1 athaikadA yIzu rmanidare susaMvAdaM pracArayan lokAnupadizati, etarhi pradhAnayAjakA adhyApakAH prAJcazca tannikaTamAgatya papracchuH
And it came to pass on one of the days (of those *k) when is teaching He the people in the temple and evangelising came up the (chief priests *NK+o) and the scribes with the elders
2 kayAjJayA tvaM karmmANyetAni karoSi? ko vA tvAmAjJApayat? tadasmAn vada|
and spoke saying to Him: do tell us by what authority these things You do or who is the [one] having given to You authority this?
3 sa pratyuvAca, tarhi yuSmAnapi kathAmekAM pRcchAmi tasyottaraM vadata|
Answering now He said to them; Will ask you I myself also I myself also (one *k) thing, and do tell Me:
4 yohano majjanam Izvarasya mAnuSANAM vAjJAto jAtaM?
The baptism of John from heaven was it or from men?
5 tataste mitho vivicya jagaduH, yadIzvarasya vadAmastarhi taM kuto na pratyaita sa iti vakSyati|
And they reasoned among themselves saying that If we shall say: From heaven, He will say; Because of why (therefore *K) not did you believe in him?
6 yadi manuSyasyeti vadAmastarhi sarvve lokA asmAn pASANai rhaniSyanti yato yohan bhaviSyadvAdIti sarvve dRDhaM jAnanti|
If however we shall say; From men, the people (all *N+kO) will stone us; persuaded for they are John a prophet to be.
7 ataeva te pratyUcuH kasyAjJayA jAtam iti vaktuM na zaknumaH|
And they answered not to know from where.
8 tadA yIzuravadat tarhi kayAjJayA karmmANyetAti karomIti ca yuSmAn na vakSyAmi|
And Jesus said to them; Neither I myself tell you by what authority these things I am doing.
9 atha lokAnAM sAkSAt sa imAM dRSTAntakathAM vaktumArebhe, kazcid drAkSAkSetraM kRtvA tat kSetraM kRSIvalAnAM hasteSu samarpya bahukAlArthaM dUradezaM jagAma|
He began then to the people to speak parable this: A man (certain *NK) planted a vineyard and rented it to farmers and went abroad a time long.
10 atha phalakAle phalAni grahItu kRSIvalAnAM samIpe dAsaM prAhiNot kintu kRSIvalAstaM prahRtya riktahastaM visasarjuH|
And (in *k) [in the] season he sent to the farmers a servant that from the fruit of the vineyard (they will give *N+kO) to him; But the farmers sent away him having beaten [him] empty-handed.
11 tataH sodhipatiH punaranyaM dAsaM preSayAmAsa, te tamapi prahRtya kuvyavahRtya riktahastaM visasRjuH|
And he proceeded another to send a servant; but him him having beaten and having dishonored they sent away empty-handed.
12 tataH sa tRtIyavAram anyaM prAhiNot te tamapi kSatAGgaM kRtvA bahi rnicikSipuH|
And he proceeded a third to send; They then also him having wounded they cast out.
13 tadA kSetrapati rvicArayAmAsa, mamedAnIM kiM karttavyaM? mama priye putre prahite te tamavazyaM dRSTvA samAdariSyante|
Said then the master of the vineyard; What shall I do? I will send the son of mine the beloved; perhaps him (having seen *K) they will respect.
14 kintu kRSIvalAstaM nirIkSya parasparaM vivicya procuH, ayamuttarAdhikArI AgacchatainaM hanmastatodhikArosmAkaM bhaviSyati|
Having seen now him the farmers were reasoning among (one another *N+kO) saying; This is the heir; (come *K) let us kill him so that ours may become the inheritance.
15 tataste taM kSetrAd bahi rnipAtya jaghnustasmAt sa kSetrapatistAn prati kiM kariSyati?
And having cast forth him outside the vineyard they killed [him]. What therefore will do to them the master of the vineyard?
16 sa Agatya tAn kRSIvalAn hatvA pareSAM hasteSu tatkSetraM samarpayiSyati; iti kathAM zrutvA te 'vadan etAdRzI ghaTanA na bhavatu|
He will come and he will destroy farmers these and will give the vineyard to others. Having heard [it] then they said; Never would it be!
