Since, indeed, many have attempted to set in order a narrative of the things that have been completed among us,
just as they have been handed on to those of us who from the beginning saw the same and were ministers of the word,
so it seemed good to me also, having diligently followed everything from the beginning, to write to you, in an orderly manner, most excellent Theophilus,
4 ৪ তদর্থং প্রথমমারভ্য তানি সর্ৱ্ৱাণি জ্ঞাৎৱাহমপি অনুক্রমাৎ সর্ৱ্ৱৱৃত্তান্তান্ তুভ্যং লেখিতুং মতিমকার্ষম্|
so that you might know the truthfulness of those words by which you have been instructed.
5 ৫ যিহূদাদেশীযহেরোদ্নামকে রাজৎৱং কুর্ৱ্ৱতি অবীযযাজকস্য পর্য্যাযাধিকারী সিখরিযনামক একো যাজকো হারোণৱংশোদ্ভৱা ইলীশেৱাখ্যা
There was, in the days of Herod, king of Judea, a certain priest named Zechariah, of the section of Abijah, and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth.
6 ৬ তস্য জাযা দ্ৱাৱিমৌ নির্দোষৌ প্রভোঃ সর্ৱ্ৱাজ্ঞা ৱ্যৱস্থাশ্চ সংমন্য ঈশ্ৱরদৃষ্টৌ ধার্ম্মিকাৱাস্তাম্|
Now they were both just before God, progressing in all of the commandments and the justifications of the Lord without blame.
And they had no child, because Elizabeth was barren, and they both had become advanced in years.
Then it happened that, when he was exercising the priesthood before God, in the order of his section,
according to the custom of the priesthood, the lot fell so that he would offer incense, entering into the temple of the Lord.
And the entire multitude of the people was praying outside, at the hour of incense.
11 ১১ সতি সিখরিযো যস্যাং ৱেদ্যাং ধূপং জ্ৱালযতি তদ্দক্ষিণপার্শ্ৱে পরমেশ্ৱরস্য দূত এক উপস্থিতো দর্শনং দদৌ|
Then there appeared to him an Angel of the Lord, standing at the right of the altar of incense.
And upon seeing him, Zechariah was disturbed, and fear fell over him.
13 ১৩ তদা স দূতস্তং বভাষে হে সিখরিয মা ভৈস্তৱ প্রার্থনা গ্রাহ্যা জাতা তৱ ভার্য্যা ইলীশেৱা পুত্রং প্রসোষ্যতে তস্য নাম যোহন্ ইতি করিষ্যসি|
But the Angel said to him: “Do not be afraid, Zechariah, for your prayer has been heard, and your wife Elizabeth shall bear a son to you. And you shall call his name John.
And there will be joy and exultation for you, and many will rejoice in his nativity.
15 ১৫ যতো হেতোঃ স পরমেশ্ৱরস্য গোচরে মহান্ ভৱিষ্যতি তথা দ্রাক্ষারসং সুরাং ৱা কিমপি ন পাস্যতি, অপরং জন্মারভ্য পৱিত্রেণাত্মনা পরিপূর্ণঃ
For he will be great in the sight of the Lord, and he will not drink wine or strong drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother’s womb.
And he will convert many of the sons of Israel to the Lord their God.
17 ১৭ সন্তানান্ প্রতি পিতৃণাং মনাংসি ধর্ম্মজ্ঞানং প্রত্যনাজ্ঞাগ্রাহিণশ্চ পরাৱর্ত্তযিতুং, প্রভোঃ পরমেশ্ৱরস্য সেৱার্থম্ একাং সজ্জিতজাতিং ৱিধাতুঞ্চ স এলিযরূপাত্মশক্তিপ্রাপ্তস্তস্যাগ্রে গমিষ্যতি|
And he will go before him with the spirit and power of Elijah, so that he may turn the hearts of the fathers to the sons, and the incredulous to the prudence of the just, so as to prepare for the Lord a completed people.”
And Zechariah said to the Angel: “How may I know this? For I am elderly, and my wife is advanced in years.”
