Joel 2
1 Tocai a buzina em Sião, e clamai em alta voz no monte da minha santidade: perturbem-se todos os moradores da terra, porque o dia do Senhor vem, porque está perto:
Blow the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain! Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble, for the day of the LORD comes, for it is close at hand:
2 Dia de trevas e de escuridade; dia de nuvens e grossas trevas; como a alva espalhada sobre os montes; povo grande e poderoso, qual desde o tempo antigo nunca houve, nem depois dele haverá mais até aos anos de geração em geração.
A day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness. As the dawn spreading on the mountains, a great and strong people; there has never been the like, neither will there be any more after them, even to the years of many generations.
3 Diante dele um fogo consome, e atráz dele uma chama abraza: a terra diante dele é como o jardim do Éden, mas atráz dele um deserto de assolação, nem tão pouco haverá coisa que dela escape.
A fire devours before them, and behind them, a flame burns. The land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them, a desolate wilderness. Yes, and no one has escaped them.
4 O seu parecer é como o parecer de cavalos: e correrão como cavaleiros.
Their appearance is as the appearance of horses, and they run as horsemen.
5 Como o estrondo de carros, irão saltando sobre os cumes dos montes, como o sonido da chama de fogo que consome a pragana, como um povo poderoso, ordenado para o combate.
Like the noise of chariots on the tops of the mountains, they leap, like the noise of a flame of fire that devours the stubble, like a strong people set in battle array.
6 Diante dele temerão os povos; todos os rostos são como a tisnadura da panela.
At their presence the peoples are in anguish. All faces have grown pale.
7 Como valentes correrão, como homens de guerra subirão os muros; e irá cada um nos seus caminhos e não se desviarão da sua fileira.
They run like mighty men. They climb the wall like warriors. They each march in his line, and they don’t swerve off course.
8 Ninguém apertará a seu irmão; irá cada um pelo seu carreiro; sobre a mesma espada se arremessarão, e não serão feridos.
One doesn’t jostle another. They each march in their own path. They burst through the defences and don’t break ranks.
9 Irão pela cidade, correrão pelos muros, subirão às casas, pelas janelas entrarão como o ladrão.
They rush on the city. They run on the wall. They climb up into the houses. They enter in at the windows like thieves.
10 Diante dele tremerá a terra, abalar-se-ão os céus; o sol e a lua se enegrecerão, e as estrelas retirarão o seu resplandor.
The earth quakes before them. The heavens tremble. The sun and the moon are darkened, and the stars withdraw their shining.
11 E o Senhor levanta a sua voz diante do seu exército; porque muitíssimos são os seus arraiais; porque poderoso é, fazendo a sua palavra; porque o dia do Senhor é grande e mui terrível, e quem o poderá sofrer?
The LORD thunders his voice before his army, for his forces are very great; for he is strong who obeys his command; for the day of the LORD is great and very awesome, and who can endure it?
12 Ora, pois, também fala o Senhor: Convertei-vos a mim com todo o vosso coração; e isso com jejuns, e com choro, e com pranto.
“Yet even now,” says the LORD, “turn to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning.”
13 E rasgai o vosso coração, e não os vossos vestidos, e convertei-vos ao Senhor vosso Deus; porque ele é misericordioso, e é clemente, e tardio em irar-se, e grande em beneficência, e se arrepende do mal.
Tear your heart and not your garments, and turn to the LORD, your God; for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness, and relents from sending calamity.
14 Quem sabe se se converterá e se arrependerá, e deixará após si uma benção, em oferta de manjar e libação para o Senhor vosso Deus?
Who knows? He may turn and relent, and leave a blessing behind him, even a meal offering and a drink offering to the LORD, your God.
15 Tocai a buzina em Sião, santificai um jejum, apregoai um dia de proibição.
Blow the trumpet in Zion! Sanctify a fast. Call a solemn assembly.
16 Congregai o povo, santificai a congregação, ajuntai os anciãos, congregai os filhinhos, e os que mamam os peitos: saia o noivo da sua recâmara, e a noiva do seu tálamo.
Gather the people. Sanctify the assembly. Assemble the elders. Gather the children, and those who nurse from breasts. Let the bridegroom go out of his room, and the bride out of her chamber.
17 Chorem os sacerdotes, ministros do Senhor, entre o alpendre e o altar, e digam: Poupa a teu povo, ó Senhor, e não entregues a tua herança ao opróbrio, para que as nações façam mofa dele; porque diriam entre os povos: Onde está o seu Deus?
