1 Zvino chaunga chavo chese chakasimuka, chikamutungamidza kuna Pirato.
And the whole multitude of them arose, and led him unto Pilate.
2 Zvino vakatanga kumupomera, vachiti: Tawana uyu achitsausa rudzi, nekudzivisa kupa mitero kuna Kesari, achiti iye pachake ndiKristu Mambo.
And they began to accuse him, saying, We found this fellow perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar, saying that he himself is the Messiah a King.
3 Zvino Pirato wakamubvunza achiti: Iwe uri Mambo weVaJudha here? Ndokumupindura, akati: Unoreva iwe.
And Pilate asked him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews? And he answered him and said, Thou sayest it.
4 Pirato ndokuti kuvapristi vakuru nezvaunga: Handiwani mhosva kumunhu uyu.
Then said Pilate to the chief priests and to the people, I find no fault in this man.
5 Asi vakasimbisa, vachiti: Unonyonganisa vanhu, achidzidzisa muJudhiya rese, kutanga paGarirea kusvikira pano.
And they were the more fierce, saying, He stirreth up the people, teaching throughout all Jewry, beginning from Galilee to this place.
6 Pirato wakati anzwa zveGarirea, akabvunza kana munhu uyu ari muGarirea.
When Pilate heard of Galilee, he asked whether the man were a Galilaean.
7 Zvino paakangoziva kuti ndeweushe hwaHerodhe, wakamutumira kuna Herodhe, iye waivawo muJerusarema pamazuva iwayo.
And as soon as he knew that he belonged unto Herod's jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who himself also was at Jerusalem at that time.
8 Zvino Herodhe paakaona Jesu wakafara zvikurusa; nokuti waishuva kumuona kwenguva refu, nokuti wakange anzwa zvinhu zvizhinji pamusoro pake; uye wakatarisira kuona chimwe chiratidzo chichiitwa naye.
And when Herod saw Yahushua, he was exceeding glad: for he was desirous to see him of a long season, because he had heard many things of him; and he hoped to have seen some miracle done by him.
9 Ndokumubvunza nemashoko mazhinji; asi iye haana kumupindura chinhu.
Then he questioned with him in many words; but he answered him nothing.
10 Zvino vapristi vakuru nevanyori vakamira vakamupomera zvine simba.
And the chief priests and scribes stood and vehemently accused him.
11 NaHerodhe nemauto ake wakamuzvidza, nekuseka akamupfekedza nguvo refu inobwinya, akamudzosera kuna Pirato.
And Herod with his men of war set him at nought, and mocked him, and arrayed him in a gorgeous robe, and sent him again to Pilate.
12 Nemusi iwoyo Pirato naHerodhe vakava shamwari neshamwari; nokuti paimbova neruvengo pakati pavo.
And the same day Pilate and Herod were made friends together: for before they were at enmity between themselves.
13 Zvino Pirato wakati adanira pamwe vapristi vakuru nevatungamiriri nevanhu,
And Pilate, when he had called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people,
14 akati kwavari: Mauisa munhu uyu kwandiri seanotsausa vanhu; zvino tarirai ini ndaongorora pamberi penyu, handina kuwana mhosva kumunhu uyu yezvinhu zvamunomupomera;
Said unto them, Ye have brought this man unto me, as one that perverteth the people: and, behold, I, having examined him before you, have found no fault in this man touching those things whereof ye accuse him:
15 kwete, kunyange Herodhe; nokuti ndinokutumai kwaari; zvino tarirai, hapana chakafanira rufu chakaitwa naye.
No, nor yet Herod: for I sent you to him; and, lo, nothing worthy of death is done unto him.
16 Naizvozvo ndichamurova ndigomusunungura.
I will therefore chastise him, and release him.
17 Nokuti zvaiva zvakafanira kuti avasunungurire umwe pamutambo.
(For of necessity he must release one unto them at the feast.)
