron. Trataron de detenerlo al salir porque no querían que se fuera.
And, when it was day, going forth, he journeyed into a desert place; and, the multitudes, were seeking after him, and they came unto him, and would have detained him, that he might not depart from them.
43 Pero él les dijo: “Tengo que ir a otras ciudades a contarles la buena noticia del reino de Dios también, porque para esto fui enviado”.
But, he, said unto them—To the other cities also, I must needs tell the good-news of the kingdom of God, because, hereunto, was I sent forth.
44 Entonces Jesús siguió viajando, enseñando la buena noticia en las sinagogas de Judea.
And he was proclaiming in the cities of Judaea.
