2 Crónicas 20
1 Después de esto, los hijos de Moab y los hijos de Ammón, y con ellos algunos meunitas, marcharon contra Josafat para atacarle.
It came to pass after this also, that the children of Moab, and the children of Ammon, and with them other beside the Ammonites, came against Jehoshaphat to battle.
2 Vinieron mensajeros a avisar a Josafat, diciendo: “Marcha contra ti una gran muchedumbre de gentes de más allá del Mar (Salado) y de Siria; y he aquí que están en Hasasón-Tamar que es Engadí.”
Then there came some that told Jehoshaphat, saying, There comes a great multitude against you from beyond the sea on this side Syria; and, behold, they be in Hazazontamar, which is Engedi.
3 Entonces Josafat, atemorizado, se dedicó todo a buscar a Yahvé y promulgó un ayuno para todo Judá.
And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the LORD, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah.
4 Se congregó, por lo tanto, Judá para implorar a Yahvé, y de todas las ciudades de Judá vino gente para suplicar a Yahvé.
And Judah gathered themselves together, to ask help of the LORD: even out of all the cities of Judah they came to seek the LORD.
5 Entonces Josafat, puesto en pie en medio de la asamblea de Judá y de Jerusalén, en la Casa de Yahvé, delante del atrio nuevo,
And Jehoshaphat stood in the congregation of Judah and Jerusalem, in the house of the LORD, before the new court,
6 dijo: “Yahvé, Dios de nuestros padres, ¿no eres Tú Dios en el cielo, y no reinas Tú en todos los reinos de las gentes? ¿No está en tu mano el poder y la fortaleza, sin que haya quien pueda resistirte?
And said, O LORD God of our fathers, are not you God in heaven? and rule not you over all the kingdoms of the heathen? and in your hand is there not power and might, so that none is able to withstand you?
7 Tú, oh Dios nuestro, expulsaste a los habitantes de este país delante de Israel, tu pueblo, y lo diste a la posteridad de tu amigo Abrahán para siempre.
Are not you our God, who did drive out the inhabitants of this land before your people Israel, and gave it to the seed of Abraham your friend for ever?
8 Ellos fijaron allí su morada, y te han edificado allí un Santuario para tu Nombre, diciendo:
And they dwelt therein, and have built you a sanctuary therein for your name, saying,
9 «Si viniere sobre nosotros algún mal, espada, castigo, peste o hambre, nos presentaremos delante de esta Casa, y delante de tu Rostro, porque tu Nombre reside en esta Casa; y clamaremos a Ti en nuestra angustia; y Tú oirás y nos salvarás.»
If, when evil comes upon us, as the sword, judgment, or pestilence, or famine, we stand before this house, and in your presence, (for your name is in this house, ) and cry unto you in our affliction, then you will hear and help.
10 Ahora bien, he aquí que los hijos de Ammón, y los de Moab y del monte Seír —aquellos cuyos (países) Tú no dejaste invadir por Israel en su salida de la tierra de Egipto, por lo cual Israel se apartó de ellos, sin destruirlos—,
And now, behold, the children of Ammon and Moab and mount Seir, whom you would not let Israel invade, when they came out of the land of Egypt, but they turned from them, and destroyed them not;
11 he aquí que ellos nos pagan, viniendo para echarnos de tu heredad, que Tú nos diste en herencia.
Behold, I say, how they reward us, to come to cast us out of your possession, which you have given us to inherit.
12 Oh Dios nuestro, ¿no los castigarás? Pues nosotros no tenemos fuerza contra esta gran muchedumbre que viene contra nosotros; y no sabemos qué hacer. Por eso nuestros ojos se vuelven hacia Ti.”
O our God, will you not judge them? for we have no might against this great company that comes against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon you.
13 Y todo Judá estaba en pie ante Yahvé, con sus niños, sus mujeres y sus hijos.
And all Judah stood before the LORD, with their little ones, their wives, and their children.
14 Entonces vino el Espíritu de Yahvé sobre Jahasiel, hijo de Zacarías, hijo de Banaías, hijo de Jehiel, hijo de Matanías, levita de los hijos de Asaf, el cual estaba en medio de la asamblea,
Then upon Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, a Levite of the sons of Asaph, came the Spirit of the LORD in the midst of the congregation;
15 y dijo: “¡Atended, Judá todo, y vosotros los habitantes de Jerusalén, y tú, oh rey Josafat! Así os dice Yahvé: No temáis ni os asustéis ante esta tan grande muchedumbre; porque no es vuestra la guerra, sino de Dios.
And he said, Hearken all of you, all Judah, and all of you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and you king Jehoshaphat, Thus says the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God's.
16 Bajad contra ellos mañana; he aquí que van a subir por la cuesta de Sis. Los encontraréis en la extremidad del valle, enfrente del desierto de Jeruel.
Tomorrow go all of you down against them: behold, they come up by the cliff of Ziz; and all of you shall find them at the end of the brook, before the wilderness of Jeruel.
17 No tendréis que pelear en esta ocasión. Apostaos y quedaos quietos, y veréis la salvación de Yahvé, que vendrá sobre vosotros, oh Judá y Jerusalén. ¡No temáis, ni os amedrentéis! Salid mañana al encuentro de ellos, pues Yahvé estará con vosotros.”
All of you shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand all of you still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them: for the LORD will be with you.
18 Entonces Josafat inclinó su rostro a tierra; y todo Judá y los habitantes de Jerusalén se postraron ante Yahvé para adorarle.
And Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground: and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell before the LORD, worshipping the LORD.
19 Y los levitas, de los hijos de los caatitas y de la estirpe de los coreítas, se levantaron, para bendecir con grandes voces a Yahvé, el Dios de Israel.