Let the priests, the ministers of the LORD, weep between the porch and the altar, and let them say, “Spare your people, LORD, and don’t give your heritage to reproach, that the nations should rule over them. Why should they say amongst the peoples, ‘Where is their God?’”
18 Então o Senhor terá zelo da sua terra, e se compadecerá do seu povo.
Then the LORD was jealous for his land, and had pity on his people.
19 E o Senhor responderá, e dirá ao seu povo: Eis que vos envio o trigo, e o mosto, e o óleo, e deles sereis fartos, e vos não entregarei mais ao opróbrio entre as nações.
The LORD answered his people, “Behold, I will send you grain, new wine, and oil, and you will be satisfied with them; and I will no more make you a reproach amongst the nations.
20 E aquele que é do norte farei partir para longe de vós, e lança-lo-ei em uma terra seca e deserta: a sua face para o mar oriental, e a sua extremidade para o mal ocidental; e subirá o seu fedor, e subirá a sua podridão; porque fez grandes coisas.
But I will remove the northern army far away from you, and will drive it into a barren and desolate land, its front into the eastern sea, and its back into the western sea; and its stench will come up, and its bad smell will rise.” Surely he has done great things.
21 Não temas, ó terra: regozija-te e alegra-te; porque o Senhor fez grandes coisas.
Land, don’t be afraid. Be glad and rejoice, for the LORD has done great things.
22 Não temais, animais do campo, porque os pastos do deserto reverdecerão, porque o arvoredo dará o seu fruto, a vide e a figueira darão a sua força.
Don’t be afraid, you animals of the field; for the pastures of the wilderness spring up, for the tree bears its fruit. The fig tree and the vine yield their strength.
23 E vós, filhos de Sião, regozijai-vos e alegrai-vos no Senhor vosso Deus, porque ele vos dará ensinador de justiça, e vos fará descer a chuva, a temporã e a serodia, no primeiro mês.
“Be glad then, you children of Zion, and rejoice in the LORD, your God; for he gives you the early rain in just measure, and he causes the rain to come down for you, the early rain and the latter rain, as before.
24 E as eiras se encherão de trigo, e os lagares trasbordarão de mosto e de óleo.
The threshing floors will be full of wheat, and the vats will overflow with new wine and oil.
25 E restituir-vos-ei os anos que comeu o gafanhoto, a locusta, e o pulgão e a aruga, o meu grande exército que enviei contra vós.
I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the great locust, the grasshopper, and the caterpillar, my great army, which I sent amongst you.
26 E comereis abundantemente e até fartar-vos, e louvareis o nome do Senhor vosso Deus, o qual obrou para convosco maravilhosamente; e o meu povo não será envergonhado para sempre.
You will have plenty to eat and be satisfied, and will praise the name of the LORD, your God, who has dealt wondrously with you; and my people will never again be disappointed.
27 E vós sabereis que eu estou no meio de Israel, e que eu sou o Senhor vosso Deus, e ninguém mais: e o meu povo não será envergonhado para sempre.
You will know that I am amongst Israel, and that I am the LORD, your God, and there is no one else; and my people will never again be disappointed.
28 E há de ser que, depois, derramarei o meu espírito sobre toda a carne, e vossos filhos e vossas filhas profetizarão, os vossos velhos sonharão sonhos, os vossos mancebos verão visões.
“It will happen afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; and your sons and your daughters will prophesy. Your old men will dream dreams. Your young men will see visions.
29 E também sobre os servos e sobre as servas naqueles dias derramarei o meu espírito.
And also on the servants and on the handmaids in those days, I will pour out my Spirit.
30 E darei prodígios no céu, e na terra, sangue e fogo, e colunas de fumo.
I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth: blood, fire, and pillars of smoke.
31 O sol se converterá em trevas, e a lua em sangue, antes que venha o grande e terrível dia do Senhor.
The sun will be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the LORD comes.
32 E há de ser que todo aquele que invocar o nome do Senhor escapará; porque no monte de Sião e em Jerusalém haverá livramento, assim como o Senhor tem dito, e nos que restarem, os quais o Senhor chamará.
It will happen that whoever will call on the LORD’s name shall be saved; for in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there will be those who escape, as the LORD has said, and amongst the remnant, those whom the LORD calls.
