Ester 6
1 Aquella noche el rey no pudo dormir y mandó traer el libro de las memorias, las crónicas. Y cuando fueron leídas delante del rey,

2 hallose escrito cómo Mardoqueo había denunciado a Bigtán y Teres, los dos eunucos del rey que tenían la guardia de la puerta y habían tratado de matar al rey Asuero.

3 El rey preguntó: “¿Qué honra y qué distinción se ha conferido a Mardoqueo por esto?” Respondieron los servidores del rey, los que le servían: “No le fue conferida ninguna.”
And whanne the kyng hadde herd this, he seide, What onour and meede gat Mardochee for this feithfulnesse? And hise seruauntis and mynystris seiden to hym, Outirli he took no meede.
4 Luego dijo el rey: “¿Quién está en el patio?” Pues Amán había venido al patio exterior de la casa del rey para pedir al rey que mandara colgar a Mardoqueo en la horca preparada para este.
And anoon the kyng seide, Who is in the halle? Sotheli Aaman hadde entrid in to the ynnere halle of the kyngis hows, to make suggestioun to the kyng, that he schulde comaunde Mardochee to be hangid on the iebat, which was maad redi to him.
5 Contestaron los servidores del rey: “Es Amán el que espera en el patio.” Y dijo el rey: “¡Que entre!”
And the children answeriden, Aaman stondith in the halle.
6 Entró Amán y el rey le dijo: “¿Qué debe hacerse con un hombre a quien el rey quiere honrar?” Entonces Amán dijo en su corazón: “¿A quién deseará el rey honrar sino a mí?”
And the kyng seide, Entre he. And whanne he was comun yn, the kyng seide to hym, What owith to be don to the man, whom the kyng desirith onoure? Aaman thouyte in his herte, and gesside, that the kyng wolde onoure noon othere man no but hym silf;
7 Respondió, pues, Amán: “Para el hombre que el rey quiera honrar,
and he answeride, The man, whom the kyng couetith to onoure,
8 tráigase uno de los trajes reales con que se viste el rey, y uno de los caballos, en que el rey cabalga, y póngase una corona real sobre su cabeza,
owith to be clothid with the kyngis clothis, and to be set on the hors which is of the kyngis sadel, and to take the kyngis diademe on his heed;
9 y dense el traje y el caballo a uno de los príncipes más nobles del rey, para que vista al hombre que el rey quiere honrar, y lo lleve en el caballo por la plaza de la ciudad, pregonando delante de él: ¡Así se hace con aquel a quien el rey quiere honrar!”
and the firste of the princes and stronge men of the kyng holde his hors, and go bi the stretis of the citee, and crie, and seie, Thus he schal be onourid, whom euer the kyng wole onoure.
10 Replicó el rey a Amán: “¡Toma inmediatamente el traje y el caballo, como has dicho, y hazlo así con Mardoqueo el judío, que está sentado a la puerta del rey! ¡No omitas nada de cuanto has dicho!”
Therfor the kyng seide to hym, Haste thou, and whanne `a stoole and hors is takun, do thou, as thou hast spoke, to Mardochee the Jew, that sittith bifor the yatis of the paleis; be thou war, that thou leeue not out ony thing of these, whiche thou hast spoke.
11 Tomó Amán el traje y el caballo y vistió a Mardoqueo, y lo hizo pasear a caballo por la plaza de la ciudad, pregonando delante de él: “¡Así se hace con el hombre a quien el rey quiere honrar!”
Therfor Aaman took `a stoole and hors, and yede, and criede bifor Mardochee clothid in the strete of the citee, and set on `the hors, He is worthi this onour, whom euer the kyng wole onoure.
12 Después volvió Mardoqueo a la puerta del rey; más Amán se fue a toda prisa a su casa, entristecido y cubierta la cabeza.
And Mardochee turnede ayen to the yate of the paleis, and Aaman hastide to go in to his hows, morenynge, and with the heed hilid.
13 Y contó Amán a Zares, su mujer, y a todos sus amigos todo lo que había sucedido. Entonces le dijeron sus sabios y Zares, su mujer: “Si ese Mardoqueo, delante del cual has comenzado a caer, es del linaje de los judíos, no lo vencerás, sino que caerás del todo delante de él.”
And he teld to Zares, his wijf, and to frendis alle thingis that hadden bifelde to hym. To whom the wise men, whiche he hadde in counsel, and his wijf, answeriden, If Mardochee, bifor whom thou hast bigunne to falle, is of the seed of Jewis, thou schalt not mowe ayenstonde hym, but thou schalt falle in his siyt.
14 Estaban ellos todavía hablando con él, cuando llegaron los eunucos del rey, para llevar a Amán apresuradamente al banquete que Ester tenía preparado.