17 kintu yIzustAnavalokya jagAda, tarhi, sthapatayaH kariSyanti grAvANaM yantu tucchakaM| pradhAnaprastaraH koNe sa eva hi bhaviSyati| etasya zAstrIyavacanasya kiM tAtparyyaM?
But having looked at them He said; What then is that written this: [The] stone which rejected those building, this has become into [the] head of [the] corner’?
18 aparaM tatpASANopari yaH patiSyati sa bhaMkSyate kintu yasyopari sa pASANaH patiSyati sa tena dhUlivac cUrNIbhaviSyati|
Everyone falling on that [very] stone will be broken; on whomever but maybe it may fall, it will grind into powder him.
19 sosmAkaM viruddhaM dRSTAntamimaM kathitavAn iti jJAtvA pradhAnayAjakA adhyApakAzca tadaiva taM dhartuM vavAJchuH kintu lokebhyo bibhyuH|
And sought the scribes and the chief priests to lay on Him hands in that hour and they feared the people; they perceived for that against them He was speaking parable this.
20 ataeva taM prati satarkAH santaH kathaM tadvAkyadoSaM dhRtvA taM dezAdhipasya sAdhuvezadhAriNazcarAn tasya samIpe preSayAmAsuH|
And having watched [Him] they sent spies feigning themselves righteous to be, that they may catch Him in talk, (in order *N+kO) to deliver Him to the rule and to the authority of the governor.
21 tadA te taM papracchuH, he upadezaka bhavAn yathArthaM kathayan upadizati, kamapyanapekSya satyatvenaizvaraM mArgamupadizati, vayametajjAnImaH|
And they questioned Him saying; Teacher, we know that rightly You speak and You teach and not You receive [any] person but on the basis of truth the way of God teach.
22 kaisararAjAya karosmAbhi rdeyo na vA?
Is it lawful (for us *N+kO) to Caesar tribute to give or not?
23 sa teSAM vaJcanaM jJAtvAvadat kuto mAM parIkSadhve? mAM mudrAmekaM darzayata|
having perceived however of them the craftiness He said to them (why *KO) (me do you test; *K)
24 iha likhitA mUrtiriyaM nAma ca kasya? te'vadan kaisarasya|
(do show *N+kO) Me a denarius; Of whom has it [the] image and inscription? (Those *N+KO) And they said; Caesar’s.
25 tadA sa uvAca, tarhi kaisarasya dravyaM kaisarAya datta; Izvarasya tu dravyamIzvarAya datta|
And He said (to *no) (them; *N+kO) Therefore do give back the [things] of Caesar to Caesar and the [things] of God to God.
26 tasmAllokAnAM sAkSAt tatkathAyAH kamapi doSaM dhartumaprApya te tasyottarAd AzcaryyaM manyamAnA mauninastasthuH|
And not they were able to catch Him in (His *NK+o) declaration before the people, and having marveled at the answer of Him they became silent.
27 aparaJca zmazAnAdutthAnAnaGgIkAriNAM sidUkinAM kiyanto janA Agatya taM papracchuH,
Having approached then some of the Sadducees, the ones (denying *NK+o) a resurrection not being, they questioned Him
28 he upadezaka zAstre mUsA asmAn pratIti lilekha yasya bhrAtA bhAryyAyAM satyAM niHsantAno mriyate sa tajjAyAM vivahya tadvaMzam utpAdayiSyati|
saying; Teacher, Moses wrote to us: if anyone’s brother shall die having a wife and he childless (shall be, *N+KO) that shall take the brother of him the wife and shall raise up seed to the brother of him.
29 tathAca kecit sapta bhrAtara Asan teSAM jyeSTho bhrAtA vivahya nirapatyaH prANAn jahau|
Seven therefore brothers there were; and the first having taken a wife died childless,
30 atha dvitIyastasya jAyAM vivahya nirapatyaH san mamAra| tRtIyazca tAmeva vyuvAha;
and (took *K) the second (wife and this died childless *K)
31 itthaM sapta bhrAtarastAmeva vivahya nirapatyAH santo mamruH|
and the third took her (likewise *o) likewise then also the seven not did leave children and died.
