2 Samuel 7

1 Cuando el rey se había establecido en su casa, y Yahvé le había dado descanso de todos sus enemigos en derredor,

It happened, when the king lived in his house, and YHWH had given him rest from all his enemies all around,

2 dijo al profeta Natán: “¿No ves que yo habito en casa de cedro, mientras el Arca de Dios está en medio de una tienda?”

that the king said to Nathan the prophet, "See now, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of God dwells within curtains."

3 Natán contestó al rey: “Anda, haz todo cuanto tienes en tu corazón; porque Yahvé es contigo.”

Nathan said to the king, "Go, do all that is in your heart; for YHWH is with you."

4 Mas aquella noche recibió Natán una palabra de Yahvé, que decía:

It happened the same night, that the word of YHWH came to Nathan, saying,

5 “Anda, y di a mi siervo David: «Así dice Yahvé: ¿Tú quieres edificarme una Casa para que habite en ella?

"Go and tell my servant David, 'Thus says YHWH, "Shall you build me a house for me to dwell in?

6 Yo nunca he habitado en Casa alguna desde el día en que saqué a los hijos de Israel de Egipto hasta el día de hoy, sino que he andado de un lugar a otro en una tienda y en un tabernáculo.

For I have not lived in a house since the day that I brought up the children of Israel out of Egypt, even to this day, but have moved around in a tent and in a tabernacle.

7 Durante todo el tiempo en que he andado en medio de todos los hijos de Israel, ¿he hablado Yo jamás a alguna de las tribus de Israel, a las que he encargado el gobierno de Israel mi pueblo, diciendo: «Por qué no me habéis edificado una Casa de cedro?»

In all places in which I have walked throughout Israel, did I say a word to any of the judges of Israel, whom I commanded to be shepherd of my people Israel, saying, 'Why have you not built me a house of cedar?'"'

8 Habla, pues, ahora de esta manera a mi siervo David: «Así dice Yahvé de los Ejércitos: Yo te saqué de las dehesas, de detrás de las ovejas, para que seas príncipe de Israel, mi pueblo.

Now therefore you shall tell my servant David this, 'Thus says YHWH of hosts, "I took you from the sheep pen, from following the sheep, that you should be prince over my people Israel.

9 He estado contigo dondequiera que andabas, he exterminado a todos tus enemigos de delante de ti, y he hecho grande tu nombre como el nombre de los más grandes de la tierra.

I have been with you wherever you went, and have cut off all your enemies from before you. I will make you a great name, like the name of the great ones who are in the earth.

10 He señalado un lugar para Israel, mi pueblo, y lo he plantado, de modo que puede habitar en su propio lugar, sin ser inquietado, pues los hijos de iniquidad ya no lo oprimirán como antes.

I will appoint a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in their own place, and be moved no more; neither shall the children of wickedness afflict them any more, as at the first,

11 desde el día en que constituí jueces sobre Israel mi pueblo. Te he dado descanso de todos tus enemigos, y Yahvé te hace saber que Él te edificará una casa.

and from the time that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel. I will cause you to rest from all your enemies. Moreover YHWH tells you that he will build you a house.

12 Cuando se cumplieren tus días y tú descansares con tus padres. Yo suscitaré después de ti, un descendiente tuyo que ha de salir de tus entrañas, y haré estable su reino.

And it will come about when your days are fulfilled, and you sleep with your fathers, that I will raise up your descendant after you, who will come from your body, and I will establish his kingdom.

13 Él edificará una casa para mi nombre: y Yo afirmaré el trono de su reino para siempre,

He will build a house for my name, and I will establish his throne forever.

14 Yo seré su Padre y el será mi hijo. Cuando obrare mal, le reprenderé con vara de hombres y con azotes de hombres.

I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commits iniquity, I will chasten him with a human rod, and with the stripes from human beings;

15 Con todo no se apartará de él mi misericordia como la aparté de Saúl, al cual he quitado de delante de ti.

but my loving kindness I will not take from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before you.

16 Tu casa y tu reino serán estables ante Mí eternamente, y tu trono será firme para siempre.»”

And your house and your kingdom shall be made sure forever before me, and your throne shall be established forever."'"

