லூக: 18
1 அபரஞ்ச லோகைரக்லாந்தை ர்நிரந்தரம்’ ப்ரார்த²யிதவ்யம் இத்யாஸ²யேந யீஸு²நா த்³ரு’ஷ்டாந்த ஏக: கதி²த: |
Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and never despair.
2 குத்ரசிந்நக³ரே கஸ்²சித் ப்ராட்³விவாக ஆஸீத் ஸ ஈஸ்²வராந்நாபி³பே⁴த் மாநுஷாம்’ஸ்²ச நாமந்யத|
“There was,” he said, “in a certain town a judge, who had no fear of God nor regard for people.
3 அத² தத்புரவாஸிநீ காசித்³வித⁴வா தத்ஸமீபமேத்ய விவாதி³நா ஸஹ மம விவாத³ம்’ பரிஷ்குர்வ்விதி நிவேத³யாமாஸ|
In the same town there was a widow who went to him again and again, and said ‘Grant me justice against my opponent.’
4 தத: ஸ ப்ராட்³விவாக: கியத்³தி³நாநி ந தத³ங்கீ³க்ரு’தவாந் பஸ்²சாச்சித்தே சிந்தயாமாஸ, யத்³யபீஸ்²வராந்ந பி³பே⁴மி மநுஷ்யாநபி ந மந்யே
For a time the judge refused, but afterward he said to himself ‘Although I am without fear of God or regard for people,
5 ததா²ப்யேஷா வித⁴வா மாம்’ க்லிஸ்²நாதி தஸ்மாத³ஸ்யா விவாத³ம்’ பரிஷ்கரிஷ்யாமி நோசேத் ஸா ஸதா³க³த்ய மாம்’ வ்யக்³ரம்’ கரிஷ்யதி|
yet, as this widow is so troublesome, I will grant her justice, to stop her from plaguing me with her endless visits.’”
6 பஸ்²சாத் ப்ரபு⁴ரவத³த்³ அஸாவந்யாயப்ராட்³விவாகோ யதா³ஹ தத்ர மநோ நித⁴த்⁴வம்’|
Then the Master added, “Listen to what this iniquitous judge says!
7 ஈஸ்²வரஸ்ய யே (அ)பி⁴ருசிதலோகா தி³வாநிஸ²ம்’ ப்ரார்த²யந்தே ஸ ப³ஹுதி³நாநி விலம்ப்³யாபி தேஷாம்’ விவாதா³ந் கிம்’ ந பரிஷ்கரிஷ்யதி?
And God – won’t he see that his own people, who cry to him night and day, have justice done them – though he holds his hand?
8 யுஷ்மாநஹம்’ வதா³மி த்வரயா பரிஷ்கரிஷ்யதி, கிந்து யதா³ மநுஷ்யபுத்ர ஆக³மிஷ்யதி ததா³ ப்ரு’தி²வ்யாம்’ கிமீத்³ரு’ஸ²ம்’ விஸ்²வாஸம்’ ப்ராப்ஸ்யதி?
He will, I tell you, give them justice soon enough! Yet, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?”
9 யே ஸ்வாந் தா⁴ர்ம்மிகாந் ஜ்ஞாத்வா பராந் துச்சீ²குர்வ்வந்தி ஏதாத்³ரு’க்³ப்⁴ய: , கியத்³ப்⁴ய இமம்’ த்³ரு’ஷ்டாந்தம்’ கத²யாமாஸ|
Another time, speaking to people who were satisfied that they were religious, and who regarded everyone else with scorn, Jesus told this parable –
10 ஏக: பி²ரூஸ்²யபர: கரஸஞ்சாயீ த்³வாவிமௌ ப்ரார்த²யிதும்’ மந்தி³ரம்’ க³தௌ|
“Two men went up into the Temple Courts to pray. One was a Pharisee and the other a tax-gatherer.
11 ததோ(அ)ஸௌ பி²ரூஸ்²யேகபார்ஸ்²வே திஷ்ட²ந் ஹே ஈஸ்²வர அஹமந்யலோகவத் லோட²யிதாந்யாயீ பாரதா³ரிகஸ்²ச ந ப⁴வாமி அஸ்ய கரஸஞ்சாயிநஸ்துல்யஸ்²ச ந, தஸ்மாத்த்வாம்’ த⁴ந்யம்’ வதா³மி|
The Pharisee stood forward and began praying to himself in this way – ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other men – thieves, rogues, adulterers – or even like this tax-gatherer.