32 zeSe sA strI ca mamAra|
Finally (now of all *K) also the woman died.
33 ataeva zmazAnAdutthAnakAle teSAM saptajanAnAM kasya sA bhAryyA bhaviSyati? yataH sA teSAM saptAnAmeva bhAryyAsIt|
(The woman *no) therefore in the resurrection, of which of them does she become wife? For the seven had her as wife.
34 tadA yIzuH pratyuvAca, etasya jagato lokA vivahanti vAgdattAzca bhavanti (aiōn g165)
And (answering *k) said to them Jesus; The sons of the age this marry and (are given in marriage, *N+kO) (aiōn g165)
35 kintu ye tajjagatprAptiyogyatvena gaNitAM bhaviSyanti zmazAnAccotthAsyanti te na vivahanti vAgdattAzca na bhavanti, (aiōn g165)
those however having been considered worthy of the age that [one] to obtain and of the resurrection from [the] dead neither marry nor (are given in marriage; *N+k+o) (aiōn g165)
36 te puna rna mriyante kintu zmazAnAdutthApitAH santa Izvarasya santAnAH svargIyadUtAnAM sadRzAzca bhavanti|
(neither *N+kO) for to die any more are they able, like [the] angels for they are, and sons they are of God of the resurrection sons being.
37 adhikantu mUsAH stambopAkhyAne paramezvara IbrAhIma Izvara ishAka Izvaro yAkUbazcezvara ityuktvA mRtAnAM zmazAnAd utthAnasya pramANaM lilekha|
for however are raised the dead, even Moses showed at the bush when he names [the] Lord the God of Abraham and (the *k) God of Isaac and (the *k) God of Jacob.’
38 ataeva ya IzvaraH sa mRtAnAM prabhu rna kintu jIvatAmeva prabhuH, tannikaTe sarvve jIvantaH santi|
God now not He is of [the] dead but of [the] living; all for to Him live.
39 iti zrutvA kiyantodhyApakA UcuH, he upadezaka bhavAn bhadraM pratyuktavAn|
Answering now some of the scribes said; Teacher, well you have spoken.
40 itaH paraM taM kimapi praSTaM teSAM pragalbhatA nAbhUt|
no longer no longer (then *N+kO) were they daring to ask Him no [thing].
41 pazcAt sa tAn uvAca, yaH khrISTaH sa dAyUdaH santAna etAM kathAM lokAH kathaM kathayanti?
He said then to them; How do they declare the Christ to be David's Son
42 yataH mama prabhumidaM vAkyamavadat paramezvaraH| tava zatrUnahaM yAvat pAdapIThaM karomi na| tAvat kAlaM madIye tvaM dakSapArzva upAviza|
(and *ko) Himself (for *no) David says in [the] book of Psalms: Said (the *ko) Lord to the Lord of me; do sit at [the] right hand of Me
43 iti kathAM dAyUd svayaM gItagranthe'vadat|
until when I may place the enemies of You [as] a footstool of the feet of You.
44 ataeva yadi dAyUd taM prabhuM vadati, tarhi sa kathaM tasya santAno bhavati?
David therefore Lord Him calls, and how of him son is He?
45 pazcAd yIzuH sarvvajanAnAM karNagocare ziSyAnuvAca,
When are listening now all the people He said to the disciples of Him;
46 ye'dhyApakA dIrghaparicchadaM paridhAya bhramanti, haTTApaNayo rnamaskAre bhajanagehasya proccAsane bhojanagRhasya pradhAnasthAne ca prIyante
do beware of the scribes who are desiring to walk in long robes and loving greetings in the marketplaces and first seats in the synagogues and first places in the banquets,
47 vidhavAnAM sarvvasvaM grasitvA chalena dIrghakAlaM prArthayante ca teSu sAvadhAnA bhavata, teSAmugradaNDo bhaviSyati|
who devour the houses of widows and as a pretext at great length pray; These will receive more excessive condemnation.