19 ১৯ ততো দূতঃ প্রত্যুৱাচ পশ্যেশ্ৱরস্য সাক্ষাদ্ৱর্ত্তী জিব্রাযেল্নামা দূতোহং ৎৱযা সহ কথাং গদিতুং তুভ্যমিমাং শুভৱার্ত্তাং দাতুঞ্চ প্রেষিতঃ|
And in response, the Angel said to him: “I am Gabriel, who stands before God, and I have been sent to speak to you, and to proclaim these things to you.
20 ২০ কিন্তু মদীযং ৱাক্যং কালে ফলিষ্যতি তৎ ৎৱযা ন প্রতীতম্ অতঃ কারণাদ্ যাৱদেৱ তানি ন সেৎস্যন্তি তাৱৎ ৎৱং ৱক্তুংমশক্তো মূকো ভৱ|
And behold, you will be silent and unable to speak, until the day on which these things shall be, because you have not believed my words, which will be fulfilled in their time.”
And the people were waiting for Zechariah. And they wondered why he was being delayed in the temple.
22 ২২ স বহিরাগতো যদা কিমপি ৱাক্যং ৱক্তুমশক্তঃ সঙ্কেতং কৃৎৱা নিঃশব্দস্তস্যৌ তদা মধ্যেমন্দিরং কস্যচিদ্ দর্শনং তেন প্রাপ্তম্ ইতি সর্ৱ্ৱে বুবুধিরে|
Then, when he came out, he was unable to speak to them. And they realized that he had seen a vision in the temple. And he was making signs to them, but he remained mute.
And it happened that, after the days of his office were completed, he went away to his house.
Then, after those days, his wife Elizabeth conceived, and she hid herself for five months, saying:
25 ২৫ পশ্চাৎ সা পঞ্চমাসান্ সংগোপ্যাকথযৎ লোকানাং সমক্ষং মমাপমানং খণ্ডযিতুং পরমেশ্ৱরো মযি দৃষ্টিং পাতযিৎৱা কর্ম্মেদৃশং কৃতৱান্|
“For the Lord did this for me, at the time when he decided to take away my reproach among men.”
Then, in the sixth month, the Angel Gabriel was sent by God, to a city of Galilee named Nazareth,
27 ২৭ দাযূদো ৱংশীযায যূষফ্নাম্নে পুরুষায যা মরিযম্নামকুমারী ৱাগ্দত্তাসীৎ তস্যাঃ সমীপং জিব্রাযেল্ দূত ঈশ্ৱরেণ প্রহিতঃ|
to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the name of the virgin was Mary.
28 ২৮ স গৎৱা জগাদ হে ঈশ্ৱরানুগৃহীতকন্যে তৱ শুভং ভূযাৎ প্রভুঃ পরমেশ্ৱরস্তৱ সহাযোস্তি নারীণাং মধ্যে ৎৱমেৱ ধন্যা|
And upon entering, the Angel said to her: “Hail, full of grace. The Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women.”
And when she had heard this, she was disturbed by his words, and she considered what kind of greeting this might be.
And the Angel said to her: “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found grace with God.
Behold, you shall conceive in your womb, and you shall bear a son, and you shall call his name: JESUS.
32 ৩২ স মহান্ ভৱিষ্যতি তথা সর্ৱ্ৱেভ্যঃ শ্রেষ্ঠস্য পুত্র ইতি খ্যাস্যতি; অপরং প্রভুঃ পরমেশ্ৱরস্তস্য পিতুর্দাযূদঃ সিংহাসনং তস্মৈ দাস্যতি;
He will be great, and he will be called the Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give him the throne of David his father.
And he will reign in the house of Jacob for eternity. And his kingdom shall have no end.” (aiōn g165)
Then Mary said to the Angel, “How shall this be done, since I do not know man?”