12 ஸப்தஸு தி³நேஷு தி³நத்³வயமுபவஸாமி ஸர்வ்வஸம்பத்தே ர்த³ஸ²மாம்’ஸ²ம்’ த³தா³மி ச, ஏதத்கதா²ம்’ கத²யந் ப்ரார்த²யாமாஸ|
I fast twice a week, and give a tenth of everything I get to God.’
13 கிந்து ஸ கரஸஞ்சாயி தூ³ரே திஷ்ட²ந் ஸ்வர்க³ம்’ த்³ரஷ்டும்’ நேச்ச²ந் வக்ஷஸி கராகா⁴தம்’ குர்வ்வந் ஹே ஈஸ்²வர பாபிஷ்ட²ம்’ மாம்’ த³யஸ்வ, இத்த²ம்’ ப்ரார்த²யாமாஸ|
Meanwhile the tax-gatherer stood at a distance, not venturing even to raise his eyes to heaven, but he kept striking his breast and saying ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’
14 யுஷ்மாநஹம்’ வதா³மி, தயோர்த்³வயோ ர்மத்⁴யே கேவல: கரஸஞ்சாயீ புண்யவத்த்வேந க³ணிதோ நிஜக்³ரு’ஹம்’ ஜகா³ம, யதோ ய: கஸ்²சித் ஸ்வமுந்நமயதி ஸ நாமயிஷ்யதே கிந்து ய: கஸ்²சித் ஸ்வம்’ நமயதி ஸ உந்நமயிஷ்யதே|
This man, I tell you, went home pardoned, rather than the other. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, while everyone who humbles himself will be exalted.”
15 அத² ஸி²ஸூ²நாம்’ கா³த்ரஸ்பர்ஸா²ர்த²ம்’ லோகாஸ்தாந் தஸ்ய ஸமீபமாநிந்யு: ஸி²ஷ்யாஸ்தத்³ த்³ரு’ஷ்ட்வாநேத்ரு’ந் தர்ஜயாமாஸு: ,
Some of the people were bringing even their babies to Jesus, for him to touch them; but, when the disciples saw it, they began to find fault with those who had brought them.
16 கிந்து யீஸு²ஸ்தாநாஹூய ஜகா³த³, மந்நிகடம் ஆக³ந்தும்’ ஸி²ஸூ²ந் அநுஜாநீத்⁴வம்’ தாம்’ஸ்²ச மா வாரயத; யத ஈஸ்²வரராஜ்யாதி⁴காரிண ஏஷாம்’ ஸத்³ரு’ஸா²: |
Jesus, however, called the little children to him. “Let the little children come to me,” he said, “and do not hinder them, for it is to the childlike that the kingdom of God belongs.
17 அஹம்’ யுஷ்மாந் யதா²ர்த²ம்’ வதா³மி, யோ ஜந: ஸி²ஸோ²: ஸத்³ரு’ஸோ² பூ⁴த்வா ஈஸ்²வரராஜ்யம்’ ந க்³ரு’ஹ்லாதி ஸ கேநாபி ப்ரகாரேண தத் ப்ரவேஷ்டும்’ ந ஸ²க்நோதி|
I tell you, unless a man receives the kingdom of God like a child, he will not enter it at all.”
18 அபரம் ஏகோதி⁴பதிஸ்தம்’ பப்ரச்ச², ஹே பரமகு³ரோ, அநந்தாயுஷ: ப்ராப்தயே மயா கிம்’ கர்த்தவ்யம்’? (aiōnios g166)
And one of the leaders asked Jesus this question – “Good teacher, what must I do if I am to gain eternal life?” (aiōnios g166)
19 யீஸு²ருவாச, மாம்’ குத: பரமம்’ வத³ஸி? ஈஸ்²வரம்’ விநா கோபி பரமோ ந ப⁴வதி|
“Why do you call me good?” answered Jesus. “No one is good but God.
