Mateus 23
1 Então Jesus falou às multidões e aos seus discípulos,
Then Jesus spoke to the multitudes and to his disciples, saying,
2 dizendo: Os escribas e os fariseus se sentam sobre o assento de Moisés.
The scholars and the Pharisees sit on Moses' seat.
3 Portanto, tudo o que eles vos disserem, fazei e guardai. Mas não façais segundo as suas obras, porque eles dizem e não fazem.
All things therefore, however many they may tell you to observe, observe and do, but do not ye according to their works, for they say, and do not.
4 Eles amarram cargas pesadas, e as põem sobre os ombros das pessoas; porém eles mesmos nem sequer com o seu dedo as querem mover.
For they bind heavy burdens and difficult to bear, and lay them on men's shoulders, but they do not want to move them with their finger.
5 E fazem todas as suas obras a fim de serem vistos pelas pessoas: por isso alargam seus filactérios, ) e fazem compridas as franjas.
But all their works they do in order to be seen by men. And they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the hems of their garments.
6 Eles amam os primeiros assentos nas ceias, as primeiras cadeiras nas sinagogas,
And they love the chief place at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues,
7 as saudações nas praças, e serem chamados: “Rabi” pelas pessoas.
and the greetings in the marketplaces, and to be designated by men, Rabbi, Rabbi.
8 Mas vós, não sejais chamados Rabi, porque o vosso Mestre é um: e todos vós sois irmãos.
But be ye not designated Rabbi, for one is your leader, the Christ, and ye are all brothers.
9 E não chameis a ninguém na terra vosso pai; porque o vosso Pai é um: aquele que está nos céus.
And do not designate a father of you upon the earth, for one is your Father, he in the heavens.
10 Nem sejais chamados mestres; porque o vosso mestre é um: o Cristo.
And be ye not designated leaders, for one is your leader, the Christ.
11 Porém o maior de vós será vosso servo.
But the greater of you will be your helper.
12 E o que a si mesmo se exaltar será humilhado; e o que a si mesmo se humilhar será exaltado.
And he who will exalt himself will be made low, and he who will make himself low will be exalted.
13 Mas ai de vós, escribas e fariseus, hipócritas! Porque fechais o Reino dos céus em frente das pessoas; pois nem vós entrais, nem permitis a entrada do que estão para entrar.
Woe to you, scholars and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because ye close up the kingdom of the heavens ahead of men. For ye enter not in, nor do ye allow those who are entering to enter in.
But woe to you, scholars and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because ye devour widows' houses, and praying long in pretence. Because of this ye will receive greater condemnation.
15 Ai de vós, escribas e fariseus, hipócritas! Porque rodeais o mar e a terra para fazerdes um prosélito; e quando é feito, vós o tornais filho do inferno duas vezes mais que a vós. (Geenna g1067)
Woe to you, scholars and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because ye encompass the sea and the land to make one proselyte, and when it happens, ye make him twice more a son of hell than yourselves. (Geenna g1067)
16 Ai de vós, guias cegos, que dizeis: “Qualquer um que jurar pelo templo, nada é; mas qualquer um que jurar pelo ouro do templo, devedor é”.
Woe to you, ye blind guides, who say, Whoever may swear by the temple, it is nothing, but whoever may swear by the gold of the temple, he is obligated.
17 Tolos e cegos! Pois qual é maior: o ouro, ou o templo que santificou o ouro?
Ye foolish and blind men, for which is greater, the gold, or the temple that makes the gold sacred?
18 Também [dizeis]: “Qualquer um que jurar pelo altar, nada é; mas quem jurar pela oferta que [está] sobre ele, devedor é”.
And, Whoever may swear by the altar, it is nothing, but whoever may swear by the gift upon it, he is obligated.
19 Cegos! Pois qual é maior: a oferta, ou o altar que santifica a oferta?
Ye foolish and blind men, for which is greater, the gift, or the altar that makes the gift sacred?
20 Portanto, quem jurar pelo altar, jura por ele, e por tudo o que está sobre ele.
He therefore who swears by the altar, swears by it, and by all things on it.
