lūkaḥ 5
1 anantaraṁ yīśurekadā gineṣarathdasya tīra uttiṣṭhati, tadā lokā īśvarīyakathāṁ śrotuṁ tadupari prapatitāḥ|
Now while the multitude pressed on him and heard ha D'var Elohim · the Word of God·, he was standing by the lake of Gennesaret.
2 tadānīṁ sa hdasya tīrasamīpe naudvayaṁ dadarśa kiñca matsyopajīvino nāvaṁ vihāya jālaṁ prakṣālayanti|
He saw two boats standing by the lake, but the fishermen had gone out of them, and were washing their nets.
3 tatastayordvayo rmadhye śimono nāvamāruhya tīrāt kiñciddūraṁ yātuṁ tasmin vinayaṁ kṛtvā naukāyāmupaviśya lokān propadiṣṭavān|
He entered into one of the boats, which was Simeon [Hearing]’s, and asked him to put out a little from the land. He sat down and taught the multitudes from the boat.
4 paścāt taṁ prastāvaṁ samāpya sa śimonaṁ vyājahāra, gabhīraṁ jalaṁ gatvā matsyān dharttuṁ jālaṁ nikṣipa|
When he had finished speaking, he said to Simeon [Hearing], “Put out into the deep, and let down your nets for a catch.”
5 tataḥ śimona babhāṣe, he guro yadyapi vayaṁ kṛtsnāṁ yāminīṁ pariśramya matsyaikamapi na prāptāstathāpi bhavato nideśato jālaṁ kṣipāmaḥ|
Simeon [Hearing] answered him, “Master, we worked all night, and took nothing; but at your word I will let down the net.”
6 atha jāle kṣipte bahumatsyapatanād ānāyaḥ pracchinnaḥ|
When they had done this, they caught a great multitude of fish, and their net was breaking.
7 tasmād upakarttum anyanausthān saṅgina āyātum iṅgitena samāhvayan tatasta āgatya matsyai rnaudvayaṁ prapūrayāmāsu ryai rnaudvayaṁ pramagnam|
They beckoned to their partners in the other boat, that they should come and help them. They came, and filled both boats, so that they began to sink.
8 tadā śimonpitarastad vilokya yīśoścaraṇayoḥ patitvā, he prabhohaṁ pāpī naro mama nikaṭād bhavān yātu, iti kathitavān|
But Simeon Peter [Hearing Rock], when he saw it, fell down at Yeshua [Salvation]'s knees, saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, Lord.”
9 yato jāle patitānāṁ matsyānāṁ yūthāt śimon tatsaṅginaśca camatkṛtavantaḥ; śimonaḥ sahakāriṇau sivadeḥ putrau yākūb yohan cemau tādṛśau babhūvatuḥ|
For he was amazed, and all who were with him, at the catch of fish which they had caught;
10 tadā yīśuḥ śimonaṁ jagāda mā bhaiṣīradyārabhya tvaṁ manuṣyadharo bhaviṣyasi|
and so also were James [Surplanter] and John [Yah is gracious], sons of Zebedee [Bestowed by Yah], who were partners with Simeon [Hearing]. Yeshua [Salvation] said to Simeon [Hearing], “Don’t be afraid. From now on you will be catching people alive.”
11 anantaraṁ sarvvāsu nausu tīram ānītāsu te sarvvān parityajya tasya paścādgāmino babhūvuḥ|
When they had brought their boats to land, they left everything, and followed him.
12 tataḥ paraṁ yīśau kasmiṁścit pure tiṣṭhati jana ekaḥ sarvvāṅgakuṣṭhastaṁ vilokya tasya samīpe nyubjaḥ patitvā savinayaṁ vaktumārebhe, he prabho yadi bhavānicchati tarhi māṁ pariṣkarttuṁ śaknoti|
While he was in one of the cities, behold, there was a man full of tzara'at ·leprosy·. When he saw Yeshua [Salvation], he fell on his face, and begged him, saying, “Lord, if you want to, you can make me clean.”
13 tadānīṁ sa pāṇiṁ prasāryya tadaṅgaṁ spṛśan babhāṣe tvaṁ pariṣkriyasveti mamecchāsti tatastatkṣaṇaṁ sa kuṣṭhāt muktaḥ|
He stretched out his hand, and touched him, saying, “I want to. Be made clean.” Immediately the tzara'at ·leprosy· left him.