18 Asi vese vakadanidzira pamwe vachiti: Kure neuyu, asi mutisunungurire Bharabhasi.
And they cried out all at once, saying, Away with this man, and release unto us Barabbas:
19 Iye wakange akandirwa mutirongo nemhaka yerimwe bongozozo rakange raitika muguta uye neumhondi.
(Who for a certain sedition made in the city, and for murder, was cast into prison.)
20 Naizvozvo Pirato achida kusunungura Jesu, wakataurazve kwavari.
Pilate therefore, willing to release Yahushua, spake again to them.
21 Asi vakadanidzira, vachiti: Roverera pamuchinjikwa, muroverere pamuchinjikwa!
But they cried, saying, Crucify him, crucify him.
22 Akati kwavari rwechitatu: Nemhaka yei, iye waita chakaipa chipi? Handina kuwana mhosva yerufu maari; naizvozvo ndichamurova ndigomusunungura.
And he said unto them the third time, Why, what evil hath he done? I have found no cause of death in him: I will therefore chastise him, and let him go.
23 Asi vakasimbisa nemanzwi makuru, vachikumbira kuti arovererwe pamuchinjikwa. Manzwi avo neevapristi vakuru akabudirira.
And they were instant with loud voices, requiring that he might be crucified. And the voices of them and of the chief priests prevailed.
24 Zvino Pirato wakatema kuti chikumbiro chavo chiitike.
And Pilate gave sentence that it should be as they required.
25 Akavasunungurira uyo wavakakumbira, wakange akandwa mutirongo nekuda kwebongozozo neumhondi; asi akakumikidza Jesu kuchido chavo.
And he released unto them him that for sedition and murder was cast into prison, whom they had desired; but he delivered Yahushua to their will.
26 Zvino vakati vachimutungamidza, vakabata umwe Simoni muKurini achibva kuruwa, vakamutakudza muchinjikwa, kuti atakure shure kwaJesu.
And as they led him away, they laid hold upon one Simon, a Cyrenian, coming out of the country, and on him they laid the cross, that he might bear it after Yahushua.
27 Zvino kwakatevera kwaari chaunga chikuru chevanhu, nevakadzi vairirawo nekumuchema.
And there followed him a great company of people, and of women, which also bewailed and lamented him.
28 Asi Jesu wakatendeukira kwavari akati: Vakunda veJerusarema, musachemera ini, asi muzvichemere imwi nevana venyu;
But Yahushua turning unto them said, Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but weep for yourselves, and for your children.
29 nokuti tarirai, mazuva anouya avachati nawo: Dzakaropafadzwa mhanje, nezvizvaro zvisina kubereka, nemazamu asina kunwisa.
For, behold, the days are coming, in the which they shall say, Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bare, and the paps which never gave suck.
30 Ipapo vachatanga kuti kumakomo: Wirai pamusoro pedu; nekuzvikomo: Tifukidzei.
Then shall they begin to say to the mountains, Fall on us; and to the hills, Cover us.
31 Nokuti kana vachiita zvinhu izvi kumuti munyoro, chii chichaitika kune wakawoma?
For if they do these things in a green tree, what shall be done in the dry?
32 Zvino kwakatungamidzwawo vamwe vaiti vezvakaipa vaviri, kuti vaurawe pamwe naye.
And there were also two other, malefactors, led with him to be put to death.
33 Zvino vakati vasvika panzvimbo inonzi Dehenya, ipapo vakamuroverera pamuchinjikwa, nevaiti vezvakaipa, umwe kuruoko rwerudyi, neumwe kuruboshwe.
And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.
34 Jesu ndokuti: Baba, vakanganwirei; nokuti havazivi chavanoita. Zvino vakagovana nguvo dzake, vakakanda mujenya.
Then said Yahushua, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.
35 Vanhu ndokumira vakatarira. Nevatongiwo pamwe navo vakamuseka, vachiti: Wakaponesa vamwe, ngaazviponese, kana iye ari Kristu, musanangurwa waMwari.
And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be the Messiah, the chosen of Elohim.
