Tiago 5
1 Cuidado, ricos! Chorai e gemei pelas vossas misérias que virão sobre [vós].
Come now, ye rich, weep and howl for your miseries that are coming upon you.
2 As vossas riquezas estão podres, e as vossas roupas estão comidas pela traça.
Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are moth-eaten.
3 O vosso ouro e a vossa prata estão enferrujados, e a ferrugem deles será testemunho contra vós, e comerá a vossa carne como fogo. Acumulastes tesouro para os dias finais.
Your gold and your silver are rusted; and their rust shall be for a testimony against you, and shall eat your flesh as fire. Ye have laid up your treasure in the last days.
4 Eis que o salário dos trabalhadores que colheram nos vossos campos, que por vós foi retido fraudulentamente, está clamando; e os clamores dos que fizeram a colheita chegaram os ouvidos do Senhor dos exércitos.
Behold, the hire of the laborers who mowed your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth out: and the cries of them that reaped have entered into the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth.
5 Vivestes em luxo sobre a terra, e tivestes prazeres. Engordastes os vossos corações num dia de matança.
Ye have lived delicately on the earth, and taken your pleasure; ye have nourished your hearts in a day of slaughter.
6 Condenastes [e] matastes o justo; ele não vos resistiu.
Ye have condemned, ye have killed the righteous [one]; he doth not resist you.
7 Portanto, irmãos, sede pacientes até a vinda do Senhor. Eis que o lavrador espera o precioso fruto da terra, aguardando-o com paciência, até que receba a primeira chuva e a chuva tardia.
Be patient therefore, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient over it, until it receive the early and latter rain.
8 Sede vós também pacientes. Fortalecei os vossos corações, porque a vinda do Senhor está próxima.
Be ye also patient; establish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord is at hand.
9 Irmãos, não vos queixeis uns contra os outros, para que não sejais julgados. Eis que o Juiz está à porta.
Murmur not, brethren, one against another, that ye be not judged: behold, the judge standeth before the doors.
10 Irmãos, tomai como exemplo de aflições e de paciência os profetas que falaram no nome do Senhor.
Take, brethren, for an example of suffering and of patience, the prophets who spake in the name of the Lord.
11 Eis que considerarmos benditos os que suportaram o sofrimento. Ouvistes da paciência de Jó, e vistes o resultado da parte do Senhor; porque o Senhor é muito misericordioso, e cheio de compaixão.
Behold, we call them blessed that endured: ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord, how that the Lord is full of pity, and merciful.
12 Mas, acima de tudo, meus irmãos, não jureis, nem pelo céu nem pela terra, nem [façais] qualquer outro juramento. Mas que de vós o sim seja sim, e o não, não; para que não caiais em condenação.
But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by the heaven, nor by the earth, nor by any other oath: but let your yea be yea, and your nay, nay; that ye fall not under judgment.
13 Alguém entre vós está aflito? Ore. Alguém está contente? Cante louvores.
Is any among you suffering? let him pray. Is any cheerful? let him sing praise.
14 Alguém entre vós está doente? Chame os anciãos da igreja, e orem sobre ele, ungindo-o com azeite no nome do Senhor.
Is any among you sick? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
15 E a oração da fé sarará o doente, e o Senhor o levantará; e se houver cometido pecados, lhe serão perdoados.
and the prayer of faith shall save him that is sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, it shall be forgiven him.
16 Confessai as [vossas] culpas uns aos outros, e orai uns pelos outros, para que sejais curados. A oração de um justo muito pode efetuar.
Confess therefore your sins one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The supplication of a righteous man availeth much in its working.
17 Elias era tão humano quanto nós, e orou insistentemente para não chover; e não choveu sobre a terra por três anos e seis meses.
Elijah was a man of like passions with us, and he prayed fervently that it might not rain; and it rained not on the earth for three years and six months.
18 E orou outra vez, e o céu deu chuva, e a terra produziu o seu fruto.
And he prayed again; and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.
19 Meus irmãos, se algum entre vós houver se desviado da verdade, e alguém o converter,
My brethren, if any among you err from the truth, and one convert him;
20 saiba que aquele que converter um pecador do erro de seu caminho, salvará a sua alma da morte, e cobrirá uma multidão de pecados.
let him know, that he who converteth a sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall cover a multitude of sins.