14 paścāt sa tamājñāpayāmāsa kathāmimāṁ kasmaicid akathayitvā yājakasya samīpañca gatvā svaṁ darśaya, lokebhyo nijapariṣkṛtatvasya pramāṇadānāya mūsājñānusāreṇa dravyamutmṛjasva ca|
He commanded him to tell no one. “Instead, as a testimony to the people, go straight to the priest and make an offer for your cleansing, as Moses [Drawn out] commanded.”
15 tathāpi yīśoḥ sukhyāti rbahu vyāptumārebhe kiñca tasya kathāṁ śrotuṁ svīyarogebhyo moktuñca lokā ājagmuḥ|
But the report concerning him spread much more, and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by him of their infirmities.
16 atha sa prāntaraṁ gatvā prārthayāñcakre|
But he withdrew himself into the desert, and prayed.
17 aparañca ekadā yīśurupadiśati, etarhi gālīlyihūdāpradeśayoḥ sarvvanagarebhyo yirūśālamaśca kiyantaḥ phirūśilokā vyavasthāpakāśca samāgatya tadantike samupaviviśuḥ, tasmin kāle lokānāmārogyakāraṇāt prabhoḥ prabhāvaḥ pracakāśe|
On one of those days, he was teaching; and there were Pharisees [Separated] and Torah-Teachers sitting by, who had come out of every village of Galilee [District, Circuit], Judea [Praise], and Jerusalem [City of peace]. The power of MarYah [Master Yahweh] was with him to heal them.
18 paścāt kiyanto lokā ekaṁ pakṣāghātinaṁ khaṭvāyāṁ nidhāya yīśoḥ samīpamānetuṁ sammukhe sthāpayituñca vyāpriyanta|
Behold, men brought a paralyzed man on a cot, and they sought to bring him in to lay before Yeshua [Salvation].
19 kintu bahujananivahasamvādhāt na śaknuvanto gṛhopari gatvā gṛhapṛṣṭhaṁ khanitvā taṁ pakṣāghātinaṁ sakhaṭvaṁ gṛhamadhye yīśoḥ sammukhe 'varohayāmāsuḥ|
Not finding a way to bring him in because of the multitude, they went up to the housetop, and let him down through the tiles with his cot into the middle before Yeshua [Salvation].
20 tadā yīśusteṣām īdṛśaṁ viśvāsaṁ vilokya taṁ pakṣāghātinaṁ vyājahāra, he mānava tava pāpamakṣamyata|
Seeing their trusting faith, he said to him, “Man, your sins are forgiven you.”
21 tasmād adhyāpakāḥ phirūśinaśca cittairitthaṁ pracintitavantaḥ, eṣa jana īśvaraṁ nindati koyaṁ? kevalamīśvaraṁ vinā pāpaṁ kṣantuṁ kaḥ śaknoti?
The Torah-Teachers and the Pharisees [Separated] began to reason, saying, “Who is this that speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?”
22 tadā yīśusteṣām itthaṁ cintanaṁ viditvā tebhyokathayad yūyaṁ manobhiḥ kuto vitarkayatha?
But Yeshua [Salvation], perceiving their thoughts, answered them, “Why are you reasoning so in your hearts?
23 tava pāpakṣamā jātā yadvā tvamutthāya vraja etayo rmadhye kā kathā sukathyā?
Which is easier to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven you;’ or to say, ‘Arise and walk?’
24 kintu pṛthivyāṁ pāpaṁ kṣantuṁ mānavasutasya sāmarthyamastīti yathā yūyaṁ jñātuṁ śaknutha tadarthaṁ (sa taṁ pakṣāghātinaṁ jagāda) uttiṣṭha svaśayyāṁ gṛhītvā gṛhaṁ yāhīti tvāmādiśāmi|
But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins” (he said to the paralyzed man), “I tell you, arise, and take up your cot, and go to your house.”