36 Nemautowo akamuseka, achimuvigira vhiniga,
And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him, and offering him vinegar,
37 uye vachiti: Kana iwe uri Mambo weVaJudha, zviponese.
And saying, If thou be the king of the Jews, save thyself.
38 Zvino kwakange kune rugwarowo rwakanyorwa pamusoro pake nemavara echiGiriki nechiRoma nechiHebheru, rwaiti: UYU NDIMAMBO WEVAJUDHA.
And a superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
39 Uye umwe wevaiti vezvakaipa vakange vakaremberedzwa wakamutuka achiti: Kana iwe uri Kristu, zviponese iwe nesu.
And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be the Messiah, save thyself and us.
40 Asi umwe wakapindura achimutsiura, achiti: Iwe hautyi Mwari kanhi, zvauri pakutongwa kumwe?
But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear Elohim, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?
41 Isu zvirokwazvo zvakarurama, nokuti tinogamuchira zvakafanira zvatakaita; asi uyu haana kuita chinhu chisakafanira.
And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.
42 Zvino akati kuna Jesu: Ishe mundirangarire kana masvika muushe hwenyu.
And he said unto Yahushua, Rabbi, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.
43 Jesu ndokuti kwaari: Zvirokwazvo ndinoti kwauri: Nhasi uchava neni muParadhiso.
And Yahushua said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.
44 Zvino rakange rava awa rinenge rechitanhatu; kukavapo rima pamusoro penyika yese, kusvikira paawa repfumbamwe.
And it was about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour.
45 Nezuva rakadzikatirwa, uye vheiri retembere rakabvarurwa nepakati.
And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst.
46 Zvino Jesu wakati adanidzira nenzwi guru achiti: Baba, mumaoko enyu ndinokumikidza mweya wangu; akati areva izvozvi, akapa mweya.
And when Yahushua had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the Spirit.
47 Zvino mukuru wezana wakati aona zvakaitika, akarumbidza Mwari, achiti: Zvirokwazvo munhu uyu wakange akarurama.
Now when the centurion saw what was done, he glorified Elohim, saying, Certainly this was a righteous man.
48 Nezvaunga zvese zvakange zvakaungana kuzoona izvozvi, zvakati zvichiona zvakaitika, zvikadzokera zvichizvirova zvifuva.
And all the people that came together to that sight, beholding the things which were done, smote their breasts, and returned.
49 Nevazikanwi vake vese, nevakadzi vaimutevera vachibva Garirea, vakamira kure, vachiona zvinhu izvi.
And all his acquaintance, and the women that followed him from Galilee, stood afar off, beholding these things.
50 Zvino tarira, murume wainzi Josefa, nhengo yedare, murume wakanaka uye wakarurama;
And, behold, there was a man named Joseph, a counseller; and he was a good man, and a just:
51 iye wakange asina kutenderana nezano nechiito chavo; waiva weArimatia, guta reVaJudha, naiyewo wakange achimirira ushe hwaMwari.
(The same had not consented to the counsel and deed of them; ) he was of Arimathaea, a city of the Jews: who also himself waited for the kingdom of YHWH.
52 Iye wakaenda kuna Pirato akakukumbira mutumbi waJesu.
This man went unto Pilate, and begged the body of Yahushua.
53 Zvino wakauburusa, akauputira nemucheka werineni, ndokuuradzika muguva rakange rakacherwa pabwe, makange musina kumboradzikwa munhu.
And he took it down, and wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a sepulchre that was hewn in stone, wherein never man before was laid.
54 Zvino waiva musi wegadziriro, uye sabata roswedera.
And that day was the preparation, and the Sabbath drew on.
55 Nevakadziwo, vakange vauya naye vachibva Garirea, vakatevera mumashure, vakaona guva, nokuti mutumbi wake waradzikwa sei.
And the women also, which came with him from Galilee, followed after, and beheld the sepulchre, and how his body was laid.
56 Uye vakadzokera, vakagadzirira zvinonhuhwira nezvizoro. Zvino vakazorora nesabata zvichienderana nemurairo.
And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the Sabbath day according to the commandment.
