1 மம ப்ரத²ம ஆதே³ஸோ²(அ)யம்’, ப்ரார்த²நாவிநயநிவேத³நத⁴ந்யவாதா³: கர்த்தவ்யா: ,
I exhort, therefore, first of all, that there be made—supplications, prayers, intercessions, thankgivings, in behalf of all men,
2 ஸர்வ்வேஷாம்’ மாநவாநாம்’ க்ரு’தே விஸே²ஷதோ வயம்’ யத் ஸா²ந்தத்வேந நிர்வ்விரோத⁴த்வேந சேஸ்²சரப⁴க்திம்’ விநீதத்வஞ்சாசரந்த: காலம்’ யாபயாமஸ்தத³ர்த²ம்’ ந்ரு’பதீநாம் உச்சபத³ஸ்தா²நாஞ்ச க்ரு’தே தே கர்த்தவ்யா: |
In behalf of kings, and all them who are, in eminent station; in order that, an undisturbed, and quiet life, we may lead, in all godliness and gravity:
3 யதோ(அ)ஸ்மாகம்’ தாரகஸ்யேஸ்²வரஸ்ய ஸாக்ஷாத் ததே³வோத்தமம்’ க்³ராஹ்யஞ்ச ப⁴வதி,
This, is comely and acceptable before our Saviour God,
4 ஸ ஸர்வ்வேஷாம்’ மாநவாநாம்’ பரித்ராணம்’ ஸத்யஜ்ஞாநப்ராப்திஞ்சேச்ச²தி|
Who willeth, all men, to be saved, and, unto a personal knowledge of truth, to come;
5 யத ஏகோ(அ)த்³விதீய ஈஸ்²வரோ வித்³யதே கிஞ்சேஸ்²வரே மாநவேஷு சைகோ (அ)த்³விதீயோ மத்⁴யஸ்த²:
For there is, one, God, one, mediator also, between God and men, —a man—Christ Jesus:
6 ஸ நராவதார: க்²ரீஷ்டோ யீஸு² ர்வித்³யதே ய: ஸர்வ்வேஷாம்’ முக்தே ர்மூல்யம் ஆத்மதா³நம்’ க்ரு’தவாந்| ஏதேந யேந ப்ரமாணேநோபயுக்தே ஸமயே ப்ரகாஸி²தவ்யம்’,
Who gave himself a ransom in behalf of all, —the testimony, in its own fit times:
7 தத்³கோ⁴ஷயிதா தூ³தோ விஸ்²வாஸே ஸத்யத⁴ர்ம்மே ச பி⁴ந்நஜாதீயாநாம் உபதே³ஸ²கஸ்²சாஹம்’ ந்யயூஜ்யே, ஏதத³ஹம்’ க்²ரீஷ்டஸ்ய நாம்நா யதா²தத்²யம்’ வதா³மி நாந்ரு’தம்’ கத²யாமி|
Unto which, I, have been appointed proclaimer and apostle—Truth I speak, I utter no falsehood—a teacher of nations, in faith and truth.
8 அதோ மமாபி⁴மதமித³ம்’ புருஷை: க்ரோத⁴ஸந்தே³ஹௌ விநா பவித்ரகராந் உத்தோல்ய ஸர்வ்வஸ்மிந் ஸ்தா²நே ப்ரார்த²நா க்ரியதாம்’|
I am minded, therefore, that—the men in every place be offering prayer, uplifting hands of lovingkindness, apart from anger and disputings;
9 தத்³வத் நார்ய்யோ(அ)பி ஸலஜ்ஜா: ஸம்’யதமநஸஸ்²ச ஸத்யோ யோக்³யமாச்சா²த³நம்’ பரித³த⁴து கிஞ்ச கேஸ²ஸம்’ஸ்காரை: கணகமுக்தாபி⁴ ர்மஹார்க்⁴யபரிச்ச²தை³ஸ்²சாத்மபூ⁴ஷணம்’ ந குர்வ்வத்ய:
In the same way, that, the women, in seemly attire, with modesty and sober-mindedness, be adorning themselves, —not with plaitings and ornamentation of gold, or with pearls, or with costly apparel, —
10 ஸ்வீக்ரு’தேஸ்²வரப⁴க்தீநாம்’ யோஷிதாம்’ யோக்³யை: ஸத்யர்ம்மபி⁴: ஸ்வபூ⁴ஷணம்’ குர்வ்வதாம்’|
But, which becometh women promising godliness, through means of good works.
11 நாரீ ஸம்பூர்ணவிநீதத்வேந நிர்விரோத⁴ம்’ ஸி²க்ஷதாம்’|
Let, a woman, in quietness, be learning in all submission;
12 நார்ய்யா: ஸி²க்ஷாதா³நம்’ புருஷாயாஜ்ஞாதா³நம்’ வாஹம்’ நாநுஜாநாமி தயா நிர்வ்விரோத⁴த்வம் ஆசரிதவ்யம்’|
But, teaching—unto a woman, I do not permit, nor yet to have authority over a man, —but to be in quietness;
13 யத: ப்ரத²மம் ஆத³மஸ்தத: பரம்’ ஹவாயா: ஸ்ரு’ஷ்டி ர்ப³பூ⁴வ|
For, Adam, first was formed, then Eve,
14 கிஞ்சாத³ம் ப்⁴ராந்தியுக்தோ நாப⁴வத் யோஷிதே³வ ப்⁴ராந்தியுக்தா பூ⁴த்வாத்யாசாரிணீ ப³பூ⁴வ|
And, Adam, was not deceived, whereas, the woman, having been wholly deceived, hath come to be, in transgression;
15 ததா²பி நாரீக³ணோ யதி³ விஸ்²வாஸே ப்ரேம்நி பவித்ரதாயாம்’ ஸம்’யதமநஸி ச திஷ்ட²தி தர்ஹ்யபத்யப்ரஸவவர்த்மநா பரித்ராணம்’ ப்ராப்ஸ்யதி|
She shall be saved, however, through means of the child-bearing, —if they abide in faith, and love, and holiness, with sobermindedness. Faithful, the saying.
