Atos 8
1 Então alguns homens que reverenciavam/adoravam a Deus enterraram o [corpo ]de Estêvão [num túmulo, ]e eles o prantearam em voz alta [e ]com grande emoção. [cristãos.] Naquele mesmo dia [as pessoas ]começaram a perseguir severamente os cristãos [que moravam na cidade ]de Jerusalém. Por isso, a maioria [dos cristãos ]se espalhou {fugiu} [por {para} outros lugares ]pelas [províncias ]de Judeia e Samaria. Os únicos [cristãos que permaneceram em Jerusalém ]foram os apóstolos.
Then some men who revered God buried Stephen’s body in a tomb, and they mourned greatly and loudly for him. On that same day [people] started severely persecuting the believers [who were living] in Jerusalem. So most [of the believers] fled [to other places] throughout Judea and Samaria [provinces]. The apostles were the only [believers who remained in Jerusalem].
3 Enquanto os homens matavam Estêvão, lá estava Saulo, concordando com a morte dele. Por isso Saulo [também ]passou a tentar destruir o grupo de cristãos. Ele entrava nas casas, uma por uma, arrastando homens e mulheres [que criam em Jesus ]e fazendo com que eles fossem encarcerados.
While the people were killing Stephen, Saul was there approving of their killing Stephen. So Saul [also] began trying to destroy the group of believers. He entered houses one by one, he dragged away men and women [who believed in Jesus], and then he [arranged for] them to be put in prison.
4 Os cristãos [que tinham fugido de Jerusalém ]se dirigiram aos diversos lugares, onde continuavam pregando a mensagem [sobre Jesus].
The believers who had left Jerusalem went to different places, where they continued preaching the message about Jesus.
5 [Um dos cristãos, chamado ]Filipe, desceu [de Jerusalém ]até uma cidade na [província de ]Samaria. Lá ele explicava [às pessoas que Jesus é ][MTY] o Messias.
[One of those believers whose name was] Philip went down [from Jerusalem] to a city in Samaria [province]. There he was telling [the people that Jesus is] [MTY] the Messiah.
6 Muitas pessoas daquele local ouviram Filipe [falar ]e viram os milagres que ele praticava. Por isso todas elas —prestaram muita atenção/escutaram cuidadosamente às / as— palavras proferidas por Filipe {que Filipe proferia}.
Many people there heard Philip [speak] and saw the miraculous things that he was doing. So they all (paid close attention to/listened carefully to) his words.
7 Por [exemplo], [quando Filipe mandava que saíssem ]os espíritos malignos que controlavam muitas pessoas, esses espíritos realmente saíam, gritando/bradando alto. Outrossim, muitas pessoas paralisadas e outras coxas e mancas foram curadas {ficaram sãs [porque Deus capacitava Filipe a curá-las]}.
For [example, when Philip commanded] evil spirits who controlled many people [that they should come out of them], they came out, while those spirits screamed. Also, many people who were paralyzed and [many others] who were lame were healed.
8 Por isso [muitas pessoas ]se regozijavam grandemente naquela cidade.
So [many people] [MTY] in that city greatly rejoiced.
9 Havia naquela cidade um homem chamado Simão. Ele praticava feitiçaria durante muito tempo, maravilhando / surpreendendo [com essas práticas ]os habitantes [da província ]da Samaria. Ele alegava continuamente que era alguém muito grande/importante.
There was a man in that city whose name was Simon. He had been practicing sorcery for a long time, and he had been amazing the people in Samaria [province by doing that]. He continually claimed that he was a great/important person.
10 Todos os habitantes daquele local, entre eles pessoas comuns e importante, prestavam atenção a ele. [Várias das pessoas ]diziam: “Esse homem opera de uma maneira extrememante poderosa, [porque ]Deus o fez uma [pessoa ]muito grande”.
All the people there, both ordinary and important people, listened to him. [Various ones of] them were saying, “This man works in extremely powerful ways [because] God has caused him to be a great [person].”
11 Essas pessoas continuavam escutando-o com muita atenção, pois durante muito tempo ele as tinha maravilhado pelas magias praticadas.
They continued to listen to him carefully, because for a long time he had astonished them by practicing sorcery.
