1 Tessalonicenses 2
1 Pois vós mesmos, irmãos, sabeis que a nossa passagem por entre vós não foi inútil.
For yourselves, brethren, know our entrance in unto you, that it was not in vain:
2 Porém, mesmo que antes, em Filipos, tenhamos sofrido e sido maltratados, como sabeis, tivemos no nosso Deus ousadia para vos falar o evangelho de Deus em meio a muita oposição.
But even after that we had suffered before, and were shamefully pleaded, as all of you know, at Philippi, we were bold in our God to speak unto you the gospel of God with much contention.
3 Pois a nossa exortação não [foi] com engano, nem com impureza, nem fraude;
For our exhortation was not of deceit, nor of uncleanness, nor in guile:
4 mas, como fomos aprovados por Deus para que o evangelho nos fosse confiado, assim falamos; não para agradar as pessoas, mas sim a Deus, que prova os nossos corações.
But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which tries our hearts.
5 Pois, como sabeis, nunca usamos palavras de lisonja, nem pretexto de ganância; Deus é testemunha.
For neither at any time used we flattering words, (logos) as all of you know, nor a coat of covetousness; God is witness:
6 Não buscamos a glória humana, nem de vós, nem de outros, ainda que tínhamos autoridade, como apóstolos de Cristo, para demandar de vós.
Nor of men sought we glory, neither of you, nor yet of others, when we might have been burdensome, as the apostles of Christ.
7 Porém fomos suaves entre vós, como uma mãe que dá carinho aos seus filhos.
But we were gentle among you, even as a nurse cherishes her children:
8 Assim nós, tendo tanta afeição por vós, queríamos de boa vontade compartilhar convosco não somente o evangelho de Deus, mas também as nossas próprias almas, porque éreis queridos por nós.
So being affectionately desirous of you, we were willing to have imparted unto you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because all of you were dear unto us.
9 Pois vos lembrais, irmãos, do nosso trabalho e fadiga; enquanto vos pregávamos o evangelho de Deus, trabalhávamos noite e dia para que não fôssemos um peso para vós.
For all of you remember, brethren, our labour and travail: for labouring night and day, because we would not be chargeable unto any of you, we preached unto you the gospel of God.
10 Vós e Deus [sois] testemunhas de como foi santa, justa, e irrepreensível a maneira da qual nos comportamos convosco, que credes.
All of you are witnesses, and God also, how holily and justly and unblameably we behaved ourselves among you that believe:
11 Assim como sabeis que, como um pai aos seus filhos, exortávamos, consolávamos, e testemunhávamos a cada um de vós,
As all of you know how we exhorted and comforted and charged every one of you, as a father does his children,
12 para que andásseis de maneira digna diante de Deus, que vos chama para o seu reino e glória.
That all of you would walk worthy of God, who has called you unto his kingdom and glory.
13 Por isso também agradecemos sem cessar a Deus, que, quando recebestes a palavra da Deus pregada por nós, a recebestes, não [como] palavra de homens, mas (conforme em verdade é) [como] a palavra de Deus, a qual também opera em vós, que credes.
For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when all of you received the word (logos) of God which all of you heard of us, all of you received it not as the word (logos) of men, but as it is in truth, the word (logos) of God, which effectually works also in you that believe.
14 Pois vós, irmãos, vos tornastes imitadores das igrejas de Deus que estão na Judeia em Cristo Jesus; porque também sofrestes as mesmas coisas dos vossos próprios compatriotas, como também eles dos judeus;
For all of you, brethren, became followers of the churches of God which in Judaea are in Christ Jesus: for all of you also have suffered like things of your own countrymen, even as they have of the Jews:
15 que também mataram o Senhor Jesus e os profetas, e nos perseguiram, e não agradam a Deus, e são contrários a todos:
Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they please not God, and are contrary to all men:
16 eles nos impedem de falar aos gentios, para que sejam salvos. Assim eles estão se enchendo constantemente de pecados, mas, por fim, ira veio sobre eles até o fim.
Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up their sins always: for the wrath has come upon them to the uttermost.
17 Porém, irmãos, quando nos separamos de vós por algum tempo, em presença, não no coração, buscamos mais, com muito desejo, ver o vosso rosto;
But we, brethren, being taken from you for a short time in presence, not in heart, endeavoured the more abundantly to see your face with great desire.
18 pois quisemos, pelo menos eu, Paulo, vos visitar uma vez e outra; mas Satanás nos impediu.
Wherefore we would have come unto you, even I Paul, once and again; but Satan hindered us.
19 Pois, qual é nossa esperança, alegria, ou coroa de orgulho, diante do nosso Senhor Jesus na sua vinda? Acaso não sois vós?
For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Are not even all of you in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming?
20 Porque vós sois o nosso orgulho e alegria.
For all of you are our glory and joy.
