Lucas 22
1 Estava perto a festa dos pães sem fermento, chamada de páscoa.
The Feast of the Unleavened Bread, known as the Passover, was near.
2 E os chefes dos sacerdotes, e os escribas procuravam um meio de o matar, pois eles temiam ao povo.
The Chief Priest and the Teachers of the Law were looking for an opportunity of destroying Jesus, for they were afraid of the people.
3 E Satanás entrou no Judas que era chamado Iscariotes, que era um dos doze.
Now Satan took possession of Judas, who was known as Iscariot, and who belonged to the Twelve;
4 E foi, e falou com os chefes dos sacerdotes e os oficiais, sobre como [o] entregaria para eles.
and he went and discussed with the Chief Priests and Officers in charge at the Temple the best way of betraying Jesus to them.
5 E [estes] se alegraram, e concordaram em lhe dar dinheiro.
They were glad of this, and agreed to pay him.
6 E [lhes] prometeu, e buscava oportunidade para o entregar quando não houvesse uma multidão.
So Judas assented, and looked for an opportunity to betray Jesus to them, in the absence of a crowd.
7 E veio o dia dos [pães] sem fermento, em que se devia fazer o sacrifício da páscoa.
When the day of the Festival of the Unleavened Bread came, on which the Passover lambs had to be killed,
8 E [Jesus] mandou a Pedro, e a João, dizendo: Ide, preparai-nos a páscoa, para que [a] comamos.
Jesus sent forward Peter and John, saying to them: “Go and make preparations for our eating the Passover.”
9 E eles lhe disseram: Onde queres que [a] preparemos?
“Where do you wish us to make preparations?” they asked.
10 E ele lhes disse: Eis que, quando entrardes na cidade, um homem com um vaso de água vos encontrará; segui-o até a casa onde ele entrar.
“Listen,” he answered, “when you have got into the city, a man carrying a pitcher of water will meet you; follow him into whatever house he enters;
11 E direis ao dono da casa: O Mestre te diz: Onde está o salão onde comerei a páscoa com meus discípulos?
and you shall say to the owner of the house ‘The Teacher says to you — Where is the room where I am to eat the Passover with my disciples?’
12 Então ele vos mostrará um grande salão já arrumado; preparai-a ali.
The man will show you a large upstairs room, set out; there make preparations.”
13 E indo eles, acharam como lhes tinha dito; e prepararam a páscoa.
So Peter and John went on, and found everything just as Jesus had told them, and they prepared the Passover.
14 E vinda a hora, sentou-se [à mesa], e com ele os doze apóstolos.
When the time came, Jesus took his place at table, and the Apostles with him.
15 E disse-lhes: Muito desejei comer convosco esta páscoa, antes que eu sofra.
“I have most earnestly wished,” he said, “to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.
16 Porque eu vos digo, que dela não mais comerei, até que [isto] se cumpra no Reino de Deus.
For I tell you that I shall not eat it again, until it has had its fulfilment in the Kingdom of God.”
17 E tomando o copo, e tendo agradecido [a Deus], disse: Tomai-o, e reparti [-o] entre vós.
Then, on receiving a cup, after saying the thanksgiving, he said:
18 Porque vos digo, que do fruto da videira eu não beberei, até que o Reino de Deus venha.
“Take this and share it among you. For I tell you that I shall not, after to-day, drink of the juice of the grape, till the Kingdom of God has come.”
19 E tomando o pão, e tendo agradecido [a Deus], partiu-o, e o deu a eles, dizendo: Isto é o meu corpo, que é dado por vós; fazei isto em memória de mim.
Then Jesus took some bread, and, after saying the thanksgiving, broke it and gave to them, with the words: “This is my body, [which is now to be given on your behalf. Do this in memory of me.”]
20 De modo semelhante também com o copo, depois da ceia, disse: Este copo [é] o Novo Testamento em meu sangue, que é derramado por vós.
[And in the same way with the cup, after supper, saying: “This cup is the New Covenant made by my blood which is being poured out on your behalf. ]
21 Porém eis que a mão do que me trai [está] comigo à mesa.
Yet see! the hand of the man that is betraying me is beside me upon the table!
22 E realmente o Filho do homem vai conforme o que está determinado; mas ai daquele homem por quem é traído!
True, the Son of Man is passing, by the way ordained for him, yet alas for that man by whom he is being betrayed!”
23 E começaram a perguntar entre si, qual deles seria o que faria isto.
Then they began questioning one another which of them it could be that was going to do this.
24 E houve também uma briga entre eles, sobre qual deles era considerado o maior.
And a dispute arose among them as to which of them was to be regarded as the greatest.
25 E [Jesus] lhes disse: Os reis dos gentios os dominam, e os que exercem autoridade sobre eles são chamados de benfeitores;
Jesus, however, said: “The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their oppressors are styled ‘Benefactors.’
