Jeremias 4
1 “Se você voltar, Israel”, diz Javé, “se você voltar para mim, e se você colocar suas abominações fora da minha vista; então você não será removido;
"If you will return, Israel," says the LORD, "if you will return to me, and if you will put away your abominations out of my sight; then you shall not be removed;
2 e você jurará, 'Como Javé vive', em verdade, em justiça e em retidão. As nações se abençoarão nele, e se gloriarão nele”.
and you shall swear, 'As the LORD lives,' in truth, in justice, and in righteousness. The nations shall bless themselves in him, and in him shall they glory."
3 Pois Yahweh diz aos homens de Judá e de Jerusalém: “Separem seu terreno alqueivado e não semeiem entre espinhos”.
For thus says the LORD to the men of Judah and to Jerusalem, "Break up your fallow ground, and do not sow among thorns.
4 Circuncidai-vos a Iavé e tirai os prepúcios de vosso coração, homens de Judá e habitantes de Jerusalém; para que minha ira não se apague como fogo, e não se queime para que ninguém possa apagá-la, por causa da maldade de vossos atos”.
Circumcise yourselves to the LORD, and take away the foreskins of your heart, you men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem; lest my wrath go forth like fire, and burn so that none can quench it, because of the evil of your doings.
5 Declarai em Judá, e publicai em Jerusalém; e dizei: 'Tocai a trombeta na terra! Gritai em voz alta e dizei: 'Ajuntai-vos! Vamos para as cidades fortificadas!'.
Declare in Judah, and publish in Jerusalem; and say, 'Blow the trumpet in the land.' Cry aloud and say, 'Assemble yourselves. Let us go into the fortified cities.'
6 Estabeleça um padrão para Sião. Fujam por segurança! Não esperem; pois eu trarei o mal do norte e uma grande destruição”.
Set up a standard toward Zion. Flee for safety. Do not wait; for I will bring evil from the north, and a great destruction."
7 Um leão subiu de sua mata, e um destruidor de nações. Ele está a caminho. Ele saiu de seu lugar, para tornar sua terra desolada, para que suas cidades sejam assoladas, sem habitantes.
A lion is gone up from his thicket, and a destroyer of nations; he is on his way, he is gone forth from his place, to make your land desolate, that your cities be laid waste, without inhabitant.
8 Por isso, veste-te de saco, lamenta e lamenta; pois a ira feroz de Javé não voltou atrás em relação a nós.
For this clothe yourself with sackcloth, lament and wail; for the fierce anger of the LORD hasn't turned back from us.
9 “Acontecerá naquele dia”, diz Javé, “que o coração do rei perecerá, junto com o coração dos príncipes”. Os sacerdotes ficarão espantados, e os profetas se admirarão”.
"It shall happen at that day," says the LORD, "that the heart of the king shall perish, and the heart of the officials; and the priests shall be astonished, and the prophets shall wonder."
10 Então eu disse: “Ah, Senhor Yahweh! Certamente você enganou muito este povo e Jerusalém, dizendo: 'Você terá paz;' enquanto a espada alcança o coração”.
Then I said, "Ah, Lord GOD. Surely you have greatly deceived this people and Jerusalem, saying, 'You shall have peace;' whereas the sword reaches to the heart."
11 Naquele momento será dito a este povo e a Jerusalém: “Um vento quente sopra das alturas nuas do deserto em direção à filha de meu povo, não para neve, nem para limpar.
At that time shall it be said to this people and to Jerusalem, "A hot wind from the bare heights in the wilderness toward the daughter of my people, not to winnow, nor to cleanse;
12 Um vento completo destes virá para mim. Agora eu também farei julgamentos contra eles”.
a full wind from these shall come for me. Now I will also utter judgments against them."
13 Eis que ele subirá como nuvens, e suas carruagens serão como o redemoinho. Seus cavalos são mais velozes que as águias. Ai de nós! Pois estamos arruinados.
Look, he shall come up as clouds, and his chariots shall be as the whirlwind: his horses are swifter than eagles. Woe to us. For we are ruined.
14 Jerusalém, lava teu coração da maldade, para que possas ser salvo. Por quanto tempo seus pensamentos malignos ficarão dentro de você?
Jerusalem, wash your heart from wickedness, that you may be saved. How long shall your evil thoughts lodge within you?
15 Por uma voz de Dan, e publica o mal das colinas de Efraim:
For a voice declares from Dan, and publishes evil from the hills of Ephraim:
16 “Diga às nações, eis que publicam contra Jerusalém: 'Vigias vêm de um país distante, e levantam sua voz contra as cidades de Judá'.
