Psalmi 56

1 Načelniku godbe, o duši, ki silo trpi od tujcev krdela, odlična pesem Davidova, ko so ga prijeli Filistejci v Gatu. Milosten mi bodi, Bog, ker rohneč me preganja človek, ves dan me stiska oblegovatelj.

For the end, concerning the people that were removed from the sanctuary, by David for a memorial, when the Philistines caught him in Geth. Have mercy upon me, O God; for man has trodden me down; all the day long he warring has afflicted me.

2 Rohné zalezovalci moji vés dan, ker mnogo jih je; z višave naj mi pomagajo borilci.

Mine enemies have trodden me down all the day from the dawning of the day; for there are many warring against me.

3 Ko se bodem bal, zaupal bodem v tebe.

They shall be afraid, but I will trust in you.

4 V Bogu bodem hvalil besedo njegovo; v Boga bodem zaupal, ne bodem se bal: Kaj naj bi mi storilo meso?

In God I will praise my words; all the day have I hoped in God; I will not fear what flesh shall do to me.

5 Ves dan žalijo mojo stvar; zoper mene merijo vse njih misli v hudo.

All the day long they have abominated my words; all their devices [are] against me for evil.

6 Zbirajo, skrivajo se oni; na moj sled prežé, kakor ki iščejo življenje moje.

They will dwell near and hide [themselves]; they will watch my steps, accordingly as I have waited patiently in my soul.

7 Poleg krivičnosti jim stóri, v jezi pahni ljudstva, Bog.

You will on no account save them; you will bring down the people in wrath.

8 Ti imaš sešteto tavanje moje; v meh svoj deni vsako solzo mojo, ali bi jih ne imel seštetih?

O God, I have declared my life to you; you has set my tears before you, even according to your promise.

9 Tedaj se povrnejo sovražniki moji nazaj; tisti dan, ko bodem vpil: To vém, da mi bode Bog na strani.

Mine enemies shall be turned back, in the day wherein I shall call upon you; behold, I know that you are my God.

10 V Bogu bodem hvalil besedo, v Gospodu hvalil besedo.

In God, will I praise [his] word; in the Lord will I praise [his] saying.

11 V Boga zaupam, ne bodem se bal; kaj bi mi storil človek?

I have hoped in God; I will not be afraid of what man shall do to me.

12 Z menoj bodejo, o Bog, obljube tvoje; zahvaljeval se bodem tebi.

The vows of your praise, O God, which I will pay, are upon me.

13 Ker dušo mojo otimaš smrti; ali bi ne rešil nóg mojih padca? da neprestano hodim pred Bogom v tega življenja luči.

For you have delivered my soul from death, and my feet from sliding, that I should be well-pleasing before God in the land of the living.
