San Lucas 3
1 El año decimoquinto del reinado de Tiberio César, siendo Poncio Pilato gobernador de Judea, Herodes tetrarca de Galilea, Filipo su hermano tetrarca de Iturea y de la Traconítida, y Lisanias tetrarca de Abilene,
Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judaea, and Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip tetrarch of the region of Ituraea and Trachonitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene,
2 bajo el pontificado de Anás y Caifás, la palabra de Dios vino sobre Juan, hijo de Zacarías, en el desierto.
in the high-priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came unto John the son of Zacharias in the wilderness.
3 Y recorrió toda la región del Jordán, predicando el bautismo de arrepentimiento para la remisión de los pecados,
And he came into all the region round about Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance unto remission of sins;
4 como está escrito en el libro de los vaticinios del profeta Isaías: “Voz de uno que clama en el desierto: Preparad el camino del Señor, enderezad sus sendas.
as it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make ye ready the way of the Lord, Make his paths straight.
5 Todo valle ha de rellenarse, y toda montaña y colina ha de rebajarse; los caminos tortuosos han de hacerse rectos, y los escabrosos, llanos;
Every valley shall be filled, And every mountain and hill shall be brought low; And the crooked shall become straight, And the rough ways smooth;
6 y toda carne verá la salvación de Dios”.
And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.
7 Decía, pues, a las multitudes que salían a hacerse bautizar por él: “Raza de víboras, ¿quién os ha enseñado a escapar de la cólera que os viene encima?
He said therefore to the multitudes that went out to be baptized of him, Ye offspring of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?
8 Producid frutos propios del arrepentimiento. Y no andéis diciendo dentro de vosotros: “Tenemos por padre a Abrahán”. Porque os digo que de estas piedras puede Dios hacer que nazcan hijos a Abrahán.
Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.
9 Ya el hacha está puesta a la raíz de los árboles; todo árbol que no produce buen fruto va a ser tronchado y arrojado al fuego”.
And even now is the axe also laid unto the root of the trees: every tree therefore that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
10 Preguntábanle las gente “¡Y bien! ¿qué debemos hacer?”
And the multitudes asked him, saying, What then must we do?
11 Les respondió y dijo: “Quien tiene dos túnicas, dé una a quien no tiene; y quien víveres, haga lo mismo”.
And he answered and said unto them, He that hath two coats, let him impart to him that hath none; and he that hath food, let him do likewise.
12 Vinieron también los publicanos a hacerse bautizar, y le dijeron: “Maestro, ¿qué debemos hacer?
And there came also publicans to be baptized, and they said unto him, Master, what must we do?
13 Les dijo: “No hagáis pagar nada por encima de vuestro arancel”.
And he said unto them, Extort no more than that which is appointed you.
14 A su vez unos soldados le preguntaron: “Y nosotros, ¿qué debemos hacer?” Les dijo: “No hagáis extorsión a nadie, no denunciéis falsamente a nadie, y contentaos con vuestra paga”.
And soldiers also asked him, saying, And we, what must we do? And he said unto them, Do violence to no man, neither exact [anything] wrongfully; and be content with your wages.
15 Como el pueblo estuviese en expectación, y cada uno se preguntase, interiormente, a propósito de Juan, si no era él el Cristo,
And as the people were in expectation, and all men reasoned in their hearts concerning John, whether haply he were the Christ;
16 Juan respondió a todos diciendo: “Yo, por mi parte, os bautizo con agua. Pero viene Aquel que es más poderoso que yo, a quien yo no soy digno de desatar la correa de sus sandalias. Él os bautizará en Espíritu Santo y fuego.
John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but there cometh he that is mightier than I, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and [with] fire:
17 El aventador está en su mano para limpiar su era y recoger el trigo en su granero, pero la paja la quemará en un fuego que no se apaga”.
whose fan is in his hand, throughly to cleanse his threshing-floor, and to gather the wheat into his garner; but the chaff he will burn up with unquenchable fire.
