Mateus 10
1 E, chamando os seus doze discipulos, deu-lhes poder sobre os espiritos immundos, para os expulsarem, e curarem toda a enfermidade e todo o mal.
Jesus called his twelve disciples together and gave them power to throw out evil spirits, and to heal all kinds of diseases and sicknesses.
2 Ora os nomes dos doze apostolos são estes: O primeiro, Simão, chamado Pedro, e André, seu irmão; Thiago, filho de Zebedeo, e João, seu irmão;
These are the names of the twelve apostles: first, Simon, (also called Peter), Andrew his brother, James the son of Zebedee, John his brother,
3 Philippe e Bartholomeo; Thomé e Mattheus, o publicano; Thiago, filho de Alpheo, e Lebbeo, appellidado Thaddeo;
Philip, Bartholomew, Thomas, Matthew the tax-collector, James the son of Alphaeus, Thaddeus,
4 Simão Cananita, e Judas Iscariotes, o mesmo que o trahiu.
Simon the revolutionary, and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed Jesus.
5 Jesus enviou estes doze, e lhes ordenou, dizendo: Não ireis pelo caminho das gentes, nem entrareis em cidade de samaritanos;
These Twelve Jesus sent out, telling them, “Don't go to the foreigners, or to any Samaritan city.
6 Mas ide antes ás ovelhas perdidas da casa d'Israel;
You are to go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
7 E, indo, prégae, dizendo: É chegado o reino dos céus.
Wherever you go, tell the people, ‘The kingdom of heaven is near.’
8 Curae os enfermos, purificae os leprosos, resuscitae os mortos, expulsae os demonios: de graça recebestes, de graça dae.
Heal those who are sick. Resurrect the dead. Cure the lepers. Drive out demons. You received freely, so give freely!
9 Não possuaes oiro, nem prata, nem cobre, em vossos cintos,
Don't carry any gold, silver, or copper coins in your pockets,
10 Nem alforges para o caminho, nem duas tunicas, nem alparcas, nem bordão; porque digno é o operario do seu alimento.
or a bag for your journey, or two cloaks, or sandals, or a walking stick, for a worker deserves to be supported.
11 E, em qualquer cidade ou aldeia em que entrardes, procurae saber quem n'ella seja digno, e hospedae-vos ahi até que vos retireis.
Wherever you go, whatever town or village, ask for someone who lives according to good principles, and remain there until you leave.
12 E, quando entrardes n'alguma casa, saudae-a;
When you enter the house, give it your blessing.
13 E, se a casa fôr digna, desça sobre ella a vossa paz; porém, se não fôr digna, torne para vós a vossa paz.
If the home deserves it, let your peace rest on it, but if it doesn't deserve it, let your peace return to you.
14 E, se ninguem vos receber, nem escutar vossas palavras, saindo d'aquella casa ou cidade, sacudi o pó dos vossos pés.
If someone doesn't welcome you, and refuses to listen to what you have to say, then leave that house or that town, shaking its dust off your feet as you go.
15 Em verdade vos digo que, no dia do juizo, haverá menos rigor para o paiz de Sodoma e Gomorrah do que para aquella cidade.
I tell you the truth, it will be better for Sodom and Gomorrah at the Day of Judgment than for that town!
16 Eis que vos envio como ovelhas ao meio de lobos; portanto sêde prudentes como as serpentes e simplices como as pombas.
Look, I'm sending you out like sheep among wolves. So be as wise as serpents and harmless as doves.
17 Acautelae-vos, porém, dos homens; porque elles vos entregarão aos synhedrios, e vos açoitarão nas suas synagogas;
Watch out for those who will hand you over to be tried by town councils and will whip you in their synagogues.
18 E sereis até conduzidos á presença dos governadores e dos reis por causa de mim, para lhes servir de testemunho a elles e aos gentios.
You will be dragged before governors and kings because of me, to witness to them and to the foreigners.
19 Mas, quando vos entregaram, não estejaes cuidadosos de como, ou o que haveis de fallar, porque n'aquella mesma hora vos será ministrado o que haveis de dizer.
But when they put you on trial, don't worry about how you should speak or what you should say, because you'll be told what to say at the right time.
20 Porque não sois vós que fallaes, mas o Espirito de vosso Pae, que falla em vós.
For it isn't you who will speak but the spirit of the Father will speak through you.
21 E o irmão entregará á morte o irmão, e o pae o filho; e os filhos se levantarão contra os paes, e os matarão.
Brother will betray brother and have him killed, and a father will do the same to his child. Children will rebel against their parents, and have them put to death.
