Jeremías 49
1 Para los hijos de Ammón: Así dice Yahvé: “¿No tiene acaso hijos Israel? ¿No tiene heredero? ¿Por qué Melcom se ha posesionado de Gad, y habita su pueblo en las ciudades de este?
About the people of Ammon, Yahweh says this, “Does Israel have no children? Is there no one to inherit anything in Israel? Why does Molech occupy Gad, and his people live in its cities?
2 Por eso, he aquí que vienen días, dice Yahvé, en que haré oír en Rabbat de los hijos de Ammón el estruendo de la guerra. Ella se convertirá en un montón de escombros, y sus ciudades serán quemadas, e Israel heredará a sus propios herederos —oráculo de Yahvé.
So look, the days are coming—this is Yahweh's declaration—when I will sound the signal for battle against Rabbah among the people of Ammon, so it will become a deserted heap and its villages will be set on fire. For Israel will possess those who possessed him,” says Yahweh.
3 Hesbón prorrumpe en alaridos, porque ¡ay! está devastada; alzad el grito, hijas de Rabbat, ceñíos cilicios, llorad; corred de un lado a otro por los vallados, porque Melcom va al cautiverio, y con él sus sacerdotes y sus príncipes.
“Howl in lament, Heshbon, for Ai will be devastated! Shout out, daughters of Rabbah! Put on sackcloth. Lament and run about in futility, for Molech is going into captivity, together with his priests and leaders.
4 ¿Por qué te glorías de los valles? —es rico tu valle, oh hija rebelde— y confías en tus tesoros (diciendo): «¿Quién vendrá contra mí?»
Why do you brag about your valleys, your valleys that are so fruitful, faithless daughter? you who trust in your wealth and say, 'Who will come against me?'
5 He aquí que haré venir sobre ti el terror, dice el Señor, Yahvé de los ejércitos, el terror de todos los que te rodean; y seréis arrojados, cada cual en su dirección, sin que haya quien reúna a los fugitivos.
See, I am about to bring terror on you—this is the declaration of Lord Yahweh of hosts— this terror will come from all those who surround you. Each one of you will be scattered before it. There will be no one to gather those running away.
6 Mas después de esto haré volver a los cautivos de los hijos de Ammón” —oráculo de Yahvé.
But after this I will restore the fortunes of the people of Ammon—this is Yahweh's declaration.”
7 Para Edom: Así dice Yahvé de los ejércitos: “¿No hay ya sabiduría en Temán? ¿Se retiró de sus sabios el consejo? ¿Se acabó su inteligencia?
About Edom, Yahweh of hosts says this, “Is there no longer any wisdom to be found in Teman? Has good advice disappeared from those who have understanding? Has their wisdom become corrupted?
8 ¡Huid! ¡Volveos atrás! Buscad refugios profundos, habitantes de Dedán, porque voy a traer sobre él la ruina de Esaú, el tiempo de su castigo.
Flee! Turn back! Stay in holes in the ground, inhabitants of Dedan. For I am bringing the disaster of Esau on him at the time that I punish him.
9 Si vinieran sobre ti vendimiadores, dejarían por lo menos algunos racimos; y si ladrones de noche, destruirían solo una parte.
If grape harvesters came to you, would they not leave a little bit behind? If thieves came in the night, would they not steal only as much as they wanted?
10 Yo empero voy a despojar a Esaú, descubriré su escondrijo, y no podrá ocultarse; será destruida su raza, así como sus hermanos y sus vecinos; y él mismo ya no existirá.
But I have stripped Esau bare. I have revealed his hiding places. So he will not be able to hide himself. His children, his brothers, and his neighbors are destroyed, and he is gone.
11 ¡Deja tus huérfanos, que Yo les conservaré la vida, y tus viudas pongan en Mí su esperanza!
Leave your orphans behind. I will take care of their lives, and your widows can trust in me.”
12 Porque así dice Yahvé: He aquí, si los que no estaban condenados a beber el cáliz, lo bebieron sin remedio, ¿tú, por ventura, saldrás impune? No saldrás impune, lo beberás sin falta.
For Yahweh says this, “See, those who did not deserve it must certainly drink some of the cup. Do you yourself think you will go without punishment? You will not, for you will certainly drink.