12 Mas elas passaram a crer na [mensagem ]de Filipe quando ele lhes pregava sobre [como ]Deus deseja governar [MET] [a vida das pessoas que creem nele, ]e sobre o fato de ser Jesus o Messias [MTY]. Então tanto os homens quanto as mulheres [que criam em Jesus ]foram batizados {[Filipe ]batizava tanto os homens como as mulheres [que criam em Jesus]}.
But then they believed Philip’s [message] when he preached to them about [how] God desires to rule [MET] [the lives of people who believe in him], and about Jesus being the Messiah [MTY]. Both the men and the women who believed in Jesus were baptized. {[Philip] was baptizing both the men and the women [who had come to believe in Jesus]}.
13 Simão mesmo dava fé/acreditava à/na [mensagem de Filipe ]e, após ser batizado {depois que [Filipe ]o batizou}, ele passou a acompanhar constantemente Filipe. Simão se maravilhava continuamente ao ver [Filipe ]praticar muitos tipos de milagres.
Simon himself believed [Philip’s message] and, after he was baptized {after [Philip] baptized him}, he began to constantly accompany Philip. Simon was continually amazed because he often saw [Philip] doing many kinds of miraculous things.
14 Quando os apóstolos em Jerusalém ouviram [as pessoas relatarem ]que [muitas pessoas ][PRS] [por todo o distrito de ]Samaria acreditavam na mensagem de Deus [sobre Jesus, ]mandaram-lhes Pedro e João.
When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that [many people] [PRS] [throughout] Samaria [district] had believed the message from God [about Jesus], they sent Peter and John there.
15 Ao chegarem Pedro e João na Samaria, oraram em favor daqueles [novos cristãos ]para que viesse sobre eles [o poder ]do Espírito Santo.
When Peter and John arrived in Samaria, they prayed for those [new believers] in order that the Holy Spirit’s [power] would come to them.
16 [Pedro e João se deram conta de que ]o Espírito Santo ainda não havia começado a controlar/empossar nenhum deles. Eles tinham sido batizados {[Filipe ]os tinha batizado} porque [tinham acreditado ]no [MTY] Senhor Jesus, [mas eles nada sabiam sobre o Espírito Santo. ]
[Peter and John realized that] the Holy Spirit had not yet begun to empower any of them. They had been baptized {[Philip] had baptized them} [because they had believed] in [MTY] the Lord Jesus, [but they did not know about the Holy Spirit].
17 Então Pedro e João impuseram as mãos [na cabeça ]de cada pessoa e elas receberam [o poder do ][MTY] Espírito Santo.
[Then Peter and John] placed their hands on [the heads of] each person, and they received the [power of] [MTY] the Holy Spirit.
18 Simão viu/observou [determinadas coisas que o convenceram de ]que o [poder ]do Espírito tinha sido dado {que [Deus ]tinha dado o [poder ]do Espírito} [às pessoas ]como resultado da imposição das mãos dos apóstolos sobre elas. Portanto, ele ofereceu dinheiro aos apóstolos,
Simon saw [things that convinced him] that [God] had given the Spirit’s [power to people] as a result of the apostles placing their hands on them. So he offered [to give] money to the apostles,
19 dizendo: “Façam com que eu também possa fazer [aquilo que vocês estão fazendo], para que todos aqueles sobre quem ponho as mãos possam receber o [poder ]do Espírito Santo”.
saying, “Enable me also to do what [you are doing], so that everyone on whom I place/put my hands may receive the Holy Spirit’s [power].”
20 Mas Pedro lhe disse: “Que vão para o inferno você e seu dinheiro, pois você pensou [muito erradamente ]que pudesse comprar [de nós ]aquilo que [somente ]Deus dá [às pessoas]! (questioned)
But Peter said to him, “May you [(sg)] and your money go to hell, because you [mistakenly] think that you can buy [from us] what God [alone] gives to [people] (questioned)
21 Deus não autorizou você a [acompanhar-nos ]e colaborar conosco neste ministério [que nós ](excl) [estamos desempenhando], pois Ele sabe que você não está raciocinando corretamente! (OU, pois Ele sabe que você está raciocinando de uma forma totalmente errada.)
[God] has not authorized you to have any part of this ministry of giving [the Holy Spirit’s power], because he knows that you are not thinking rightly! (OR, because he knows that you are thinking completely wrongly.)