26 Mas não [seja] assim entre vós; antes o maior de vós seja como o menor; e o que lidera, como o que serve.
But with you it must not be so. No, let the greatest among you become like the youngest, and him who leads like him who serves.
27 Porque qual é maior? O que se senta [à mesa], ou o que serve? Por acaso não é o que se senta [à mesa]? Porém eu estou entre vós como aquele que serve.
Which is the greater — the master at the table or his servant? Is not it the master at the table? Yet I myself am among you as one who serves.
28 E vós sois os que tendes permanecido comigo em minhas tentações.
You are the men who have stood by me in my trials;
29 E eu vos determino um Reino, assim como meu pai o determinou a mim.
and, just as my Father has assigned me a Kingdom, I assign you places,
30 Para que em meu Reino, comais e bebais à minha mesa; e vos senteis sobre tronos, julgando as doze tribos de Israel.
so that you may eat and drink at my table in my Kingdom, and be seated upon twelve thrones as judges of the twelve tribes of Israel.
31 Disse também o Senhor: Simão, Simão; eis que Satanás vos pediu, para [vos] peneirar como trigo;
Simon! Simon! listen. Satan demanded leave to sift you all like wheat,
32 Mas eu roguei por ti, que tua fé não se acabe; e quando tu te converteres, fortaleça teus irmãos.
but I prayed for you, Simon, that your faith should not fail. And you, when you have returned to me, are to strengthen your Brothers.”
33 E ele lhe disse: Senhor, estou preparado para ir contigo até à prisão, e à morte.
“Master,” said Peter, “with you I am ready to go both to prison and to death.”
34 Mas ele disse: Pedro, eu te digo que hoje o galo não cantará, antes que me negues três vezes que me conheces.
“I tell you, Peter,” replied Jesus, “the cock will not crow to-day till you have disowned all knowledge of me three times.”
35 E disse a eles: Quando vos mandei sem bolsa, e sem sacola, e sem sandálias, por acaso algo vos faltou? E disseram: Nada.
Then he said to them all: “When I sent you out as my Messengers, without either purse, or bag, or sandals, were you in need of anything?” “No; nothing,” they answered.
36 Então, ele lhes disse: Mas agora, quem tem bolsa, tome-a, como também a sacola; e o que não tem espada, venda sua roupa, e compre uma.
“Now, however,” he said, “he who has a purse must take it and his bag as well; and he who has not must sell his cloak and buy a sword.
37 Porque eu vos digo, que ainda é necessário que se cumpra em mim aquilo que está escrito: E ele foi contado com os malfeitores. Porque aquilo que é sobre mim tem que se cumprir.
For, I tell you, that passage of Scripture must be fulfilled in me, which says — ‘He was counted among the godless’; indeed all that refers to me is finding its fulfilment.”
38 E eles disseram: Senhor, eis aqui duas espadas. E ele lhes disse: É o suficiente.
“Master,” they exclaimed, “look, here are two swords!” “Enough!” said Jesus.
39 E saindo, foi, como de costume, para o monte das Oliveiras; e os seus discípulos também o seguiram.
Jesus then went out, and made his way as usual to the Mount of Olives, followed by his disciples.
40 E quando chegou a aquele lugar, disse-lhes: Orai para que não entreis em tentação.
And, when he reached the spot, he said to them: “Pray that you may not fall into temptation.”
41 E se afastou deles, [à distância] de um tiro de pedra. E pondo-se de joelhos, orava,
Then he withdrew about a stone’s throw, and knelt down and began to pray.
42 Dizendo: Pai, se tu quiseres, passa este copo de mim; porém não se faça minha vontade, mas a tua.
“Father,” he said, “if it is thy pleasure, spare me this cup; only, not my will but thine be done.”
43 E apareceu-lhe um anjo do céu, que o fortalecia.
Presently there appeared to him an angel from Heaven, who strengthened him.
44 E estando em angústia, orava mais intensamente. E seu suor se fez como gotas de sangue, que desciam até o chão.
And, as his anguish became intense, he prayed still more earnestly, while his sweat was like great drops of blood falling on the ground.
45 E ele, levantando-se da oração, veio a seus discípulos, e os achou dormindo por causa da tristeza.
Then he rose from praying, and came to the disciples and found them sleeping for sorrow.
46 E disse-lhes: Por que estais dormindo? Levantai-vos, e orai, para que não entreis em tentação.
“Why are you asleep?” he asked them. “Rise and pray, that you may not fall into temptation.”
47 E enquanto ele ainda estava falando, eis que uma multidão [chegou]; e um dos doze, o que se chamava Judas, ia adiante deles, e se aproximou de Jesus, para o beijar.
While he was still speaking, a crowd appeared in sight, led by the man called Judas, who was one of the Twelve. Judas approached Jesus, to kiss him;
48 E Jesus lhe disse: Judas, com um beijo trais ao Filho do homem?
on which Jesus said to him: “Judas, is it by a kiss that you betray the Son of Man?”
