1 Coríntios 13
1 Se pudéssemos falar [todas ]as diversas línguas [MTY] que os seres humanos [falam], e até mesmo a [língua ]que anjos [falam], e não amássemos [nosso próximo, o fato de falarmos aquelas línguas ]seria [tão inútil quanto bater ]num gongo de bronze ou tocar um par de pratos.
Supposing we could speak [all] the various languages [MTY] that people [in the world speak] and even speak [the language] that angels [speak]. If we did not love [others, speaking those languages] would be [as useless as beating] a brass gong or clanging cymbals [together].
2 Se tivéssemos a habilidade de comunicar mensagens vindas diretamente de Deus, e se pudéssemos entender os planos que Deus ainda não revelou aos outros, e se pudéssemos saber tudo [sobre tudo, ]e se tivéssemos tamanha fé em Deus que pudéssemos [realizar coisas impossíveis—como ]fazer as montanhas mudarem de lugar—se nós não amássemos o [próximo, Deus iria considerar-]nos imprestáveis.
Supposing we had the ability to speak messages that come directly from God, and we could understand the plans that he has not yet revealed [to others], and we could know everything [about everything], and we believed in God so strongly that we could [do impossible things like] causing mountains to move. If we did not love [others, God would consider all that] to be worthless.
3 Se distribuíssemos todos os nossos bens aos pobres, e deixássemos que os outros nos matassem para nos orgulharmos de [ter sacrificado nosso ]próprio corpo, se não amássemos [o próximo], não iríamos receber nenhum galardão [de Deus.]
And supposing we would give everything that we own to poor people, and would let others kill us in order that we could boast about [sacrificing our] own bodies. If we did not love [others], we would not get any reward [from God].
4 Aqueles que [PRS] realmente amam [o seu próximo ]tratam-no de uma forma paciente e bondosa. Aqueles que [PRS] realmente amam [o seu próximo ]não têm ciúmes dele, não se vangloriam [dos seus próprios feitos, ]e não são orgulhosos.
Those who [PRS] truly love [others] act patiently and kindly toward them. Those who [PRS] truly love [others] are not jealous of them, they do not boast [about what they themselves have done], and are not proud.
5 Aqueles que [PRS] realmente amam [o seu próximo ]não o tratam de uma forma indigna. Não agem de maneira egoísta/pensam somente em si mesmo e em seus próprios desejos. Eles não se zangam facilmente. Não continuam lembrando-se das coisas ruins [que outras pessoas lhes fizeram. ]
Those who [PRS] truly love [others] do not act in disgraceful/disrespectful ways towards them. They do not (act selfishly/think only of themselves and what they want). They do not quickly become angry. They do not keep remembering the bad things [that others have done to them].
6 Aqueles que [PRS] realmente amam [o seu próximo ]não se alegram quando [as pessoas fazem ]coisas malvadas, mas se alegram quando [as pessoas procedem ]com retidão.
Those who [PRS] truly love [others] do not rejoice when [people do] evil things, but they do rejoice when [people act] righteously.
7 Aqueles que realmente amam [o seu próximo ]suportam, com paciência, [as falhas do mesmo. ]Não pressupõem imediatamente [que os outros tenham feito algo iníquo.] Esperam confiantes [que os outros vão agir com retidão. ]Suportam com paciência [suas próprias aflições.]
Those who truly love [others] patiently put up [the faults of others]. They do not quickly assume [that others have done something bad]. They confidently expect [that others will act righteously]. They patiently endure [all their own troubles].
8 Nunca devemos [PRS] deixar que algo nos impeça de amar [o nosso próximo. ]No que diz respeito à habilidade de proclamar mensagens que vêm diretamente de Deus, ela vai ter fim algum dia. No que diz respeito à habilidade de falar línguas [MTY] [que nunca aprendemos, ]ela [também ]vai ser anulada {vai ter fim} algum dia. E quanto à habilidade de saber as coisas que Deus nos revela, ela vai ter fim algum dia, [por não ser mais necessária].
We should never [PRS] let anything stop us from continuing to love [others]. As for the ability to speak messages that come directly from God, some day that will come to an end. As for the ability to speak languages [MTY] [that we have not learned], that will [also] come to an end some day. And as for the ability to know things that God reveals to us, that will come to an end some day [because it will not be necessary any more].
9 Deus não nos revela tudo, e não podemos saber tudo que Deus sabe.
God does not reveal everything to us, and we cannot know everything that he knows.
10 Mas quando tudo estiver perfeito, [após a volta de Cristo, ]as coisas imperfeitas, [tais como as habilidades que o Espírito de Deus nos dá, ]serão anuladas {vão ter fim}.
But when everything is perfect [after Christ returns], things which are not perfect [now], [such as the abilities which God’s Spirit gives us], will (disappear/come to an end).
11 Quando éramos crianças, falávamos como crianças, pensávamos como crianças, raciocinávamos como crianças. Mas ao nos tornarmos adultos, abandonamos os jeitos infantis [MET]. [Semelhantemente, vocês devem abandonar seu pensamento infantil sobre as habilidades que o Espírito lhes concedeu. ]
When we were children, we talked like children talk, we thought like children think, we reasoned like children reason. But when we grew up, we got rid of our childish ways [MET]. [Similarly], [you need to get rid of your childish thinking about the abilities that the Spirit has given you].
12 Agora não entendemos tudo perfeitamente. É como [MET] contemplar algo indiretamente, vendo-o através do espelho. Quando chegarmos no céu [MTY], vamos [entender tudo nitidamente. Será como ]conversar com alguém cara a cara. Agora nós sabemos apenas uma parte de tudo que Deus quer que saibamos. Então vamos entender tudo claramente, assim como somos conhecidos [por Deus ]{[como Deus ]nos conhece}, perfeitamente.
In this life we do not understand everything fully. It is like [MET] looking at something indirectly by seeing it in a mirror. But [when we get to heaven] [MTY], we will [understand everything clearly. It will be like] talking to someone face-to-face. Now we know only part [of everything that God wants us to know]. Then we will know everything completely, just like [God] knows us completely.
13 Portanto, há três coisas [que devemos ]continuar [a fazer: ]confiar [em Deus, ]esperar confiantes [para receber aquilo que Ele vai nos dar, ]e amar [o próximo. ]Mas a maior dessas três coisas é amarmos [o nosso próximo.]
So now there are three things [that we must] continue [to do]: To trust [in God], to confidently expect [to receive what he will give us], and to love [others]. But the greatest of those three things is loving [others].
