2 Timóteo 2
1 Portanto tu, meu filho, fortifica-te na graça que há em Cristo Jesus.
Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace which is in Christ Jesus:
2 E o que de mim ouviste entre muitas testemunhas, confia-o a pessoas fiéis, que sejam competentes para ensinar também a outros.
and the things which thou hast heard from me, before many witnesses, these commit to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
3 Sofre comigo as aflições como bom soldado de Cristo Jesus.
Do thou therefore endure hardship, as becomes a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
4 Nenhum soldado em batalha se envolve com assuntos desta vida, pois tem como objetivo agradar àquele que o alistou.
No one, that enters into military service, embarrasseth himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him.
5 E, também, se alguém está competindo como atleta, não recebe a coroa se não seguir as regras.
And if any one contend in the public games, he gains not the crown unless he contend fairly.
6 O lavrador que trabalha deve ser o primeiro a receber da partilha dos frutos.
The husbandman must labour first, in order to partake of the fruits.
7 Considera o que digo; pois o Senhor te dará entendimento em tudo.
Consider what I say, and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.
8 Lembra-te de Jesus Cristo, ressuscitado dos mortos, da descendência de Davi, segundo o meu evangelho.
Remember Jesus Christ of the seed of David, who was raised from the dead, according to my gospel:
9 Por esse [evangelho] sofro aflições, e até prisões, como um criminoso; mas a palavra de Deus não está presa.
for whose sake I suffer trouble even unto bonds, as if I were a malefactor; but the word of God is not bound.
10 Por isso tudo suporto por causa dos escolhidos, a fim de que também eles obtenham a salvação que está em Cristo Jesus com glória eterna. (aiōnios g166)
Therefore I submit to every thing for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation which is by Christ Jesus, with eternal glory. (aiōnios g166)
11 Esta afirmação [é] fiel: se morrermos com [ele], também com [ele] viveremos;
It is an undoubted truth, if we are dead with Him, we shall also live with Him:
12 se sofrermos, também com [ele] reinaremos; se o negarmos, também ele nos negará;
if we suffer, we shall also reign with Him: if we disown Him, He will also disown us.
13 se formos infiéis, ele continua fiel; porque ele não pode negar a si mesmo.
If we are unfaithful, He continueth faithful notwithstanding; He cannot renounce Himself.
14 Lembra-os disso, alertando-os diante de Deus, que não tenham brigas de palavras, que não têm proveito algum, [a não ser] para a ruína dos ouvintes.
These things remind them of, charging them before the Lord not to contend about words, which is profitable for nothing, and tends to the subversion of the hearers.
15 Procura apresentar-te aprovado a Deus[como] um trabalhador que não tem de que se envergonhar, que usa bem a palavra da verdade.
Endeavour to present thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
16 Mas evita conversas profanas [e] inútes; pois tendem a produzir maior irreverência.
But avoid prophane empty harangues; for they will proceed to more impiety,
17 E a palavra deles se espalhará como uma gangrena; entre os quais são Himeneu e Fileto.
and their discourse will eat like a gangrene. Of whom is Hymeneus and Philetus; who have erred from the truth,
18 Esses se desviaram da verdade, dizendo que a ressurreição já aconteceu; e perverteram a fé de alguns.
saying that the resurrection is already past; and subvert the faith of some.
19 Porém o fundamento de Deus continua firme, e tem este selo: o Senhor conhece os que são seus, e que todo aquele que faz uso do nome do Senhor, se afaste da injustiça.
However, the foundation of God standeth firm, having this inscription, The Lord knoweth them that are his; and, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
20 Numa grande casa não há somente utensílios de ouro e de prata, mas também de madeira e de barro; e uns para honra, porém outros para desonra.
In a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honor, some for meaner uses.
21 Portanto, se alguém se purificar destas coisas, será utensílio para honra, santificado e adequado para uso do Dono, [e] preparado para toda boa obra.
If therefore any one purify himself from these corruptions, he shall be a vessel unto honor, sanctified and fitted for the Master's use, being prepared for every good work.
22 Foge também dos desejos da juventude; e segue a justiça, a fé, o amor, [e] a paz, com os que, de coração puro, invocam o Senhor.
Flee youthful passions: and follow righteousness, fidelity, love, and peace, with all those that call upon the Lord out of a pure heart:
23 E rejeita as questões tolas e sem instrução, como sabes que elas produzem brigas.
but foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they produce quarrels; for the servant of the Lord ought not to wrangle,
24 E ao servo do Senhor não convém brigar, mas sim ser manso com todos, apto para ensinar e suportar;
but to be gentle towards all men, ready to teach, patient under injuries,
25 deve instruir com mansidão aos que se opõem, pois talvez Deus lhes dê arrependimento para conhecerem a verdade;
with meekness instructing those of different sentiments, not knowing but God may give them repentance to the acknowledgement of the truth;
26 e se libertem da armadilha do diabo, em que foram presos à vontade dele.
and they may awake out of the snare of the devil, who have been captivated by him to his will.