13 Pues por Mí mismo he jurado, dice Yahvé: Bosra será un objeto de horror y de oprobio, una desolación y lugar de maldición, y todas sus ciudades una eterna soledad.”
For I have sworn by myself—this is Yahweh's declaration—that Bozrah will become a horror, a disgrace, a devastation, and an object for cursing. All of its cities will become devastations forever.
14 He oído de parte de Yahvé esta nueva, ha sido enviado a las naciones este mensaje: “Congregaos y marchad contra ella, y levantaos para ir a la guerra.”
I have heard news from Yahweh, and a messenger has been sent out to the nations, 'Gather together and attack her. Get ready for battle.'
15 “Pues he aquí que Yo te he hecho pequeño entre los pueblos, despreciado entre los hombres.
“For see, I have made you small compared to the other nations, despised by people.
16 Te ha engañado tu arrogancia, la soberbia de tu corazón, pues habitas en las hendiduras de las rocas, y ocupas la cima de los montes. Pero aunque pongas tan alto como el águila tu nido, de allí te haré bajar, dice Yahvé.
As for your fearsomeness, your heart's pride has deceived you, inhabitants of places on the cliff, you who have occupied the highest hills so that you may make your nest high like an eagle. I will bring you down from there—this is Yahweh's declaration.
17 Edom vendrá a ser un horror; cuantos por allí pasaren quedarán pasmados, y silbando contemplarán todas tus plagas.
Edom will become a horror to everyone passing by it. Every such person will tremble and hiss because all of its disasters.
18 Será arrasado como Sodoma y Gomorra, y sus ciudades vecinas, dice Yahvé; no vivirá nadie allí, ni habrá hombre que lo habite.
Like the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah and their neighbors,” says Yahweh, “no one will live there; no person will stay there.
19 Como león subirá (el enemigo) desde las espesuras del Jordán a los pastizales siempre verdes, pero en un momento lo arrojaré de allí, y estableceré en (Edom) a quien Yo escogiere, pues ¿quién hay como Yo? ¿Quién me pedirá cuenta? ¿Quién es el pastor que pueda enfrentarse conmigo?
See, he will go up like a lion from the forests of the Jordan to the green pasturelands. For I will quickly make Edom run from it, and I will put someone who will be chosen in charge of it. For who is like me, and who will summon me? What shepherd is able to resist me?”
20 Por eso, oíd el designio de Yahvé, que Él tiene resuelto contra Edom, y sus planes que ha trazado contra los habitantes de Teman. Os aseguro que serán arrastrados hasta los débiles de la grey, y quedarán devastados juntamente con ellos sus pastizales.
“So listen to the plans that Yahweh has decided against Edom, the plans that he has formed against the inhabitants of Teman. They will certainly be dragged away, even the smallest flock. Their pasturelands will be turned into ruined places.
21 Al estruendo de su caída temblará la tierra, sus gritos se oirán hasta el Mar Rojo.
At the sound of their falling the earth shakes. The sound of distressed shouts is heard at the Sea of Reeds.
22 He aquí que como águila subirá (el enemigo), volará y extenderá sus alas contra Bosra; y será el corazón de los guerreros de Edom en aquel día como el corazón de una mujer que está de parto.”
See, someone will attack like an eagle, and swoop down and spread his wings over Bozrah. Then on that day, the hearts of Edom's soldiers will become like the heart of a woman in birth labor.”
23 Para Damasco: “Confundidas están Hamat y Arfad; oyeron una mala noticia, por la cual se han turbado. Son como un mar agitado que no se puede calmar.
About Damascus: “Hamath and Arpad will be ashamed, for they have heard news of disaster. They melt away! They become as troubled as the sea, which cannot stay calm.
24 Desmáyase Damasco, se dispone a huir, tiembla; se apoderan de ella angustia y dolores como de parturienta.
Damascus has become very weak. It turns away to flee; terror seizes it. Distress and pain seize it, like the pain of a woman giving birth.
25 ¡Cómo ha sido abandonada la ciudad gloriosa, la ciudad de mi alegría!
How has the city of praise not been forsaken, the town of my joy?
