Esdras 3
1 Llegado el mes séptimo, y estando ya los hijos de Israel en sus ciudades, se reunió el pueblo como un solo hombre en Jerusalén.
But, when the seventh month was come, and the sons of Israel were in cities, then did the people gather themselves together as one man, unto Jerusalem.
2 Entonces se levantaron Jesúa, hijo de Josadac, con sus hermanos, los sacerdotes, y Zorobabel, hijo de Salatiel, con sus hermanos, y reedificaron el altar del Dios de Israel, para ofrecer sobre él holocaustos, según está escrito en la Ley de Moisés, varón de Dios.
Then arose—Jeshua son of Jozadak and his brethren the priests, and Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel and his brethren, and built the altar of the God of Israel, —to offer thereon ascending-sacrifices, as it was written in the law of Moses, the man of God.
3 Erigieron el altar sobre su (antigua) base, pues tenían miedo a los pueblos vecinos, y ofrecieron sobre él holocaustos a Yahvé, el holocausto de la mañana y el de la tarde.
So they settled the altar upon its stands, for, dread, was upon them, because of the peoples of the countries, —therefore caused they to go up thereon, ascending-sacrifices unto Yahweh, ascending-sacrifices for the morning and for the evening.
4 Celebraron la fiesta de los Tabernáculos, conforme a lo prescrito, ofreciendo cada día los holocaustos según el número y reglamento correspondiente a cada día.
And they kept the festival of booths, as it was written, —and the ascending-offering of each day upon its own day, by number, according to regulation, the matter of a day upon its day;
5 Después de esto ofrecieron el holocausto perpetuo, los holocaustos de los novilunios y de todas las fiestas consagradas a Yahvé, y los de todos aquellos que hacían ofrendas voluntarias a Yahvé.
and, afterwards, the continual ascending-sacrifice, and, on the new moons, and on all the appointed seasons of Yahweh, the hallowed things, —also for every one that volunteered a voluntary offering unto Yahweh.
6 Comenzaron a ofrecer holocaustos a Yahvé desde el día primero del mes séptimo, cuando no habían sido todavía puestos los fundamentos del Templo del Señor.
From the first day of the seventh month, began they to offer up ascending-sacrifices unto Yahweh, —but, the temple of Yahweh, had not had its foundation laid.
7 Dieron dinero a los canteros y a los carpinteros, y también comida, bebida y aceite a los sidonios y tirios, para que trajesen maderas de cedro desde el Líbano por mar a Joppe, según lo dispuesto por Ciro, rey de Persia.
And they gave silver, unto the masons and carpenters, —and food and drink and oil, unto them of Zidon and unto them of Tyre, to bring in cedar-trees out of the Lebanon, unto the sea of Joppa, according to the grant of Cyrus king of Persia unto them.
8 En el año segundo de su llegada a la Casa de Yahvé, a Jerusalén, en el mes segundo, Zorobabel, hijo de Salatiel, Jesúa, hijo de Josadac, y el resto de sus hermanos, los sacerdotes y levitas, y todos los que habían venido de la cautividad a Jerusalén, pusieron mano a la obra, y entregaron a los levitas, de veinte años arriba, la dirección de los trabajos de la Casa de Yahvé.
Now, in the second year of their coming in unto the house of God, to Jerusalem, in the second month, began Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel and Jeshua son of Jozadak and the rest of their brethren—the priests and the Levites, and all that were come out of the captivity to Jerusalem, and stationed the Levites, of twenty years old and upwards, to preside over the work of the house of Yahweh.
9 Entonces Jesúa con sus hijos y hermanos, Cadmiel con sus hijos, los hijos de Judá y los hijos de Henadad, con sus hijos y sus hermanos levitas, asumieron unánimemente el cargo de dirigir a los que trabajaban en la Casa de Dios.
So they took their station—even Jeshua, his sons and his brethren, Kadmiel and his sons, sons of Judah, as one man to preside over the doer of the work in the house of God, the sons of Henadad, their sons and their brethren, the Levites.
10 Cuando los obreros echaron los fundamentos del Templo de Yahvé, asistieron los sacerdotes, revestidos de sus ornamentos, y con las trompetas, y los levitas, hijos de Asaf, con címbalos, para alabar a Yahvé, según las disposiciones de David, rey de Israel.
And, when the builders laid the foundation of the temple of Yahweh, then the priests, enrobed, took their stand with trumpets, and the Levites the sons of Asaph with cymbals, to offer praise unto Yahweh, after the instructions of David king of Israel.
11 Cantaron, alabando y confesando a Yahvé: “Porque Él es bueno; porque es eterna su misericordia para con Israel.” Y todo el pueblo prorrumpió en grandes voces de alabanza a Yahvé, porque se echaban los cimientos de la Casa de Yahvé.
And, when they made responses in offering praise and in giving thanks unto Yahweh—For he is good, for, age-abiding, is his lovingkindness, upon Israel, then, all the people, shouted with a great shout, in offering praise unto Yahweh, over the laying of the foundation of the house of Yahweh.
12 Muchos de los sacerdotes y levitas y de los jefes de las casas paternas, ancianos ya, que habían visto la Casa primera, lloraban en voz alta al echarse los cimientos de esta Casa ante sus ojos; muchos en cambio, alzaban la voz dando gritos de alegría,
But, many of the priests and the Levites and the ancestral chiefs, who were old men, that had seen the first house, when the foundation of this house was laid before their eyes, were weeping with a loud voice, —many, however, shouting and rejoicing, with voice raised on high;
13 de modo que el pueblo no podía distinguir entre los gritos de alegría y los llantos de la gente; porque el pueblo gritaba a grandes voces, y el sonido se oía desde lejos.
so that the people could not distinguish the noise of the shout of joy, from the noise of the weeping of the people, —for, the people, did shout with a great shout, and, the noise, was heard afar off.