"Tell the nations; look, publish against Jerusalem, 'Besiegers come from a far country, and raise their voice against the cities of Judah.
17 Como guardas de um campo, eles estão contra ela por toda parte, porque ela tem sido rebelde contra mim”, diz Yahweh.
As keepers of a field, they are against her all around, because she has been rebellious against me,'" says the LORD.
18 “Sua maneira e seus feitos trouxeram estas coisas até você”. Esta é sua maldade, pois é amarga, pois chega ao seu coração”.
"Your way and your doings have brought these things to you. This is your wickedness; for it is bitter, for it reaches to your heart."
19 Minha angústia, minha angústia! Sinto dor no meu coração! Meu coração treme dentro de mim. Não consigo me calar, porque vocês ouviram, ó minha alma, o som da trombeta, o alarme da guerra.
My anguish, my anguish. I am pained at my very heart; my heart is disquieted in me; I can't hold my peace; because you have heard, O my soul, the sound of the trumpet, the alarm of war.
20 A destruição sobre a destruição é decretada, pois toda a terra é devastada. De repente, minhas tendas são destruídas e minhas cortinas desaparecem num instante.
Destruction on destruction is proclaimed; for the whole land is laid waste: suddenly are my tents destroyed, and my curtains in a moment.
21 Por quanto tempo vou ver o padrão e ouvir o som da trombeta?
How long shall I see the standard, and hear the sound of the trumpet?
22 “Pois meu povo é insensato. Eles não me conhecem. São crianças insensatas e não têm compreensão. Eles são hábeis em fazer o mal, mas não sabem fazer o bem”.
"For my people are foolish, they do not know me. They are foolish children, and they have no understanding. They are skillful in doing evil, but to do good they have no knowledge."
23 Eu vi a terra e, eis que era desperdício e vazio, e os céus, e eles não tinham luz.
I saw the earth, and, look, it was waste and void; and the heavens, and they had no light.
24 Eu vi as montanhas, e eis que elas tremeram, e todas as colinas se moveram para frente e para trás.
I saw the mountains, and look, they trembled, and all the hills moved back and forth.
25 Eu vi, e eis que não havia homem, e todas as aves do céu haviam fugido.
I saw, and look, there was no man, and all the birds of the sky had fled.
26 Eu vi, e eis que o campo fértil era um deserto, e todas as suas cidades foram destruídas pela presença de Javé, antes de sua raiva feroz.
I saw, and look, the fruitful field was a wilderness, and all its cities were broken down at the presence of the LORD; before his fierce anger they were destroyed.
27 Para Iavé diz: “Toda a terra será uma desolação; no entanto, eu não vou acabar por completo”.
For thus says the LORD, "The whole land shall be a desolation; yet I will not make a full end.
28 Para isso, a terra chorará, e os céus acima serão negros, porque eu o falei. Eu a planejei, e não me arrependi, nem voltarei atrás”.
For this the earth will mourn, and the heavens above be black; because I have spoken it, I have purposed it, and I have not relented, neither will I turn back from it."
29 Toda cidade foge para o barulho dos cavaleiros e arqueiros. Eles vão para a mata e sobem sobre as rochas. Todas as cidades são abandonadas e não um homem habita nelas.
Every city flees for the noise of the horsemen and archers; they go into caves, and they hide themselves in the thickets, and climb up on the rocks; every city is forsaken, and not a man dwells in it.
30 Você, quando for feito desolado, o que fará? Embora você se vista de escarlate, embora você se enfeites de ouro, embora você amplie seus olhos com maquiagem, você se faz belo em vão. Seus amantes o desprezam. Eles procuram sua vida.
You, when you are made desolate, what will you do? Though you clothe yourself with scarlet, though you dress yourselves with ornaments of gold, though you enlarge your eyes with paint, in vain do you make yourself beautiful; your lovers despise you, they seek your life.
31 Pois ouvi uma voz como a de uma mulher em trabalho de parto, a angústia como a de quem dá à luz seu primeiro filho, a voz da filha de Sião, que ofegante para respirar, que estende suas mãos, dizendo: “Ai de mim agora! Pois minha alma desmaia diante dos assassinos”.
For I have heard a voice as of a woman in travail, the anguish as of her who brings forth her first child, the voice of the daughter of Zion, who gasps for breath, who spreads her hands, saying, "Woe is me now. For my soul faints before the murderers."
