2 Crônicas 19
1 E Josafá rei de Judá se voltou em paz a sua casa em Jerusalém.
Jehoshaphat the king of Judah safely returned to his house in Jerusalem.
2 E saiu-lhe ao encontro Jeú o vidente, filho de Hanani, e disse ao rei Josafá: Ao ímpio dás ajuda, e amas aos que aborrecem ao SENHOR? Pois a ira da presença do SENHOR será sobre ti por ele.
Then Jehu son of Hanani, the seer, went out to meet him and said to King Jehoshaphat, “Should you be helping the wicked? Should you be loving those who hate Yahweh? For this deed, anger from Yahweh is on you.
3 Porém se acharam em ti boas coisas, porque cortaste da terra os bosques, e dispuseste tua coração a buscar a Deus.
However, there is some good to be found in you, in that you have taken the Asherah poles out of the land, and you have fixed your heart to seek God.”
4 Habitou, pois, Josafá em Jerusalém; mas dava volta e saía ao povo, desde Berseba até o monte de Efraim, e os reconduzia ao SENHOR, o Deus de seus pais.
Jehoshaphat lived in Jerusalem; and he went out again among the people from Beersheba to the hill country of Ephraim and brought them back to Yahweh, the God of their fathers.
5 E pôs na terra juízes em todas as cidades fortes de Judá, por todos os lugares.
He placed judges in the land throughout all the fortified cities of Judah, city by city.
6 E disse aos juízes: Olhai o que fazeis: porque não julgueis em lugar de homem, mas sim em lugar do SENHOR, o qual está convosco no negócio do juízo.
He said to the judges, “Consider what you should do, because you are not judging for man, but for Yahweh; he is with you in the act of judging.
7 Seja, pois, convosco o temor do SENHOR; guardai e fazei: porque no SENHOR nosso Deus não há iniquidade, nem acepção de pessoas, nem receber suborno.
Now then, let the fear of Yahweh be upon you. Be careful when you judge, for there is no iniquity with Yahweh our God, nor is there any favoritism or bribe taking.”
8 E pôs também Josafá em Jerusalém alguns dos levitas e sacerdotes, e dos pais de famílias de Israel, para o juízo do SENHOR e para as causas. E voltaram a Jerusalém.
Moreover, in Jerusalem Jehoshaphat appointed some of the Levites and the priests, and some of the heads of the ancestral houses of Israel, for carrying out judgment for Yahweh, and for the sake of disputes. They lived in Jerusalem.
9 E mandou-lhes, dizendo: Procedereis assim com temor do SENHOR, com verdade, e com coração íntegro.
He instructed them, saying, “You must serve in reverence for Yahweh, faithfully, and with your whole heart.
10 Em qualquer causa que vier a vós de vossos irmãos que habitam nas cidades, entre sangue e sangue, entre lei e preceito, estatutos e direitos, haveis de admoestar-lhes que não pequem contra o SENHOR, porque não venha ira sobre vós e sobre vossos irmãos. Agindo assim, não pecareis.
Whenever any dispute comes to you from your brothers who live in their cities, whether concerning bloodshed, whether about laws and commands, statutes or decrees, you must warn them, so they do not become guilty before Yahweh, or anger will come toward you and toward your brothers. You shall do this and you will not be guilty.
11 E eis que Amarias sacerdote será o que vos presida em todo negócio do SENHOR; e Zebadias filho de Ismael, príncipe da casa de Judá, em todos os negócios do rei; também os levitas serão oficiais em presença de vós. Esforçai-vos, pois, e agi; porque o SENHOR estará com quem é bom.
See, Amariah the chief priest is over you in all the matters of Yahweh. Zebadiah son of Ishmael, the leader of the house of Judah, is in charge of all the matters of the king. Also, the Levites will be officers serving you. Be strong and obey your instructions, and may Yahweh be with those who are good.”
