Книга Иова 21
1 Отвещав же Иов, рече:
Then Job answered and said:
2 послушайте, послушайте словес моих, да не будет ми от вас сие утешение:
Hear diligently my speech; and let this be your consolations.
3 потерпите ми, аз же возглаголю, таже не посмеетемися.
Suffer me, that I may speak; and after that I have spoken, mock on.
4 Что бо? Еда человеческо ми обличение? Или почто не возярюся?
As for me, is my complaint to man? Or why should I not be impatient?
5 Воззревшии на мя удивитеся, руку положше на ланите.
Turn unto me, and be astonished, and lay your hand upon your mouth.
6 Аще бо воспомяну, ужаснуся: обдержат бо плоть мою болезни.
Even when I remember I am affrighted, and horror hath taketh hold on my flesh.
7 Почто нечестивии живут, обетшаша же в богатстве?
Wherefore do the wicked live, become old, yea, wax mighty in power?
8 Семя их по души, чада же их пред очима.
Their seed is established in their sight with them, and their offspring before their eyes.
9 Домове их обилнии суть, страх же нигде, раны же от Господа несть на них.
Their houses are safe, without fear, neither is the rod of God upon them.
10 Говядо их не изверже: спасена же бысть их имущая во чреве и не лишися.
Their bull gendereth, and faileth not; their cow calveth, and casteth not her calf.
11 Пребывают же яко овцы вечныя, дети же их предиграют,
They send forth their little ones like a flock, and their children dance.
12 вземше псалтирь и гусли, и веселятся гласом песни.
They sing to the timbrel and harp, and rejoice at the sound of the pipe.
They spend their days in prosperity, and peacefully they go down to the grave. (Sheol h7585)
14 Глаголют же Господеви: отступи от нас, путий Твоих ведети не хощем:
Yet they said unto God: 'Depart from us; for we desire not the knowledge of Thy ways.
15 что достоин, яко да поработаем Ему? И кая польза, яко да взыщем Его?
What is the Almighty, that we should serve Him? And what profit should we have, if we pray unto Him?' —
16 В руках бо их бяху благая, дел же нечестивых не надзирает.
Lo, their prosperity is not in their hand; the counsel of the wicked is far from me.
17 Обаче же и нечестивых светилник угаснет, найдет же им развращение, болезни же их оымут от гнева:
How oft is it that the lamp of the wicked is put out? that their calamity cometh upon them? that He distributeth pains in His anger?
18 будут же аки плевы пред ветром, или якоже прах, егоже взя вихр.
That they are as stubble before the wind, and as chaff that the storm stealeth away?
19 Да оскудеют сыном имения его: воздаст противу ему, и уразумеет.
'God layeth up his iniquity for his children!' — let Him recompense it unto himself, that he may know it.
20 Да узрят очи его свое убиение, от Господа же да не спасется.
Let his own eyes see his destruction, and let him drink of the wrath of the Almighty.
21 Яко воля его с ним в дому его, и числа месяцей его разделишася.
For what pleasure hath he in his house after him? seeing the number of his months is determined.
22 Не Господь ли есть научаяй разуму и хитрости? Тойже мудрых разсуждает.
Shall any teach God knowledge? seeing it is He that judgeth those that are high.
23 Той умрет в силе простоты своея, всецел же благодушествуяй и благоуспеваяй,
One dieth in his full strength, being wholly at ease and quiet;
24 утроба же его исполнена тука, мозг же его разливается.
His pails are full of milk, and the marrow of his bones is moistened.
25 Ов же умирает в горести души, не ядый ничтоже блага.
And another dieth in bitterness of soul, and hath never tasted of good.
26 Вкупе же на земли спят, гнилость же их покры.
They lie down alike in the dust, and the worm covereth them.
27 Темже вем вас, яко дерзостию належите ми,
Behold, I know your thoughts, and the devices which ye wrongfully imagine against me.
28 яко речете: где есть дом княжь? И где есть покров селений нечестивых?
For ye say: 'Where is the house of the prince? And where is the tent wherein the wicked dwelt?'
29 Вопросите мимоходящих путем, и знамения их не чужда сотворите.
Have ye not asked them that go by the way; and will ye misdeem their tokens,
30 Яко на день пагубы соблюдается нечестивый, и в день гнева Его отведен будет.
That the evil man is reserved to the day of calamity, that they are led forth to the day of wrath?
31 Кто возвестит пред лицем его путь его, и еже той сотвори, кто воздаст ему?
But who shall declare his way to his face? And who shall repay him what he hath done?
32 И той во гроб отнесен бысть, и на гробищих побде.
For he is borne to the grave, and watch is kept over his tomb.
33 Усладися ему дробное камение потока, и вслед его всяк человек отидет, и пред ним безчисленнии.
The clods of the valley are sweet unto him, and all men draw after him, as there were innumerable before him.
34 Како же мя утешаете суетными? А еже бы мне почити от вас, ничтоже.
How then comfort ye me in vain? And as for your answers, there remaineth only faithlessness?
