1 கரிந்தி²ந​: 8

1 தே³வப்ரஸாதே³ ஸர்வ்வேஷாம் அஸ்மாகம்’ ஜ்ஞாநமாஸ்தே தத்³வயம்’ வித்³ம​: | ததா²பி ஜ்ஞாநம்’ க³ர்வ்வம்’ ஜநயதி கிந்து ப்ரேமதோ நிஷ்டா² ஜாயதே|

Now, concerning the idol-sacrifices, we are aware—because we, all, have knowledge, —knowledge, puffeth up, but, love, buildeth up;

2 அத​: கஸ்²சந யதி³ மந்யதே மம ஜ்ஞாநமாஸ்த இதி தர்ஹி தேந யாத்³ரு’ஸ²ம்’ ஜ்ஞாநம்’ சேஷ்டிதவ்யம்’ தாத்³ரு’ஸ²ம்’ கிமபி ஜ்ஞாநமத்³யாபி ந லப்³த⁴ம்’|

If anyone thinketh that he knoweth anything, not yet knoweth he, as he must needs come to know,

3 கிந்து ய ஈஸ்²வரே ப்ரீயதே ஸ ஈஸ்²வரேணாபி ஜ்ஞாயதே|

But, if anyone loveth God, the same, is known of him—

4 தே³வதாப³லிப்ரஸாத³ப⁴க்ஷணே வயமித³ம்’ வித்³மோ யத் ஜக³ந்மத்⁴யே கோ(அ)பி தே³வோ ந வித்³யதே, ஏகஸ்²சேஸ்²வரோ த்³விதீயோ நாஸ்தீதி|

Concerning, then, the eating of idol-sacrifices, we are aware—that an idol is, nothing, in the world, and that, none, is God save one.

5 ஸ்வர்கே³ ப்ரு’தி²வ்யாம்’ வா யத்³யபி கேஷுசித்³ ஈஸ்²வர இதி நாமாரோப்யதே தாத்³ரு’ஸா²ஸ்²ச ப³ஹவ ஈஸ்²வரா ப³ஹவஸ்²ச ப்ரப⁴வோ வித்³யந்தே

For, if indeed there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or upon earth, —as indeed there are gods many and lords many,

6 ததா²ப்யஸ்மாகமத்³விதீய ஈஸ்²வர​: ஸ பிதா யஸ்மாத் ஸர்வ்வேஷாம்’ யத³ர்த²ஞ்சாஸ்மாகம்’ ஸ்ரு’ஷ்டி ர்ஜாதா, அஸ்மாகஞ்சாத்³விதீய​: ப்ரபு⁴​: ஸ யீஸு²​: க்²ரீஷ்டோ யேந ஸர்வ்வவஸ்தூநாம்’ யேநாஸ்மாகமபி ஸ்ரு’ஷ்டி​: க்ரு’தா|

[Yet], to us, there is one God the Father, of whom are all things, and, we, for him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and, we, through him.

7 அதி⁴கந்து ஜ்ஞாநம்’ ஸர்வ்வேஷாம்’ நாஸ்தி யத​: கேசித³த்³யாபி தே³வதாம்’ ஸம்மந்ய தே³வப்ரஸாத³மிவ தத்³ ப⁴க்ஷ்யம்’ பு⁴ஞ்ஜதே தேந து³ர்ப்³ப³லதயா தேஷாம்’ ஸ்வாந்தாநி மலீமஸாநி ப⁴வந்தி|

Howbeit, not in all, is the knowledge; but, some, by their familiarity, until even now, with the idol, as an idol-sacrifice, eat it, and, their conscience, being, weak, is defiled.

8 கிந்து ப⁴க்ஷ்யத்³ரவ்யாத்³ வயம் ஈஸ்²வரேண க்³ராஹ்யா ப⁴வாமஸ்தந்நஹி யதோ பு⁴ங்க்த்வா வயமுத்க்ரு’ஷ்டா ந ப⁴வாமஸ்தத்³வத³பு⁴ங்க்த்வாப்யபக்ரு’ஷ்டா ந ப⁴வாம​: |

Food, indeed, will not commend us unto God, —neither, if we eat not, do we lack, nor, if we eat, do we abound.

9 அதோ யுஷ்மாகம்’ யா க்ஷமதா ஸா து³ர்ப்³ப³லாநாம் உந்மாத²ஸ்வரூபா யந்ந ப⁴வேத் தத³ர்த²ம்’ ஸாவதா⁴நா ப⁴வத|

But be taking heed, lest, by any means, your right, itself, become, an occasion of stumbling, unto the weak;

10 யதோ ஜ்ஞாநவிஸி²ஷ்டஸ்த்வம்’ யதி³ தே³வாலயே உபவிஷ்ட​: கேநாபி த்³ரு’ஸ்²யஸே தர்ஹி தஸ்ய து³ர்ப்³ப³லஸ்ய மநஸி கிம்’ ப்ரஸாத³ப⁴க்ஷண உத்ஸாஹோ ந ஜநிஷ்யதே?

For, if anyone should see [thee] who hast knowledge, in an idol-temple, reclining, will not, his conscience, being, weak, be built up for the eating of the idol-sacrifices?

11 ததா² ஸதி யஸ்ய க்ரு’தே க்²ரீஷ்டோ மமார தவ ஸ து³ர்ப்³ப³லோ ப்⁴ராதா தவ ஜ்ஞாநாத் கிம்’ ந விநம்’க்ஷ்யதி?

In fact, he that is weak, is being destroyed, by thy knowledge—the brother for whose sake Christ died.

12 இத்யநேந ப்ரகாரேண ப்⁴ராத்ரு’ணாம்’ விருத்³த⁴ம் அபராத்⁴யத்³பி⁴ஸ்தேஷாம்’ து³ர்ப்³ப³லாநி மநாம்’ஸி வ்யாகா⁴தயத்³பி⁴ஸ்²ச யுஷ்மாபி⁴​: க்²ரீஷ்டஸ்ய வைபரீத்யேநாபராத்⁴யதே|

But, in thus sinning against the brethren am wounding their conscience, seeing it is weak, against Christ, are ye sinning.

13 அதோ ஹேதோ​: பிஸி²தாஸ²நம்’ யதி³ மம ப்⁴ராது ர்விக்⁴நஸ்வரூபம்’ ப⁴வேத் தர்ஹ்யஹம்’ யத் ஸ்வப்⁴ராது ர்விக்⁴நஜநகோ ந ப⁴வேயம்’ தத³ர்த²ம்’ யாவஜ்ஜீவநம்’ பிஸி²தம்’ ந போ⁴க்ஷ்யே| (aiōn g165)

Therefore, if food is an occasion of stumbling unto my brother, in nowise will I eat flesh unto the age that abideth, —that, I may not occasion, my brother, to stumble. (aiōn g165)