18 Con estas y otras muchas exhortaciones evangelizaba al pueblo.
With many other exhortations therefore preached he good tidings unto the people;
19 Pero Herodes, el tetrarca, a quien él había reprendido a causa de Herodías, la mujer de su hermano, y a causa de todas sus maldades,
but Herod the tetrarch, being reproved by him for Herodias his brother’s wife, and for all the evil things which Herod had done,
20 añadió a todas estas la de poner a Juan en la cárcel.
added yet this above all, that he shut up John in prison.
21 Al bautizarse toda la gente, y habiendo sido bautizado también Jesús, y estando Este orando, se abrió el cielo,
Now it came to pass, when all the people were baptized, that, Jesus also having been baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened,
22 y el Espíritu Santo descendió sobre Él, en figura corporal, como una paloma, y una voz vino del cielo: “Tú eres mi Hijo, el Amado; en Ti me recreo”.
and the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily form, as a dove, upon him, and a voice came out of heaven, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.
23 Y el mismo Jesús era, en su iniciación, como de treinta años, siendo hijo, mientras se creía de José, de Helí,
And Jesus himself, when he began [to teach], was about thirty years of age, being the son (as was supposed) of Joseph, the [son] of Heli,
24 de Matat, de Leví, de Malquí, de Jannaí, de José,
the [son] of Matthat, the [son] of Levi, the [son] of Melchi, the [son] of Jannai, the [son] of Joseph,
25 de Matatías, de Amós, de Naúm, de Eslí, de Naggaí,
the [son] of Mattathias, the [son] of Amos, the [son] of Nahum, the [son] of Esli, the [son] of Naggai,
26 de Maat, de Matatías, de Semeín, de Josech, de Jodá,
the [son] of Maath, the [son] of Mattathias, the [son] of Semein, the [son] of Josech, the [son] of Joda,
27 de Joanán, de Resá, de Zorobabel, de Salatiel, de Nerí,
the [son] of Joanan, the [son] of Rhesa, the [son] of Zerubbabel, the [son] of Shealtiel, the [son] of Neri,
28 de Melquí, de Addí, de Kosam, de Elmadam, de Er,
the [son] of Melchi, the [son] of Addi, the [son] of Cosam, the [son] of Elmadam, the [son] of Er,
29 de Jesús, de Eliezer, de Jorim, de Matat, de Leví,
the [son] of Jesus, the [son] of Eliezer, the [son] of Jorim, the [son] of Matthat, the [son] of Levi,
30 de Simeón, de Judá, de José, de Jonam, de Eliaquim,
the [son] of Symeon, the [son] of Judas, the [son] of Joseph, the [son] of Jonam, the [son] of Eliakim,
31 de Meleá, de Menná, de Matatá, de Natán, de David,
the [son] of Melea, the [son] of Menna, the [son] of Mattatha, the [son] of Nathan, the [son] of David,
32 de Jessaí, de Jebed, de Booz, de Salá, de Naassón,
the [son] of Jesse, the [son] of Obed, the [son] of Boaz, the [son] of Salmon, the [son] of Nahshon,
33 de Aminadab, de Admín, de Arní, de Esrom, de Farés, de Judá,
the [son] of Amminadab, the [son] of Arni, the [son] of Hezron, the [son] of Perez, the [son] of Judah,
34 de Jacob, de Isaac, de Abrahán, de Tara, de Nachor,
the [son] of Jacob, the [son] of Isaac, the [son] of Abraham, the [son] of Terah, the [son] of Nahor,
35 de Seruch, de Ragau, de Falec, de Eber, de Salá,
the [son] of Serug, the [son] of Reu, the [son] of Peleg, the [son] of Eber, the [son] of Shelah,
36 de Cainán, de Arfaxad, de Sem, de Noé, de Lamec,
the [son] of Cainan, the [son] of Arphaxad, the [son] of Shem, the [son] of Noah, the [son] of Lamech,
37 de Matusalá, de Enoch, de Járet, de Maleleel, de Cainán, de Enós, de Set, de Adán, de Dios.
the [son] of Methuselah, the [son] of Enoch, the [son] of Jared, the [son] of Mahalaleel, the [son] of Cainan,
the [son] of Enos, the [son] of Seth, the [son] of Adam, the [son] of God.