22 Portanto, deixe de agir [assim], de uma forma [tão maldosa], e peça urgentemente ao Senhor que, se Ele quiser, você possa ser perdoado {possa perdoar você} [por aquilo que ]você pensou/ planejou [maldosamente fazer]!
So stop thinking wickedly [like] that, and plead that the Lord, if he is willing, will forgive you [for what] you [wickedly] thought/planned [to do]
23 [Abandone seus maus caminhos, ]pois entendo que você tem muita inveja de [nós ]e [que você é como um ]escravo do [contínuo desejo de praticar o mal!]”
[Turn away from your evil ways], because I perceive that you [(sg)] are extremely envious of [us], and you [are] a slave of your [continual desire to do evil! God will certainly punish you severely]!”
24 Então Simão respondeu: “Peça ao Senhor [Deus ]que [Ele ]não me faça as coisas que você mencionou”.
Then Simon answered, “Pray to the Lord [God] that [he] will not do to me what you just said!”
25 Após eles explicarem às [pessoas ali reunidas ]o que sabiam pessoalmente [sobre Jesus, ]declarando-lhes a mensagem sobre o Senhor [Jesus], Pedro e João voltaram a Jerusalém. [Pelo caminho ]eles pregaram a boa mensagem [sobre Jesus aos habitantes ]de muitas aldeias na [província ]de Samaria.
After [Peter and John] told [people there] what they knew personally [about the] Lord [Jesus] and declared to them the message about Jesus, they both returned to Jerusalem. [Along the way] they preached the good message [about Jesus to people] in many villages in Samaria [province].
26 [Certo dia ]um anjo, que o Senhor [Deus ]tinha mandado, deu a seguinte ordem a Filipe: “Apronte-se e vá para o sul pela estrada que vai de Jerusalém até Gaza”. [Essa ]estrada percorre uma região de poucos habitantes.
[One day] an angel whom the Lord [God] had sent commanded Philip, “Get ready and go south along the road that extends from Jerusalem to Gaza.” [That was] a road in a desert area.
27 Por isso Filipe se aprontou e viajou [por aquela estrada. ]De repente/Inesperadamente ele deparou-se com um homem do [país de ]Etiópia. Ele era um importante oficial que cuidava das finanças da rainha [que governava ]a Etiópia. [Na língua dele as pessoas chamava essa rainha de ]Candace. Esse indivíduo tinha ido a Jerusalém adorar [a Deus ]
So Philip got ready and went [along that road]. Suddenly he met a man from Ethiopia. He was an important official who took care of all the funds for the queen [of] Ethiopia. [In his language people called their queen] Candace. This man had gone to Jerusalem to worship [God],
28 e estava voltando [para casa], sentado na sua carruagem. [Enquanto viajava, ]ele lia [em voz alta trechos daquilo ]que o profeta Isaías [havia escrito ][MTY] [muitos anos antes.]
and he was returning [home] and was seated [riding] in his chariot. [As he was riding], he was reading [out loud from] what the prophet Isaiah [had written] [MTY] [long ago].
29 O Espírito [de Deus ]disse a Filipe: “Aproxime-se daquela carruagem, e continue andando perto [do homem que está viajando n]ela!”
[God’s] Spirit told Philip, “Go near to that chariot and keep walking close to [the man who is riding in] it!”
30 Por isso, Filipe correu [em direção à carruagem e continuou correndo ao lado dela. ]Então ele ouviu o oficial ler o que o profeta Isaías [tinha escrito ]e perguntou ao homem: “O senhor entende [o significado ]das palavras que está lendo”?
So Philip ran [to the chariot and kept running close to it]. Then he heard the official reading what the prophet Isaiah [had written]. He asked the man, “Do you [(sg)] understand what you are reading?”
31 Ele respondeu a Filipe, “[Não]! —Não posso/Como posso— [RHQ] [entendê-las ]se [não há ]quem as explique para mim”!? Então o oficial convidou Filipe a subir [e ]sentar-se ao lado dele [na carruagem durante a viagem. ](OU, Então o homem disse a Filipe: “Por favor, suba [e ]sente-se ao meu lado”.) [Portanto Filipe fez exatamente isso. ]
He answered Philip, “[No!] (I cannot possibly [understand it] if [there is] no one to explain it to me!/How can I [understand it] if [there is] no one to explain it to me?) [RHQ]” Acts 8:31b-35 Then the man said to Philip, “Please come up [and] sit beside me.” [So Philip did that].