49 E os que estavam com ele, vendo o que iria acontecer, disseram-lhe: Senhor, feriremos com a espada?
But when those who were round Jesus saw what was going to happen, they exclaimed: “Master, shall we use our swords?”
50 E um deles feriu a um servo do chefe dos sacerdotes, e cortou-lhe a orelha direita.
And one of them struck the High Priest’s servant and cut off his right ear;
51 E respondendo Jesus, disse: Para com isto! E tocando-lhe a orelha, o curou.
on which Jesus said: “Let me at least do this”; and, touching his ear, he healed the wound.
52 E disse Jesus aos chefes dos sacerdotes, e aos oficiais do Templo, e aos anciãos, que tinham vindo contra ele: Como [se eu fosse] ladrão, saístes com espadas e bastões?
Then, turning to the Chief Priests and Officers in charge at the Temple and Councillors, who had come for him, he said: “Have you come out, as if after a robber, with swords and clubs?
53 Estando eu convosco todo dia no Templo, contra mim não me prendestes; mas esta é a vossa hora, e [sob] a autoridade das trevas.
When I was with you day after day in the Temple Courts, you did not lay hands on me; but now your time has come, and the power of Darkness.”
54 E prendendo-o, [o] trouxeram e o puseram na casa do sumo sacerdote. E Pedro [o] seguia de longe.
Those who had taken Jesus prisoner took him away into the house of the High Priest. Peter followed at a distance.
55 E acenderam fogo no meio do pátio, e sentaram-se juntos, e Pedro se sentou entre eles.
But, when they had lit a fire in the centre of the court-yard and had all sat down there, Peter seated himself in the middle of them.
56 E uma serva, vendo-o sentado junto ao fogo, fixando o olhos nele, disse: Este também estava com ele.
Presently a maidservant saw him sitting near the blaze of the fire. Fixing her eyes on him, she said: “Why, this man was one of his companions!”
57 Porém ele o negou, dizendo: Mulher, eu não o conheço.
But Peter denied it. “I do not know him,” he replied.
58 E pouco depois, outro o viu, e disse: Também tu és um deles.
A little while afterwards some one else — a man — saw him and said: “Why, you are one of them!” “No,” Peter said, “I am not.”
59 E quando já tinha passado quase uma hora, outro afirmava, dizendo: Verdadeiramente também este estava com ele, porque também é galileu.
About an hour later another man declared positively: “This man also was certainly with him. Why, he is a Galilean!”
60 E Pedro disse: Homem, não sei o que dizes. E logo, estando ele ainda falando, cantou o galo.
But Peter said: “I do not know what you are speaking about.” Instantly, while he was still speaking, a cock crowed.
61 E o Senhor, virando-se, olhou para Pedro; e Pedro se lembrou da palavra do Senhor, como lhe tinha dito: Antes que o galo cante, tu me negarás três vezes.
And the Master turned and looked at Peter; and Peter remembered the words that the Master had said to him — “Before a cock has crowed to-day, you will disown me three times”;
62 E Pedro, saindo, chorou amargamente.
and he went outside and wept bitterly.
63 E os homens que tinham prendido a Jesus zombavam dele, ferindo-o;
The men that held Jesus kept making sport of him and beating him.
64 E cobrindo-o, perguntavam, dizendo: Profetiza, quem é o que te feriu?
They blindfolded him and then questioned him. “Now play the Prophet,” they said; “who was it that struck you?”
65 E diziam muitas outras coisas contra ele, insultando-o.
And they heaped many other insults on him.
66 E quando já era de dia, juntaram-se os anciãos do povo, e os chefes dos sacerdotes, e os escribas, e o trouxeram ao supremo conselho,
At daybreak the National Council met — both the Chief Priests and the Teachers of the Law — and took Jesus before their High Council.
67 dizendo, Tu és o Cristo? Dize-nos. E ele lhes disse: Se eu vos disser, não o crereis.
“If you are the Christ,” they said, “tell us so.” “If I tell you,” replied Jesus, “you will not believe me;
68 E também se eu perguntar, não me respondereis, nem [me] soltareis.
and, if I question you, you will not answer.
69 A partir de agora o Filho do homem se sentará à direita do poder de Deus.
But from this hour ‘the Son of Man will be seated on the right hand of God Almighty.’”
70 E todos disseram: Então tu és o Filho de Deus? E ele lhes disse: Vós dizeis que eu sou.
“Are you, then, the Son of God?” they all asked. “It is true,” answered Jesus, “I am.”
71 E eles disseram: Para que precisamos de mais testemunho? Pois nós mesmos o ouvimos de sua boca.
At this they exclaimed: “Why do we want any more evidence? We have heard it ourselves from his own lips!”
