Josué 7
1 Sin embargo, los israelitas no habían sido fieles respecto a las cosas apartadas para el Señor. Acán había tomado algunas de ellas, lo cual hizo que el Señor se enojara mucho con los israelitas. Acán era hijo de Carmi, hijo de Zabdi, hijo de Zera, de la tribu de Judá.
And the sons of Israel commit a trespass in the devoted thing, and Achan, son of Carmi, son of Zabdi, son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, taketh of the devoted thing, and the anger of Jehovah burneth against the sons of Israel.
2 Josué envió hombres desde el campamento cerca de Jericó a la ciudad de Hai, que está cerca de Bet-avén, al este de Bet-el. “Vayan y exploren la tierra”, les dijo. Así que fueron y exploraron alrededor de Hai.
And Joshua sendeth men from Jericho to Ai, which [is] near Beth-Aven, on the east of Bethel, and speaketh unto them, saying, 'Go up and spy the land;' and the men go up and spy Ai,
3 Cuando regresaron, le dijeron a Josué: “No necesitamos a todo el ejército. Dos o tres mil hombres serán suficientes para atacar la ciudad de Hai. No te molestes en enviarlos a todos, pues sólo hay unos pocos”.
and they turn back unto Joshua, and say unto him, 'Let not all the people go up; let about two thousand men, or about three thousand men, go up, and they smite Ai; cause not all the people to labour thither; for they [are] few.'
4 Así que alrededor de tres mil hombres fueron a luchar, pero fueron golpeados por los hombres de Hai y tuvieron que irse huyendo.
And there go up of the people thither about three thousand men, and they flee before the men of Ai,
5 Los hombres de Hai mataron a unos treinta y seis de ellos, persiguiendo a los israelitas desde la puerta del pueblo hasta que fueron derrotados, matándolos mientras descendían. Los israelitas se asustaron y perdieron todo su espíritu para luchar.
and the men of Ai smite of them about thirty and six men, and pursue them before the gate unto Shebarim, and they smite them in Morad; and the heart of the people is melted, and becometh water.
6 Entonces Josué rasgó sus ropas y cayó de bruces al suelo delante del Arca del Señor hasta la noche. Los ancianos hicieron lo mismo, y él y los ancianos se echaron polvo en la cabeza.
And Joshua rendeth his garments, and falleth on his face to the earth before the ark of Jehovah till the evening, he and the elders of Israel, and they cause dust to go up on their head.
7 Josué gritó: “¿Por qué, oh por qué, Señor Dios, nos trajiste al otro lado del río Jordán sólo para entregarnos a los amorreos para que nos destruyan? ¡Deberíamos habernos conformado con quedarnos al otro lado del Jordán!
And Joshua saith, 'Ah, Lord Jehovah, why hast Thou at all caused this people to pass over the Jordan, to give us into the hand of the Amorite to destroy us? — and oh that we had been willing — and we dwell beyond the Jordan!
8 Perdona, Señor, pero ¿qué puedo decir ahora que Israel ha dado la espalda y ha huido de sus enemigos?
Oh, Lord, what do I say, after that Israel hath turned the neck before its enemies?
9 Los cananeos y todos los que viven en la tierra vendrán y nos rodearán y nos aniquilarán tan completamente que incluso nuestro nombre será olvidado. ¿Y qué pasará con tu gran nombre?”
and the Canaanite and all the inhabitants of the land do hear, and have come round against us, and cut off our name out of the earth; and what dost Thou do for Thy great name?'
10 Pero el Señor le respondió a Josué: “¡Levántate! ¿Qué crees que haces acostado sobre tu rostro de esa manera?
And Jehovah saith unto Joshua, 'Rise for thee, why [is] this? — thou [art] falling on thy face?
11 Israel ha pecado y ha quebrantado mi acuerdo, el cual les ordené cumplir. Se han llevado algunas de las cosas que me habían apartado; han actuado con deshonestidad; han escondido los objetos robados junto con sus propias pertenencias.
Israel hath sinned, and also they have transgressed My covenant which I commanded them, and also taken of the devoted thing, and also stolen, and also deceived, and also put [it] among their vessels,
12 Por eso los israelitas no pueden hacer frente a sus enemigos. Por eso dan la espalda y huyen de sus enemigos, y han sido apartados para la destrucción. No podrán hacer frente a sus enemigos hasta que no hayan quitado de entre ustedes lascosas apartadas para la destrucción.
and the sons of Israel have not been able to stand before their enemies; the neck they turn before their enemies, for they have become a devoted thing; I add not to be with you — if ye destroy not the devoted thing out of your midst.
13 Levántate y asegúrate de que el pueblo esté puro. Diles: ‘Purifíquense para mañana, porque así lo dice el Señor, el Dios de Israel: Hay cosas reservadas para mí que están escondidas entre ustedes, pueblo de Israel. No podrán enfrentarse a sus enemigos hasta que tales cosas sean eliminadas por completo.
