1 Crónicas 20
1 Al año siguiente, al tiempo en que los reyes suelen salir a campaña, Joab se puso al frente de un fuerte ejército y asoló el país de los hijos de Ammón; y llegado que hubo puso sitio a Rabbá; David, empero, se quedó en Jerusalén. Entretanto, Joab derrotó a Rabbá y la destruyó.
It came about in the springtime, at the time when kings normally go to war, that Joab led the army into battle and devastated the land of the Ammonites. He went and besieged Rabbah. David remained in Jerusalem. Joab attacked Rabbah and defeated it.
2 David le quitó la corona de su rey de encima de la cabeza, y halló que pesaba un talento de oro. Había en ella una piedra preciosa. Fue puesta sobre la cabeza de David, el cual sacó de la ciudad muchísimo botín.
David took the crown of their king from off his head, and he found that it weighed a talent of gold, and in it were precious stones. The crown was set on David's head, and he brought out the plunder of the city in large quantities.
3 Hizo salir al pueblo que había en ella, y los puso a las sierras, a los trillos de hierro y a las hachas. Así hizo David con todas las ciudades de los hijos de Ammón. Después volvió David con todo el pueblo a Jerusalén.
He brought out the people who were in the city and forced them to work with saws and iron picks and axes. David required all the cities of the people of Ammon to do this labor. Then David and all the army returned to Jerusalem.
4 Después de esto tuvo lugar una batalla en Guézer contra los filisteos, en la cual Sibecai husatita mató a Sipai, uno de los Refaím, los cuales fueron humillados.
It came about after this that there was a battle at Gezer with the Philistines. Sibbekai the Hushathite killed Sippai, one of the descendants of the Rephaim, and the Philistines were subdued.
5 Hubo otra batalla contra los filisteos; y Elhanán, hijo de Jaír, mató a Lahmí, hermano de Goliat geteo, el asta de cuya lanza era como un enjullo de tejedor.
It came about again in a battle with the Philistines at Gob, that Elhanan son of Jair the Bethlehemite killed Lahmi brother of Goliath the Gittite, the staff of whose spear was like a weaver's beam.
6 Hubo otra batalla más en Gat, y había un hombre de gran estatura, que tenía seis dedos (en sendas manos y pies): veinte y cuatro (entre todos). También ese era descendiente de Rafa.
It came about in another battle at Gath that there was a man of great height who had six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot. He also was descended from the Rephaim.
7 Cuando insultó a Israel, le mató Jonatán, hijo de Simeá, hermano de David. Estos eran descendientes de Rafa, de Gat, y cayeron por mano de David y por manos de sus paladines.
When he mocked the army of Israel, Jehonadab son of Shimea, David's brother, killed him.
These were descendants of the Rephaim of Gath, and they were killed by the hand of David and by the hand of his soldiers.