26 Por eso sus jóvenes caerán por sus calles, y todos sus hombres de guerra perecerán en aquel día —oráculo de Yahvé de los ejércitos—;
Therefore its young men will fall in its plazas, and all the fighting men will perish on that day—this is the declaration of Yahweh of hosts.”
27 y pegaré fuego al muro de Damasco, que devorará los palacios de Benhadad.
“For I will light a fire on the wall of Damascus, and it will devour the strongholds of Ben Hadad.”
28 Para Cedar y los reinos de Hasor, que derrotó Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia: Así dice Yahvé: “Levantaos, marchad contra Cedar, y destruid a los hijos del Oriente.
About Kedar and the kingdoms of Hazor, Yahweh says this to Nebuchadnezzar (now Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon was going to attack these places): “Arise and attack Kedar and destroy those people of the east.
29 Se les quitarán sus tiendas y sus rebaños, las lonas de sus (tiendas) y todos sus utensilios; serán llevados sus camellos, y se les clamará: «¡Terror por doquier!»
Their tents and their flocks will be taken, along with their tent curtains and all of their equipment; their camels will be led away from them, and men will shout to them, “Terror is on every side!”
30 Huid, dispersaos por todas partes; escondeos en cavernas, moradores de Hasor, dice Yahvé; porque Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, tiene resuelto un plan contra vosotros, y contra vosotros se dirigen sus pensamientos.
Flee! Wander far away! Stay in holes in the ground, inhabitants of Hazor—this is Yahweh's declaration— for Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon has devised a plan against you. Flee! Turn back!
31 Levantaos, dice Yahvé (a los caldeos), marchad contra un pueblo tranquilo, que habita confiado, dice Yahvé, sin puertas, sin cerrojos, todo aislado.
Arise! Attack the nation at ease, that lives in safety,” says Yahweh. “They have no gates or bars in them, and its people live by themselves.
32 Sus camellos serán un botín, y una presa la muchedumbre de sus ganados. Esparciré a todos los vientos a los que se rapan las sienes; y de todos sus confines traeré su mal, dice Yahvé.
For their camels will become plunder, and the abundance of their property will become war plunder. Then I will scatter to every wind those who cut the corners of their hair, and I will bring disaster on them from every side—this is Yahweh's declaration.
33 Hasor vendrá a ser morada de chacales, un desierto perpetuo, no habitará allí hombre alguno ni morará hijo de hombre en ella.
Hazor will become a lair of jackals, a permanent wasteland. No one will live there; no human being will stay there.”
34 Al principio del reinado de Sedecías, rey de Judá, recibió el profeta Jeremías esta palabra de Dios para Elam:
This is the word of Yahweh that came to Jeremiah the prophet about Elam. This happened at the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, and he said,
35 “Así dice Yahvé de los ejércitos: He aquí que romperé el arco de Elam, lo principal de su fuerza.
“Yahweh of hosts says this: See, I am about to break the bowmen of Elam, the main part of their power.
36 Soltaré contra Elam los cuatro vientos desde los cuatro puntos del cielo; y los dispersaré hacia todos estos vientos; y no habrá nación adonde no lleguen fugitivos de Elam.
For I will bring the four winds from the four corners of the heavens, and I will scatter the people of Elam to all of those winds. There is no nation to which those scattered from Elam will not go.
37 Porque haré temblar a Elam delante de sus enemigos, y delante de los que intentan su ruina; descargaré sobre ellos el mal, mi ira ardiente, dice Yahvé, y tras ellos enviaré la espada hasta acabar con ellos.
So I will shatter Elam before their enemies and before those who seek their lives. for I will bring disaster against them, the fury of my wrath—this is Yahweh's declaration— and I will send the sword after them until I have annihilated them.
38 Asentaré mi trono en Elam, y daré allí muerte al rey y a los príncipes, dice Yahvé.
Then I will put my throne in Elam and will destroy its king and leaders from there—this is Yahweh's declaration—
39 Pero en los últimos tiempos haré volver a los cautivos de Elam” —oráculo de Yahvé.
and it will happen in later days that I will bring back the fortunes of Elam—this is Yahweh's declaration.”