35 ৩৫ ততো দূতোঽকথযৎ পৱিত্র আত্মা ৎৱামাশ্রাযিষ্যতি তথা সর্ৱ্ৱশ্রেষ্ঠস্য শক্তিস্তৱোপরি ছাযাং করিষ্যতি ততো হেতোস্তৱ গর্ব্ভাদ্ যঃ পৱিত্রবালকো জনিষ্যতে স ঈশ্ৱরপুত্র ইতি খ্যাতিং প্রাপ্স্যতি|
And in response, the Angel said to her: “The Holy Spirit will pass over you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. And because of this also, the Holy One who will be born of you shall be called the Son of God.
36 ৩৬ অপরঞ্চ পশ্য তৱ জ্ঞাতিরিলীশেৱা যাং সর্ৱ্ৱে বন্ধ্যামৱদন্ ইদানীং সা ৱার্দ্ধক্যে সন্তানমেকং গর্ব্ভেঽধারযৎ তস্য ষষ্ঠমাসোভূৎ|
And behold, your cousin Elizabeth has herself also conceived a son, in her old age. And this is the sixth month for her who is called barren.
For no word will be impossible with God.”
38 ৩৮ তদা মরিযম্ জগাদ, পশ্য প্রভেরহং দাসী মহ্যং তৱ ৱাক্যানুসারেণ সর্ৱ্ৱমেতদ্ ঘটতাম্; অননতরং দূতস্তস্যাঃ সমীপাৎ প্রতস্থে|
Then Mary said: “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. Let it be done to me according to your word.” And the Angel departed from her.
And in those days, Mary, rising up, traveled quickly into the hill country, to a city of Judah.
And she entered into the house of Zechariah, and she greeted Elizabeth.
41 ৪১ ততো মরিযমঃ সম্বোধনৱাক্যে ইলীশেৱাযাঃ কর্ণযোঃ প্রৱিষ্টমাত্রে সতি তস্যা গর্ব্ভস্থবালকো ননর্ত্ত| তত ইলীশেৱা পৱিত্রেণাত্মনা পরিপূর্ণা সতী
And it happened that, as Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the infant leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.
And she cried out with a loud voice and said: “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb.
And how does this concern me, so that the mother of my Lord would come to me?
For behold, as the voice of your greeting came to my ears, the infant in my womb leaped for joy.
45 ৪৫ যা স্ত্রী ৱ্যশ্ৱসীৎ সা ধন্যা, যতো হেতোস্তাং প্রতি পরমেশ্ৱরোক্তং ৱাক্যং সর্ৱ্ৱং সিদ্ধং ভৱিষ্যতি|
And blessed are you who believed, for the things that were spoken to you by the Lord shall be accomplished.”
And Mary said: “My soul magnifies the Lord.
And my spirit leaps for joy in God my Savior.
48 ৪৮ অকরোৎ স প্রভু র্দুষ্টিং স্ৱদাস্যা দুর্গতিং প্রতি| পশ্যাদ্যারভ্য মাং ধন্যাং ৱক্ষ্যন্তি পুরুষাঃ সদা|
For he has looked with favor on the humility of his handmaid. For behold, from this time, all generations shall call me blessed.
For he who is great has done great things for me, and holy is his name.
And his mercy is from generation to generations for those who fear him.
He has accomplished powerful deeds with his arm. He has scattered the arrogant in the intentions of their heart.
He has deposed the powerful from their seat, and he has exalted the humble.
He has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent away empty.
54 ৫৪ ইব্রাহীমি চ তদ্ৱংশে যা দযাস্তি সদৈৱ তাং| স্মৃৎৱা পুরা পিতৃণাং নো যথা সাক্ষাৎ প্রতিশ্রুতং| (aiōn g165)
He has taken up his servant Israel, mindful of his mercy,
just as he spoke to our fathers: to Abraham and to his offspring forever.” (aiōn g165)
Then Mary stayed with her for about three months. And she returned to her own house.
Now the time for Elizabeth to give birth arrived, and she brought forth a son.
