1 Crónicas 23

1 Viejo ya David, y harto de días, constituyó a Salomón, su hijo, rey de Israel.

Now, David, was old, and satisfied with days, —so he made Solomon his son king, over Israel;

2 Reunió a todos los príncipes de Israel, a los sacerdotes y a los levitas,

and gathered together all the rulers of Israel, with the priests, and the Levites.

3 y fueron contados los levitas de treinta años arriba; y su número, contado por cabezas, uno por uno, fue de treinta y ocho mil.

Now the Levites were numbered, from thirty years old and upwards, —and their number by their polls, of mature men, was thirty-eight thousand.

4 “De estos, (dijo David), serán veinte y cuatro mil para dirigir las obras de la Casa de Yahvé; seis mil serán magistrados y jueces,

Of these—to preside over the work of the house of Yahweh, were twenty-four thousand, —and officers and judges, six thousand;

5 cuatro mil porteros, y cuatro mil para cantar el loor de Yahvé con los instrumentos que yo he hecho para alabanzas.”

and four thousand, were doorkeepers, —and, four thousand, were offerers of praise unto Yahweh, with instruments, which [said David] I made for offering praise.

6 David los distribuyó en clases, según los hijos de Leví: Gersón, Caat y Merarí.

And David divided them into courses, —pertaining to the sons of Levi, to Gershon, Kohath and Merari.

7 De los Gersonitas: Ladán y Simeí.

Of the Gershonites, Ladan and Shimei.

8 Hijos de Ladán: Jehiel, el jefe, Zetán y Joel, tres.

The sons of Ladan, the chief Jehiel, and Zetham and Joel, three.

9 Hijos de Simeí: Selomit, Hasiel y Harán, tres. Estos son las cabezas de las casas paternas de Ladán.

The sons of Shimei, Shelomoth and Haziel and Haran, three, —these, were the ancestral chiefs of Ladan.

10 Hijos de Simeí: Jáhat, Sisá, Jeús y Berías. Estos son los hijos de Simeí, cuatro.

And, the sons of Shimei, Jahath, Zina, and Jeush, and Beriah, —these, were the sons of Shimei, four.

11 Jáhat era jefe, y Sisá el segundo. Jeús y Berías no tuvieron muchos hijos, por lo cual representaron en el censo una sola casa paterna.

And Jahath was chief, and Zizah the second, —but, Jeush and Beriah, had not many sons, so they became an ancestral house, by one reckoning.

12 Hijos de Caat: Amran, Ishar, Hebrón y Uciel, cuatro.

The sons of Kohath, Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel, four.

13 Hijos de Amran: Aarón y Moisés. Aarón fue separado para que consagre las cosas santísimas juntamente con sus hijos, para siempre; para que ofrezca incienso ante Yahvé, sirva a Él y bendiga en su nombre perpetuamente.

The sons of Amram, Aaron and Moses, —and Aaron was separated, to hallow the holy of holies, he and his sons, unto times age-abiding, to make a perfume before Yahweh, to be in attendance upon him, and to bless in his name, unto times age-abiding;

14 En cuanto a Moisés, varón de Dios, sus hijos fueron contados entre los levitas.

and, as for Moses, the man of God, his sons, were called unto the tribe of Levi.

15 Los hijos de Moisés fueron Gersón y Eliéser.

The sons of Moses, were Gershom, and Eliezer.

16 Hijos de Gersón: Sebuel, el jefe.

the sons of Gershom, were Shebuel the chief;

17 Los hijos de Eliéser fueron: Rehabías, el jefe. Eliéser no tuvo otros hijos; mas los hijos de Rehabías fueron muy numerosos.

and the sons of Eliezer were Rehabiah the chief, —and Eliezer had no other sons, but, the sons of Rehabiah, were very many.

18 Hijos de Ishar: Selomit, el jefe.

The sons of Izhar, Shelomith the chief.

19 Hijos de Hebrón: Jería, el jefe, Amarías, el segundo, Jahasiel, el tercero, y Jecamaam, el cuarto.

The sons of Hebron, Jeriah the chief, Amariah the second, Jehaziel the third, and Jekameam the fourth.

20 Hijos de Uciel: Mica, el jefe, e Isaías, el segundo.

The sons of Uzziel, Micah the chief, and Isshiah the second.

21 Hijos de Merarí: Mahlí y Musí. Hijos de Mahlí: Eleazar y Cis.

The sons of Merari, were Mahli and Mushi. The sons of Mahli, were Eleazar and Kish.

22 Murió Eleazar, sin dejar hijos, sino solamente hijas. Los hijos de Cis, hermanos de ellas, las tomaron por mujeres.

But Eleazar died, and had no sons, but daughters only, —and so the sons of Kish their brethren took them.

23 Hijos de Musí: Mahlí, Eder y Jeremot, tres.

The sons of Mushi, were Mahli and Eder and Jeremoth, three.

24 Estos son los hijos de Leví, según sus casas paternas, las cabezas de las casas paternas, según el censo de ellos, contados nominal e individualmente. Ellos hacían la obra del ministerio de la Casa de Yahvé, desde los veinte años arriba.

These, were the sons of Levi by their ancestral house, the ancestral chiefs of them who were counted in the number of their names, by their polls, doing the work, for the service of the house of Yahweh, —from twenty years old, and upwards.

25 Porque David había dicho: “Yahvé, el Dios de Israel, ha dado reposo a su pueblo, y habitará en Jerusalén para siempre.

For, said David, Yahweh the God of Israel hath given rest unto his people, —and hath taken up his habitation in Jerusalem, unto times age-abiding;

26 Y en cuanto a los levitas, ya no habrán de llevar la Morada, con todos los utensilios de su ministerio.”

moreover also, as for the Levites, they have no need to bear the habitation, nor any of its vessels in the laborious work thereof.

27 Conforme a estas últimas disposiciones de David, se hizo el cómputo de los hijos de Leví de veinte años arriba.

For, by the last words of David, the same, were the number of the sons of Levi, —from twenty years old, and upwards.

28 Estaban agregados a los hijos de Aarón, para el ministerio de la Casa de Yahvé, y tenían a su cargo los atrios y las cámaras, la limpieza de todas las cosas sagradas, en fin, la obra del ministerio de la Casa de Dios;

For, their duty, was—to be in attendance upon the sons of Aaron, in the laborious work of the house of Yahweh, over the courts, and over the chambers, and over the purifying of everything holy, —and doing the laborious work, of the house of God;

29 asimismo los panes de la proposición, la flor de harina para las ofrendas, las galletas sin levadura, lo cocido en sartén, lo frito, y toda clase de medidas de capacidad y longitud.

and for the bread set in array, and for the fine meal for the meal-offering, and for the unleavened cakes, even for that which is baked in a pan, for the moistened food, —even of every measure, and size;

30 Tenían que estar presentes todas las mañanas y todas las tardes para celebrar y alabar a Yahvé,

and to stand, morning by morning, to give thanks and offer praise unto Yahweh, —and, likewise, at even;

31 y para ofrecer todos los holocaustos a Yahvé, en los sábados, novilunios y fiestas, según su número y su rito especial, delante de Yahvé para siempre.

and for all the offering of ascending-sacrifices unto Yahweh, on the sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the set feasts, —by number, according to the manner prescribed for them continually, before Yahweh; —

32 Tenían también que servir al Tabernáculo de la Reunión y al Santuario, y a los hijos de Aarón sus hermanos, en el ministerio de la Casa de Yahvé.

and they shall keep the charge of the tent of meeting, and the charge of the holy place, and the charge of the sons of Aaron, their brethren, —in the laborious work of the house of Yahweh.