'Rise, sanctify the people, and thou hast said, Sanctify yourselves for to-morrow; for thus said Jehovah, God of Israel, A devoted thing [is] in thy midst, O Israel, thou art not able to stand before thine enemies till your turning aside of the devoted thing out of your midst;
14 Por la mañana, te presentarás, tribu por tribu. La tribu que elija el Señor se presentará clan por clan. El clan que el Señor elija se presentará familia por familia. La familia que el Señor elija se presentará hombre por hombre.
and ye have been brought near in the morning by your tribes, and it hath been, the tribe which Jehovah doth capture doth draw near by families, and the family which Jehovah doth capture doth draw near by households, and the household which Jehovah doth capture doth draw near by men;
15 El que sea sorprendido en posesión de lo que fue apartado para la destrucción, será quemado con fuego, junto con todo lo que es suyo, porque rompió el acuerdo del Señor y cometió un acto terrible en Israel’”.
and it hath been, he who is captured with the devoted thing is burnt with fire, he and all that he hath, because he hath transgressed the covenant of Jehovah, and because he hath done folly in Israel.'
16 Josué se levantó temprano a la mañana siguiente y llamó a Israel al frente, tribu por tribu.
And Joshua riseth early in the morning, and bringeth Israel near by its tribes, and the tribe of Judah is captured;
17 La tribu de Judá fue elegida. Los clanes de Judá se presentaron y los zerahitas fueron elegidos. El clan de los zerahitas se presentó y se eligió a la familia de Zabdi.
and he bringeth near the family of Judah, and he captureth the family of the Zarhite; and he bringeth near the family of the Zarhite by men, and Zabdi is captured;
18 La familia de Zabdi se presentó, y Acán, hijo de Carmi, hijo de Zabdi, hijo de Zera, de la tribu de Judá, fue elegido.
and he bringeth near his household by men, and Achan — son of Carmi, son of Zabdi, son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah — is captured.
19 Entonces Josué le dijo a Acán: “Hijo mío, honra a Jehová, el Dios de Israel, y confiesa. Dime lo que has hecho. No me lo ocultes”.
And Joshua saith unto Achan, 'My son, put, I pray thee, honour on Jehovah, God of Israel, and give to Him thanks, and declare, I pray thee, to me, what thou hast done — hide not from me.'
20 “¡Es verdad!” respondió Acán. “He pecado contra el Señor, el Dios de Israel. Yo lo he hecho.
And Achan answereth Joshua, and saith, 'Truly I have sinned against Jehovah, God of Israel, and thus and thus I have done;
21 A Entre el botín vi un hermoso manto de Babilonia, doscientos siclos de plata y un lingote de oro que pesaba cincuenta siclos. En realidad deseaba tenerlos, así que los tomé. Están escondidos en el suelo dentro de mi tienda, con la plata enterrada más profundamente”.
and I see among the spoil a goodly robe of Shinar, and two hundred shekels of silver, and one wedge of gold, whose weight [is] fifty shekels, and I desire them, and take them; and lo, they [are] hid in the earth, in the midst of my tent, and the silver under it.'
22 Josué envió hombres que corrieron a revisar la tienda. Encontraron lo que estaba escondido, con la plata enterrada aún más profundamente.
And Joshua sendeth messengers, and they run unto the tent, and lo, it is hidden in his tent, and the silver under it;
23 Los hombres sacaron las cosas de la tienda y se las llevaron a Josué y a todos los israelitas. Allí las extendieron ante el Señor.
and they take them out of the midst of the tent, and bring them in unto Joshua, and unto all the sons of Israel, and pour them out before Jehovah.
24 Entonces Josué, con todos los israelitas, tomó a Acán, hijo de Zera, la plata, el manto y el lingote de oro, junto con sus hijos e hijas, su ganado, sus asnos, sus ovejas y su tienda – todo lo que tenía – ylos llevó al valle de Acor.
And Joshua taketh Achan son of Zerah, and the silver, and the robe, and the wedge of gold, and his sons, and his daughters, and his ox, and his ass, and his flock, and his tent, and all that he hath, and all Israel with him, and they cause them to go up the valley of Achor.
25 Entonces Josué dijo a Acán: “¿Por qué nos has traído tantos problemas? Hoy el Señor te traerá problemas”. Todos los israelitas apedrearon a Acán. Luego, cuando apedrearon a los demás, quemaron sus cuerpos.
And Joshua saith, 'What! thou hast troubled us! — Jehovah doth trouble thee this day;' and all Israel cast stones at him, and they burn them with fire, and they stone them with stones,
26 Colocaron sobre él un gran montón de piedras que aún perdura. El Señor ya no estaba enojado. Por eso el lugar fue llamado el Valle de Acor desde entonces.
and they raise up over him a great heap of stones unto this day, and Jehovah turneth back from the heat of His anger, therefore hath [one] called the name of that place 'Valley of Achor' till this day.