58 ৫৮ ততঃ পরমেশ্ৱরস্তস্যাং মহানুগ্রহং কৃতৱান্ এতৎ শ্রুৎৱা সমীপৱাসিনঃ কুটুম্বাশ্চাগত্য তযা সহ মুমুদিরে|
And her neighbors and relatives heard that the Lord had magnified his mercy with her, and so they congratulated her.
59 ৫৯ তথাষ্টমে দিনে তে বালকস্য ৎৱচং ছেত্তুম্ এত্য তস্য পিতৃনামানুরূপং তন্নাম সিখরিয ইতি কর্ত্তুমীষুঃ|
And it happened that, on the eighth day, they arrived to circumcise the boy, and they called him by his father’s name, Zechariah.
And in response, his mother said: “Not so. Instead, he shall be called John.”
And they said to her, “But there is no one among your relatives who is called by that name.”
Then they made signs to his father, as to what he wanted him to be called.
And requesting a writing tablet, he wrote, saying: “His name is John.” And they all wondered.
64 ৬৪ তৎক্ষণং সিখরিযস্য জিহ্ৱাজাড্যেঽপগতে স মুখং ৱ্যাদায স্পষ্টৱর্ণমুচ্চার্য্য ঈশ্ৱরস্য গুণানুৱাদং চকার|
Then, at once, his mouth was opened, and his tongue loosened, and he spoke, blessing God.
65 ৬৫ তস্মাচ্চতুর্দিক্স্থাঃ সমীপৱাসিলোকা ভীতা এৱমেতাঃ সর্ৱ্ৱাঃ কথা যিহূদাযাঃ পর্ৱ্ৱতমযপ্রদেশস্য সর্ৱ্ৱত্র প্রচারিতাঃ|
And fear fell upon all of their neighbors. And all these words were made known throughout all the hill country of Judea.
66 ৬৬ তস্মাৎ শ্রোতারো মনঃসু স্থাপযিৎৱা কথযাম্বভূৱুঃ কীদৃশোযং বালো ভৱিষ্যতি? অথ পরমেশ্ৱরস্তস্য সহাযোভূৎ|
And all those who heard it stored it up in their heart, saying: “What do you think this boy will be?” And indeed, the hand of the Lord was with him.
And his father Zechariah was filled with the Holy Spirit. And he prophesied, saying:
“Blessed is the Lord God of Israel. For he has visited and has wrought the redemption of his people.
And he has raised up a horn of salvation for us, in the house of David his servant,
just as he spoke by the mouth of his holy Prophets, who are from ages past: (aiōn g165)
salvation from our enemies, and from the hand of all those who hate us,
to accomplish mercy with our fathers, and to call to mind his holy testament,
the oath, which he swore to Abraham, our father, that he would grant to us,
so that, having been freed from the hand of our enemies, we may serve him without fear,
in holiness and in justice before him, throughout all our days.
76 ৭৬ অতো হে বালক ৎৱন্তু সর্ৱ্ৱেভ্যঃ শ্রেষ্ঠ এৱ যঃ| তস্যৈৱ ভাৱিৱাদীতি প্রৱিখ্যাতো ভৱিষ্যসি| অস্মাকং চরণান্ ক্ষেমে মার্গে চালযিতুং সদা| এৱং ধ্ৱান্তেঽর্থতো মৃত্যোশ্ছাযাযাং যে তু মানৱাঃ|
And you, child, shall be called the prophet of the Most High. For you will go before the face of the Lord: to prepare his ways,
to give knowledge of salvation to his people for the remission of their sins,
through the heart of the mercy of our God, by which, descending from on high, he has visited us,
to illuminate those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, and to direct our feet in the way of peace.”
80 ৮০ অথ বালকঃ শরীরেণ বুদ্ধ্যা চ ৱর্দ্ধিতুমারেভে; অপরঞ্চ স ইস্রাযেলো ৱংশীযলোকানাং সমীপে যাৱন্ন প্রকটীভূতস্তাস্তাৱৎ প্রান্তরে ন্যৱসৎ|
And the child grew, and he was strengthened in spirit. And he was in the wilderness, until the day of his manifestation to Israel.