22 E odiados de todos sereis por causa do meu nome: mas aquelle que perseverar até ao fim será salvo.
Everyone will hate you because you follow me, but those who endure until the end will be saved.
23 Quando pois vos perseguirem n'esta cidade, fugi para outra; porque em verdade vos digo que não acabareis de percorrer as cidades d'Israel, sem que venha o Filho do homem.
When you're persecuted in one town, run away to the next. I'm telling the truth: you won't finish going to the towns of Israel before the Son of man comes.
24 Não é o discipulo mais do que o mestre, nem o servo mais do que o seu senhor.
Disciples are not more important than their teacher; servants are not more important than their master.
25 Baste ao discipulo ser como seu mestre, e ao servo como seu senhor. se chamaram Beelzebú ao pae de familia, quanto mais aos seus domesticos?
Disciples should be satisfied to become like their teacher, and servants like their master. If the head of the house has been called the head demon Beelzebub, then the members of his household will be demonized even more!
26 Portanto, não os temaes; porque nada ha encoberto que não haja de revelar-se, nem occulto que não haja de saber-se.
So don't be frightened of them, for there's nothing covered that won't be exposed, and nothing hidden that won't be made known.
27 O que vos digo em trevas dizei-o em luz; e o que escutaes ao ouvido prégae-o sobre os telhados.
What I tell you here in the dark, declare when it's light, and what you hear whispered in your ear, shout from the rooftops.
28 E não temaes os que matam o corpo, e não podem matar a alma: temei antes aquelle que pode fazer perecer no inferno a alma e o corpo. (Geenna g1067)
Don't be afraid of those who can kill you physically, but can't kill you spiritually. Instead, be afraid of the one who can destroy you physically and spiritually in the fires of destruction. (Geenna g1067)
29 Não se vendem dois passarinhos por um ceitil? e nenhum d'elles cairá em terra sem a vontade de vosso Pae.
Aren't two sparrows sold for just one penny? But not a single one of them falls to the ground without your Father knowing about it.
30 E até mesmo os cabellos da vossa cabeça estão todos contados.
Even the hairs on your head have all been counted.
31 Não temaes pois: mais valeis vós do que muitos passarinhos.
So don't worry—you're worth more than many sparrows!
32 Portanto, qualquer que me confessar diante dos homens, eu o confessarei diante de meu Pae, que está nos céus.
Anyone who publicly declares their commitment to me, I will also declare my commitment to them before my Father in heaven.
33 Mas qualquer que me negar diante dos homens, eu o negarei tambem diante de meu Pae, que está nos céus.
But anyone who publicly denies me, I will also deny before my Father in heaven.
34 Não cuideis que vim trazer a paz á terra; não vim trazer a paz, mas a espada;
Don't think I've come to bring peace on earth. I haven't come to bring peace, but a sword.
35 Porque eu vim pôr em dissensão o homem contra seu pae, e a filha contra sua mãe, e a nora contra sua sogra;
I've come ‘to turn a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.
36 E serão os inimigos do homem os que são seus familiares.
Your enemies will be those of your own family!’
37 Quem ama o pae ou a mãe mais do que a mim não é digno de mim; e quem ama o filho ou a filha mais do que a mim não é digno de mim.
If you love your father or mother more than me you don't deserve to be mine, and if you love your son or daughter more than me you don't deserve to be mine.
38 E quem não toma a sua cruz, e não segue após mim, não é digno de mim.
If you don't pick up your cross and follow me you don't deserve to be mine.
39 Quem achar a sua vida perdel-a-ha; e quem perder a sua vida por amor de mim achal-a-ha.
If you try to save your life, you will lose it, but if you lose your life because of me you will save it.
40 Quem vos recebe, me recebe a mim; e quem me recebe a mim, recebe aquelle que me enviou.
Those who welcome you welcome me, and those who welcome me welcome the one that sent me.
41 Quem recebe um propheta em qualidade de propheta, receberá galardão de propheta; e quem recebe um justo em qualidade de justo, receberá galardão de justo.
Those who welcome a prophet because that's what they are will receive the same reward as a prophet. Those who welcome someone who does right will receive the same reward as someone who does right.
42 E qualquer que tiver dado só que seja um copo d'agua fria a um d'estes pequenos, em qualidade de discipulo, em verdade vos digo que de modo nenhum perderá o seu galardão.
I tell you the truth, those who give a drink of cool water to the least important of my disciples will definitely not miss out on their reward.”