32 O trecho das Escrituras que o oficial estava lendo rezava assim / era este: Ele será levado para a morte {[As pessoas ]vão levá-lo embora para matá-lo} como [se leva ]uma ovelha [para o matadouro]; e como um cordeiro fica calado/quieto quando cortam a sua lã, [de maneira semelhante, ]ele não vai protestar/queixar-se [MTY] [quando as pessoas lhe causarem sofrimento.]
The part of the Scriptures that the official was reading was this: He will [be silent when] they lead him away to kill him [like when] a sheep [is led away to be killed]. As a young sheep is silent when its wool is being cut off {someone cuts off its wool}, [similarly] he will not protest [MTY] [when people cause him to suffer].
33 Quando [as pessoas ]o insultarem, elas não deixarão / permitirão [que os governantes ]lhe concedam um processo jurídico justo/reto. Ninguém poderá falar dos descendentes dele, pois ele será morto {[as pessoas ]vão matá-lo} [antes de ele poder gerar descendentes ]aqui na terra.
When he will be humiliated by being accused falsely {people will humiliate him [by accusing him falsely]}, [the rulers] (will not consider him innocent/will consider him guilty). No one will possibly be able to tell about his descendants, because he will be killed {people will kill him} without him having [any descendants] on the earth.
34 O oficial perguntou a Filipe [sobre essas palavras que estava lendo: ]“Diga-me, de quem escreve o profeta? [Escreve ]de si mesmo, ou de outra pessoa?”
The official asked Philip [about these words that he was reading], “Tell me, who was the prophet writing about? [Was he writing] about himself or about someone else?”
35 Então Filipe lhe respondeu [MTY] e começou [a explicar ]aquele trecho bíblico. Ele lhe explicou a boa mensagem sobre [MTY] Jesus. [Por isso o oficial entendeu e passou a crer em Jesus.]
So Philip began [to explain] that Scripture passage. He told him the good message about [MTY] Jesus. [So the official understood and believed in Jesus].
36 Enquanto eles dois viajavam pela estrada, chegaram [a um lugar onde havia ]água [perto do caminho. ]Então o oficial disse [a Filipe: ]“Olhe, [aqui há um lugar com ]água! Não sei de nada/O senhor sabe de algo— [RHQ] que possa impedir-me de ser batizado {o senhor de me batizar}? b Creio que Jesus é o Messias [e também que ]Ele é o Filho de Deus”.
While they were traveling along the road, they came to [a place where there was a pond of] water [near the road]. Then the official said [to Philip], “Look, [there is a pond of] water! (I would like you to baptize me, because I do not know of anything that would prevent me from being baptized {prevent [you] from baptizing me.}/Do you know of anything that would prevent me from being baptized {prevent [you] from baptizing me}?) [RHQ]”
38 Por isso o oficial mandou [o cocheiro ]parar a carruagem. Então os dois–Filipe e o oficial–desceram para [a ]água e [Filipe ]o batizou.
So the official told [the driver] to stop the chariot. Then both Philip and the official went down into the [pond of] water, and [Philip] baptized him.
39 Quando subiram da água, de repente/milagrosamente o Espírito de Deus levou Filipe [embora para outro lugar. ]O oficial nunca mais viu Filipe. Embora nunca visse o Filipe novamente, o oficial continuou sua viagem pela estrada e vivia feliz por Deus o salvar.
When they came up out of the water, suddenly God’s Spirit took Philip away. The official never saw Philip again. But [although he never saw Philip again], the official continued going along the road, very happy [that God had saved him].
40 Filipe se deu conta logo de [que o Espírito o tinha levado milagrosamente até a cidade de ]Azoto. Ao viajar [por aquela região], ele continuava proclamando a mensagem [sobre Jesus ]em todas as vilas e cidades [entre Azoto e Cesareia. Philip then realized [that the Spirit had miraculously taken him to] Azotus [town]. While he traveled around [in that region], he continued proclaiming the message [about Jesus] in all the towns [between Azotus and Caesarea. And he was still proclaiming] it when he finally arrived in Caesarea [city].