21 E quem jurar pelo templo, jura por ele, e por aquele que nele habita.
And he who swears by the temple, swears by it, and by him who dwells in it.
22 E quem jurar pelo Céu, jura pelo trono de Deus, e por aquele que sobre ele está sentado.
And he who swears by heaven, swears by the throne of God, and by him who sits upon it.
23 Ai de vós, escribas e fariseus, hipócritas! Porque dais o dízimo da hortelã, do endro, e do cominho, e desprezais o que é mais importante da Lei: a justiça, a misericórdia, e a fidelidade; estas coisas devem ser feitas, sem se desprezar as outras.
Woe to you, scholars and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because ye tithe the mint and the anise and the cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law-justice and mercy and faith. These things must be done, and not neglecting those things.
24 Guias cegos, que coais um mosquito, e engolis um camelo!
Ye blind guides, who strain out the gnat, and swallow the camel.
25 Ai de vós, escribas e fariseus, hipócritas! Porque limpais o exterior do copo ou do prato, mas por dentro estão cheios de extorsão e cobiça.
Woe to you, scholars and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because ye cleanse the outside of the cup and of the platter, but inside they are full of plunder and unrighteousness.
26 Fariseu cego! Limpa primeiro o interior do copo, para que também o exterior deles fique limpo.
Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first the inside of the cup and of the platter, so that the outside of them may also become clean.
27 Ai de vós, escribas e fariseus, hipócritas! Porque sois semelhantes aos sepulcros caiados, que por fora realmente parecem belos, mas por dentro estão cheios de ossos de cadáveres, e de toda imundícia.
Woe to you, scholars and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because ye are like whitewashed tombs, which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness.
28 Assim também vós, por fora, realmente pareceis justos às pessoas, mas por dentro estais cheios de hipocrisia e de injustiça.
In this way also, ye indeed outwardly appear righteous to men, but inside ye are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.
29 Ai de vós, escribas e fariseus, hipócritas! Porque edificais os sepulcros dos profetas, adornais os monumentos dos justos,
Woe to you, scholars and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because ye build the tombs of the prophets, and adorn the sepulchers of the righteous,
30 e dizeis: “Se estivéssemos nos dias dos nossos pais, nunca teríamos sido cúmplices deles quando derramaram o sangue dos profetas”.
and say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.
31 Assim vós mesmos dais testemunho de que sois filhos dos que mataram os profetas.
So then ye testify to yourselves that ye are sons of those who murdered the prophets.
32 Completai, pois, a medida de vossos pais.
Then fill ye up the measure of your fathers.
Ye serpents, ye offspring of vipers, how will ye escape from the damnation of hell? (Geenna g1067)
34 Por isso, eis que eu vos envio profetas, sábios, e escribas; a uns deles matareis e crucificareis, e a [outros] deles açoitareis em vossas sinagogas, e perseguireis de cidade em cidade;
Because of this, behold, I send to you prophets, and wise men, and scholars. And some of them ye will kill and crucify, and some of them ye will scourge in your synagogues, and will persecute from city to city,
35 para que venha sobre vós todo o sangue justo que foi derramado sobre a terra, desde o sangue do justo Abel, até o sangue de Zacarias, filho de Baraquias, ao qual matastes entre o templo e o altar.
so that upon you may come all the righteous blood shed on the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zachariah son of Barachiah, whom ye murdered between the sanctuary and the altar.
36 Em verdade vos digo que tudo isto virá sobre esta geração.
Truly I say to you, that all these things will come upon this generation.
37 Jerusalém, Jerusalém, que matas os profetas, e apedrejas os que te são enviados! Quantas vezes eu quis ajuntar os teus filhos, como a galinha ajunta os seus pintos debaixo das asas; porém não quisestes!
O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets, and stones those who have been sent to her. How often I wanted to gathered thy children together the way a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and ye would not.
38 Eis que vossa casa vos será deixada.
Behold, your house is left to you desolate.
39 Pois eu vos digo que a partir de agora não me vereis, até que digais: “Bendito aquele que vem no nome do Senhor”.
For I say to you, ye will, no, not see me henceforth, until ye say, Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