20 பரதா³ராந் மா க³ச்ச², நரம்’ மா ஜஹி, மா சோரய, மித்²யாஸாக்ஷ்யம்’ மா தே³ஹி, மாதரம்’ பிதரஞ்ச ஸம்’மந்யஸ்வ, ஏதா யா ஆஜ்ஞா: ஸந்தி தாஸ்த்வம்’ ஜாநாஸி|
You know the commandments – Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not say what is false about others, Honor your father and your mother.”
21 ததா³ ஸ உவாச, பா³ல்யகாலாத் ஸர்வ்வா ஏதா ஆசராமி|
“I have observed all these,” he replied, “from childhood.”
22 இதி கதா²ம்’ ஸ்²ருத்வா யீஸு²ஸ்தமவத³த், ததா²பி தவைகம்’ கர்ம்ம ந்யூநமாஸ்தே, நிஜம்’ ஸர்வ்வஸ்வம்’ விக்ரீய த³ரித்³ரேப்⁴யோ விதர, தஸ்மாத் ஸ்வர்கே³ த⁴நம்’ ப்ராப்ஸ்யஸி; தத ஆக³த்ய மமாநுகா³மீ ப⁴வ|
Hearing this, Jesus said to him, “There is one thing still lacking in you; sell everything that you have, and distribute to the poor, and you will have wealth in heaven; then come and follow me.”
23 கிந்த்வேதாம்’ கதா²ம்’ ஸ்²ருத்வா ஸோதி⁴பதி: ஸு²ஸோ²ச, யதஸ்தஸ்ய ப³ஹுத⁴நமாஸீத்|
But the man became greatly distressed on hearing this, for he was extremely rich.
24 ததா³ யீஸு²ஸ்தமதிஸோ²காந்விதம்’ த்³ரு’ஷ்ட்வா ஜகா³த³, த⁴நவதாம் ஈஸ்²வரராஜ்யப்ரவேஸ²: கீத்³ரு’க்³ து³ஷ்கர: |
Seeing this, Jesus said to his disciples, “How hard it is for the wealthy to enter the kingdom of God!
25 ஈஸ்²வரராஜ்யே த⁴நிந: ப்ரவேஸா²த் ஸூசேஸ்²சி²த்³ரேண மஹாங்க³ஸ்ய க³மநாக³மநே ஸுகரே|
It is easier, indeed, for a camel to get through a needle’s eye than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God!”
26 ஸ்²ரோதார: பப்ரச்சு²ஸ்தர்ஹி கேந பரித்ராணம்’ ப்ராப்ஸ்யதே?
“Then who can be saved?” asked those who heard this.
27 ஸ உக்தவாந், யந் மாநுஷேணாஸ²க்யம்’ தத்³ ஈஸ்²வரேண ஸ²க்யம்’|
But Jesus said, “What is impossible with people is possible with God.”
28 ததா³ பிதர உவாச, பஸ்²ய வயம்’ ஸர்வ்வஸ்வம்’ பரித்யஜ்ய தவ பஸ்²சாத்³கா³மிநோ(அ)ப⁴வாம|
“But we,” said Peter, “we left what belonged to us and followed you.”
29 தத: ஸ உவாச, யுஷ்மாநஹம்’ யதா²ர்த²ம்’ வதா³மி, ஈஸ்²வரராஜ்யார்த²ம்’ க்³ரு’ஹம்’ பிதரௌ ப்⁴ராத்ரு’க³ணம்’ ஜாயாம்’ ஸந்தாநாம்’ஸ்²ச த்யக்தவா
“I tell you,” he answered, “that there is no one who has left house, or wife, or brothers, or parents, or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God,
31 அநந்தரம்’ ஸ த்³வாத³ஸ²ஸி²ஷ்யாநாஹூய ப³பா⁴ஷே, பஸ்²யத வயம்’ யிரூஸா²லம்நக³ரம்’ யாம: , தஸ்மாத் மநுஷ்யபுத்ரே ப⁴விஷ்யத்³வாதி³பி⁴ருக்தம்’ யத³ஸ்தி தத³நுரூபம்’ தம்’ ப்ரதி க⁴டிஷ்யதே;
Gathering the Twelve around him, Jesus said to them, “Listen! We are going up to Jerusalem; and there everything that is written in the prophets will be done to the Son of Man.