17 Conforme a todas estas palabras, y a toda esta visión, así habló Natán a David.

According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so Nathan spoke to David.

18 Entró entonces el rey David y permaneciendo en la presencia de Yahvé, dijo: “¿Quién soy yo, oh Señor, Yahvé, y cuál es mi casa, para que me hayas conducido hasta aquí?

Then king David went in and sat before YHWH and said, "Who am I, Lord YHWH, and what is my house, that you have brought me thus far?

19 Y como si esto fuese aun poco a tus ojos, Señor, Yahvé, has hablado de nuevo también en favor de la casa de tu siervo para los tiempos futuros. ¿Es esta la costumbre de los hombres?, oh Señor Yahvé.

This was a small thing in your eyes, Lord YHWH, and you have spoken of your servant's house for a great while to come, and you have let me look upon the generation of humankind to come, Lord YHWH.

20 ¿Y qué más podrá decirte David? Pues Tú, oh Señor Yahvé, conoces a tu siervo.

And what more can David add to you concerning the honor which is done to your servant? For you know your servant, YHWH.

21 Según tu palabra y según tu corazón has hecho toda esta obra tan grande, y la has dado a conocer a tu siervo.

For your servant's sake, and according to your own heart, you have worked all this greatness, to make your servant know it.

22 Por eso eres grande, oh Yahvé Dios; pues no hay nadie como Tú, ni hay Dios alguno fuera de Ti, conforme a todo lo que hemos oído con nuestros oídos.

Therefore you are great, Lord YHWH. For there is none like you, neither is there any God besides you, according to all that we have heard with our ears.

23 ¿Y hay en la tierra pueblo como tu pueblo, como Israel, al que Dios haya venido a rescatarle para hacerle el pueblo suyo y darle nombre, obrando maravillas en su favor y prodigios en favor de tu tierra, rechazando de delante de tu pueblo que redimiste de Egipto para Ti mismo, las naciones con sus dioses?

And who is like your people Israel, the one nation on earth whom God went out to redeem to be a people for himself, and to make a name for yourself, and to do great and awesome deeds by driving out before your people, whom you redeemed for yourself from Egypt, a nation and its gods?

24 Tú constituiste a tu pueblo Israel pueblo tuyo para siempre; y Tú, oh Yahvé, te hiciste Dios suyo.

And you established your people Israel for yourself to be your people forever; and you, YHWH, became their God.

25 Ahora pues, oh Yahvé Dios, mantén siempre firme la promesa que has hecho respecto de tu siervo y respecto de tu casa, y haz según tu promesa.

Now, Lord YHWH, the word that you have spoken concerning your servant, and concerning his house, confirm it forever, and do as you have spoken.

26 Y sea ensalzado tu nombre para siempre, y se diga: Yahvé de los Ejércitos es Dios sobre Israel, y sea estable la casa de tu siervo David delante de tu rostro.

Let your name be magnified forever, saying, 'YHWH of hosts is the God of Israel,' and the house of your servant David shall be established before you.

27 Porque Tú, Yahvé de los Ejércitos, Dios de Israel, has dado a tu siervo esta revelación, diciendo: ‘Te edificaré una casa’; por eso tu siervo se ha atrevido a dirigirte esta plegaria.

For you have revealed to your servant, saying, 'I will build you a house.' Therefore your servant has found in his heart to pray this prayer to you.

28 Ahora pues, oh Señor Yahvé, Tú eres Dios y tus palabras son fieles. Ya que prometiste a tu siervo este bien,

"Now, O Lord YHWH, you are God, and your words are truth, and you have promised this good thing to your servant.

29 sea ahora de tu agrado bendecir la casa de tu siervo, para que subsista siempre delante de Ti; pues Tú, Señor Yahvé, lo has prometido; y con tu bendición será por siempre bendita la casa de tu siervo.”

Now therefore let it please you to bless the house of your servant, that it may continue forever before you; for you, Lord YHWH, have spoken it. Let the house of your servant be blessed forever with your blessing."