25 tasmāt sa tatkṣaṇam utthāya sarvveṣāṁ sākṣāt nijaśayanīyaṁ gṛhītvā īśvaraṁ dhanyaṁ vadan nijaniveśanaṁ yayau|
Immediately he rose up before them, and took up that which he was laying on, and departed to his house, glorifying God.
26 tasmāt sarvve vismaya prāptā manaḥsu bhītāśca vayamadyāsambhavakāryyāṇyadarśāma ityuktvā parameśvaraṁ dhanyaṁ proditāḥ|
Amazement took hold on all, and they glorified God. They were filled with fear, saying, “We have seen strange things today.”
27 tataḥ paraṁ bahirgacchan karasañcayasthāne levināmānaṁ karasañcāyakaṁ dṛṣṭvā yīśustamabhidadhe mama paścādehi|
After these things he went out, and saw a tax collector named Levi [United with] sitting at the tax office, and said to him, “Follow me!”
28 tasmāt sa tatkṣaṇāt sarvvaṁ parityajya tasya paścādiyāya|
He left everything, and rose up and followed him.
29 anantaraṁ levi rnijagṛhe tadarthaṁ mahābhojyaṁ cakāra, tadā taiḥ sahāneke karasañcāyinastadanyalokāśca bhoktumupaviviśuḥ|
Levi [United with] made a great feast for him in his house. There was a great crowd of tax collectors and others who were reclining with them.
30 tasmāt kāraṇāt caṇḍālānāṁ pāpilokānāñca saṅge yūyaṁ kuto bhaṁgdhve pivatha ceti kathāṁ kathayitvā phirūśino'dhyāpakāśca tasya śiṣyaiḥ saha vāgyuddhaṁ karttumārebhire|
Their Torah-Teachers and the Pharisees [Separated] murmured against his disciples, saying, “Why do you eat and drink with the tax collectors and sinners?”
31 tasmād yīśustān pratyavocad arogalokānāṁ cikitsakena prayojanaṁ nāsti kintu sarogāṇāmeva|
Yeshua [Salvation] answered them, “Those who are healthy have no need for a physician, but those who are sick do.
32 ahaṁ dhārmmikān āhvātuṁ nāgatosmi kintu manaḥ parāvarttayituṁ pāpina eva|
I have not come to call the upright, but sinners to teshuvah ·complete repentance·.”
33 tataste procuḥ, yohanaḥ phirūśināñca śiṣyā vāraṁvāram upavasanti prārthayante ca kintu tava śiṣyāḥ kuto bhuñjate pivanti ca?
They said to him, “Why do John [Yah is gracious]’s disciples often fast and pray, likewise also the disciples of the Pharisees [Separated], but yours eat and drink?”
34 tadā sa tānācakhyau vare saṅge tiṣṭhati varasya sakhigaṇaṁ kimupavāsayituṁ śaknutha?
He said to them, “Can you make the friends of the bridegroom fast, while the bridegroom is with them?
35 kintu yadā teṣāṁ nikaṭād varo neṣyate tadā te samupavatsyanti|
But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them. Then they will fast in those days.”
36 soparamapi dṛṣṭāntaṁ kathayāmbabhūva purātanavastre kopi nutanavastraṁ na sīvyati yatastena sevanena jīrṇavastraṁ chidyate, nūtanapurātanavastrayo rmelañca na bhavati|
He also told a parable to them. “No one puts a piece from a new garment on an old garment, or else he will tear the new, and also the piece from the new will not match the old.
37 purātanyāṁ kutvāṁ kopi nutanaṁ drākṣārasaṁ na nidadhāti, yato navīnadrākṣārasasya tejasā purātanī kutū rvidīryyate tato drākṣārasaḥ patati kutūśca naśyati|
No one puts new wine into old wine skins, or else the new wine will burst the skins, and it will be spilled, and the skins will be destroyed.
38 tato heto rnūtanyāṁ kutvāṁ navīnadrākṣārasaḥ nidhātavyastenobhayasya rakṣā bhavati|
But new wine must be put into fresh wine skins, and both are preserved.
39 aparañca purātanaṁ drākṣārasaṁ pītvā kopi nūtanaṁ na vāñchati, yataḥ sa vakti nūtanāt purātanam praśastam|
No man having drunk old wine immediately desires new, for he says, ‘The old is better.’”