32 வஸ்துதஸ்து ஸோ(அ)ந்யதே³ஸீ²யாநாம்’ ஹஸ்தேஷு ஸமர்பயிஷ்யதே, தே தமுபஹஸிஷ்யந்தி, அந்யாயமாசரிஷ்யந்தி தத்³வபுஷி நிஷ்டீ²வம்’ நிக்ஷேப்ஸ்யந்தி, கஸா²பி⁴: ப்ரஹ்ரு’த்ய தம்’ ஹநிஷ்யந்தி ச,
For he will be given up to the Gentiles, mocked, insulted and spat on;
33 கிந்து த்ரு’தீயதி³நே ஸ ஸ்²மஸா²நாத்³ உத்தா²ஸ்யதி|
they will scourge him, and then put him to death; and on the third day he will rise again.”
34 ஏதஸ்யா: கதா²யா அபி⁴ப்ராயம்’ கிஞ்சித³பி தே போ³த்³து⁴ம்’ ந ஸே²கு: தேஷாம்’ நிகடே(அ)ஸ்பஷ்டதவாத் தஸ்யைதாஸாம்’ கதா²நாம் ஆஸ²யம்’ தே ஜ்ஞாதும்’ ந ஸே²குஸ்²ச|
The apostles did not comprehend any of this. His meaning was unintelligible to them and they did not understand what he was saying.
35 அத² தஸ்மிந் யிரீஹோ: புரஸ்யாந்திகம்’ ப்ராப்தே கஸ்²சித³ந்த⁴: பத²: பார்ஸ்²வ உபவிஸ்²ய பி⁴க்ஷாம் அகரோத்
As Jesus was getting near Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the roadside, begging.
36 ஸ லோகஸமூஹஸ்ய க³மநஸ²ப்³த³ம்’ ஸ்²ருத்வா தத்காரணம்’ ப்ரு’ஷ்டவாந்|
Hearing a crowd going by, the man asked what was the matter;
37 நாஸரதீயயீஸு²ர்யாதீதி லோகைருக்தே ஸ உச்சைர்வக்துமாரேபே⁴,
and, when people told him that Jesus of Nazareth was passing,
38 ஹே தா³யூத³: ஸந்தாந யீஸோ² மாம்’ த³யஸ்வ|
he shouted out, “Jesus, Son of David, take pity on me!”
39 ததோக்³ரகா³மிநஸ்தம்’ மௌநீ திஷ்டே²தி தர்ஜயாமாஸு: கிந்து ஸ புநாருவந் உவாச, ஹே தா³யூத³: ஸந்தாந மாம்’ த³யஸ்வ|
Those who were in front kept telling him to be quiet, but he continued to call out the louder, “Son of David, take pity on me!”
40 ததா³ யீஸு²: ஸ்த²கி³தோ பூ⁴த்வா ஸ்வாந்திகே தமாநேதும் ஆதி³தே³ஸ²|
Then Jesus stopped and ordered the man to be brought to him. And, when he had come close up to him, Jesus asked him,
41 தத: ஸ தஸ்யாந்திகம் ஆக³மத், ததா³ ஸ தம்’ பப்ரச்ச², த்வம்’ கிமிச்ச²ஸி? த்வத³ர்த²மஹம்’ கிம்’ கரிஷ்யாமி? ஸ உக்தவாந், ஹே ப்ரபோ⁴(அ)ஹம்’ த்³ரஷ்டும்’ லபை⁴|
“What do you want me to do for you?” “Master,” he said, “I want to recover my sight.”
42 ததா³ யீஸு²ருவாச, த்³ரு’ஷ்டிஸ²க்திம்’ க்³ரு’ஹாண தவ ப்ரத்யயஸ்த்வாம்’ ஸ்வஸ்த²ம்’ க்ரு’தவாந்|
And Jesus said, “Recover your sight, your faith has delivered you.”
43 ததஸ்தத்க்ஷணாத் தஸ்ய சக்ஷுஷீ ப்ரஸந்நே; தஸ்மாத் ஸ ஈஸ்²வரம்’ த⁴ந்யம்’ வத³ந் தத்பஸ்²சாத்³ யயௌ, ததா³லோக்ய ஸர்வ்வே லோகா ஈஸ்²வரம்’ ப்ரஸ²ம்’ஸிதும் ஆரேபி⁴ரே|
Instantly he recovered his sight, and began to follow Jesus, praising God. And all the people, on seeing it, gave glory to God.