And the Levites, of the children of the Kohathites, and of the children of the Korhites, stood up to praise the LORD God of Israel with a loud voice on high.
20 AI día siguiente se levantaron temprano y salieron al desierto de Tecoa. Mientras iban saliendo, Josafat se paró y dijo: “¡Oídme, oh Judá y vosotros los habitantes de Jerusalén! Tened confianza en Yahvé, vuestro Dios, y estaréis seguros; confiad en sus profetas, y triunfaréis.”
And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and all of you inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the LORD your God, so shall all of you be established; believe his prophets, so shall all of you prosper.
21 Después, habiendo deliberado con el pueblo, señaló cantores que, vestidos de ornamentos sagrados y marchando al frente de los armados, celebrasen la hermosura de su Santuario cantando: “¡Alabad a Yahvé, porque es eterna su misericordia!”
And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the LORD, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the LORD; for his mercy endures for ever.
22 Y al momento que comenzaron los cantos y las alabanzas, Yahvé puso emboscadas contra los hijos de Ammón, los de Moab y los del monte Seír, que habían venido contra Judá, de suerte que fueron derrotados.
And when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten.
23 Porque se levantaron los hijos de Ammón y Moab contra los moradores del monte Seír, para entregarlos al anatema y para aniquilarlos, y cuando hubieron acabado con los moradores de Seír, se esforzaron para destruirse a sí mismos los unos a los otros.
For the children of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of mount Seir, utterly to slay and destroy them: and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, every one helped to destroy another.
24 Entretanto Judá había venido a la atalaya del desierto, y cuando dirigieron sus miradas hacia la multitud, no vieron más que cadáveres, tendidos por tierra; pues ninguno había podido escapar.
And when Judah came toward the watch tower in the wilderness, they looked unto the multitude, and, behold, they were dead bodies fallen to the earth, and none escaped.
25 Luego Josafat y su pueblo fueron a tomar los despojos de ellos y hallaron allí abundancia de riqueza, y cadáveres, y objetos preciosos, que recogieron, hasta no poderlos llevar. Estuvieron tres días recogiendo el botín; porque era mucho.
And when Jehoshaphat and his people came to take away the spoil of them, they found among them in abundance both riches with the dead bodies, and precious jewels, which they stripped off for themselves, more than they could carry away: and they were three days in gathering of the spoil, it was so much.
26 Al cuarto día se congregaron en el Valle de Beracá, y allí bendijeron a Yahvé; por eso se llama aquel lugar Valle de Beracá, hasta el día de hoy.
And on the fourth day they assembled themselves in the valley of Berachah; for there they blessed the LORD: therefore the name of the same place was called, The valley of Berachah, unto this day.
27 Después todos los hombres de Judá y de Jerusalén, y Josafat al frente de ellos, regresaron con júbilo a Jerusalén, porque Yahvé les había dado el gozo (del triunfo sobre) sus enemigos.
Then they returned, every man of Judah and Jerusalem, and Jehoshaphat in the forefront of them, to go again to Jerusalem with joy; for the LORD had made them to rejoice over their enemies.
28 Y entraron en Jerusalén, en la Casa de Yahvé, con salterios, cítaras y trompetas.
And they came to Jerusalem with psalteries and harps and trumpets unto the house of the LORD.
29 Invadió el terror de Dios a todos los reinos de los países cuando supieron que Yahvé había peleado contra los enemigos de Israel.
And the fear of God was on all the kingdoms of those countries, when they had heard that the LORD fought against the enemies of Israel.
30 Así el reinado de Josafat fue tranquilo, porque su Dios le había dado paz por todos lados.
So the realm of Jehoshaphat was quiet: for his God gave him rest round about.
31 Reinó Josafat sobre Judá. Tenía treinta y cinco años cuando comenzó a reinar, y veinte y cinco años reinó en Jerusalén. Su madre se llamaba Asubá, hija de Silhí.
And Jehoshaphat reigned over Judah: he was thirty and five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned twenty and five years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Azubah the daughter of Shilhi.
32 Anduvo por el camino de su padre Asá, sin apartarse de él, haciendo lo que era recto a los ojos de Yahvé.
And he walked in the way of Asa his father, and departed not from it, doing that which was right in the sight of the LORD.
33 Pero los lugares altos no desaparecieron, pues el pueblo no había aún enderezado su corazón al Dios de sus padres.
Nevertheless the high places were not taken away: for as yet the people had not prepared their hearts unto the God of their fathers.
34 El resto de los hechos de Josafat, los primeros y los postreros, he aquí que están escritos en la historia de Jehú, hijo de Hananí, que se halla inserta en el libro de los reyes de Israel.
Now the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of Jehu the son of Hanani, who is mentioned in the book of the kings of Israel.
35 Después de esto, Josafat, rey de Judá, hizo coalición con Ococías, rey de Israel, cuyas obras eran malas.
And after this did Jehoshaphat king of Judah join himself with Ahaziah king of Israel, who did very wickedly:
36 Hizo coalición con él para construir naves que hiciesen el viaje a Tarsis; y construyeron las naves en Esionguéber.
And he joined himself with him to make ships to go to Tarshish: and they made the ships in Eziongaber.
37 Entonces profetizó Eliéser, hijo de Dodavahu, de Maresá, contra Josafat, diciendo: “Por cuanto te has coligado con Ococías, Yahvé va a destruir tus obras.” En efecto, naufragaron las naves, y no pudieron ir a Tarsis.
Then Eliezer the son of Dodavah of Mareshah prophesied against Jehoshaphat, saying, Because you have joined yourself with Ahaziah, the LORD has broken your works. And the ships were broken, that they were not able to go to Tarshish.
