Jeremias 20
1 E Pashur, filho de Immer, o sacerdote, que havia sido nomeado presidente na casa do Senhor, ouviu a Jeremias, que prophetizava estas palavras.
Now Pashur the son of Immer the priest, who was also chief governor in the house of the LORD, heard that Jeremiah prophesied these things.
2 E feriu Pashur ao propheta Jeremias, e o metteu no cepo que está na porta superior de Benjamin, a qual está na casa do Senhor.
Then Pashur stroke Jeremiah the prophet, and put him in the stocks that were in the high gate of Benjamin, which was by the house of the LORD.
3 E succedeu que no dia seguinte Pashur tirou a Jeremias do cepo. Então disse-lhe Jeremias: O Senhor não chama o teu nome Pashur, mas Magor-missabib.
And it came to pass on the next day, that Pashur brought forth Jeremiah out of the stocks. Then said Jeremiah unto him, The LORD has not called your name Pashur, but Magormissabib.
4 Porque assim diz o Senhor: Eis que farei de ti um espanto para ti mesmo, e para todos os teus amigos, e cairão á espada de seus inimigos, e teus olhos o verão: a todo o Judah entregarei na mão do rei de Babylonia, e leval-os-ha presos a Babylonia, e feril-os-ha á espada.
For thus says the LORD, Behold, I will make you a terror to yourself, and to all your friends: and they shall fall by the sword of their enemies, and your eyes shall behold it: and I will give all Judah into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall carry them captive into Babylon, and shall slay them with the sword.
5 Tambem darei toda a fazenda d'esta cidade, e todo o seu trabalho, e todas as suas coisas preciosas, e todos os thesouros dos reis de Judah entregarei na mão de seus inimigos, e saqueal-os-hão, e tomal-os-hão e leval-os-hão a Babylonia.
Moreover I will deliver all the strength of this city, and all the labours thereof, and all the precious things thereof, and all the treasures of the kings of Judah will I give into the hand of their enemies, which shall spoil them, and take them, and carry them to Babylon.
6 E tu, Pashur, e todos os moradores da tua casa ireis para o captiveiro; e virás a Babylonia, e ali morrerás, e ali serás sepultado, tu, e todos os teus amigos, aos quaes prophetizaste falsamente.
And you, Pashur, and all that dwell in your house shall go into captivity: and you shall come to Babylon, and there you shall die, and shall be buried there, you, and all your friends, to whom you have prophesied lies.
7 Persuadiste-me, ó Senhor, e persuadido fiquei; mais forte foste do que eu, e prevaleceste: sirvo de escarneo todo o dia, cada um d'elles zomba de mim.
O LORD, you have deceived me, and I was deceived; you are stronger than I, and have prevailed: I am in derision daily, every one mocks me.
8 Porque desde que fallo, grito; clamo violencia e destruição; porque se tornou a palavra do Senhor em opprobrio e em ludibrio todo o dia.
For since I spoke, I cried out, I cried violence and spoil; because the word of the LORD was made a reproach unto me, and a derision, daily.
9 Então disse eu: Não me lembrarei d'elle, e não fallarei mais no seu nome; mas foi no meu coração como fogo ardente, encerrado nos meus ossos; e fiquei fatigado de soffrer, e não pude.
Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay.
10 Porque ouvi a murmuração de muitos ácerca de Magor-missabib, que diziam: Denunciae-nol-o, e o denunciaremos; todos os que teem paz comigo aguardam o meu manquejar, dizendo: Bem pode ser que se deixará persuadir; então prevaleceremos contra elle e nos vingaremos d'elle.
For I heard the defaming of many, fear on every side. Report, say they, and we will report it. All my familiars watched for my halting, saying, Possibly he will be enticed, and we shall prevail against him, and we shall take our revenge on him.
11 Porém o Senhor está comigo como um valente terrivel; por isso tropeçarão os meus perseguidores, e não prevalecerão: ficarão mui confundidos; porque não se houveram prudentemente, terão uma confusão perpetua que nunca se esquecerá
But the LORD is with me as a mighty terrible one: therefore my persecutors shall stumble, and they shall not prevail: they shall be greatly ashamed; for they shall not prosper: their everlasting confusion shall never be forgotten.
12 Tu pois, ó Senhor dos Exercitos, que esquadrinhas ao justo, e vês os rins e o coração, veja eu a tua vingança d'elles; pois já te descobri a minha causa
But, O LORD of hosts, that try the righteous, and see the reins and the heart, let me see your vengeance on them: for unto you have I opened my cause.
13 Cantae ao Senhor, louvae ao Senhor; pois livrou a alma do necessitado da mão dos malfeitores.
Sing unto the LORD, praise all of you the LORD: for he has delivered the soul of the poor from the hand of evildoers.
14 Maldito o dia em que nasci: o dia em que minha mãe me pariu não seja bemdito.
Cursed be the day wherein I was born: let not the day wherein my mother bare me be blessed.
15 Maldito o homem que deu as novas a meu pae, dizendo: Nasceu-te um filho macho; alegrando-o grandemente.
Cursed be the man who brought tidings to my father, saying, A male child is born unto you; making him very glad.
16 E seja esse homem como as cidades que o Senhor destruiu e não se arrependeu: e ouça clamor pela manhã, e ao tempo do meio-dia um alarido.
And let that man be as the cities which the LORD overthrew, and repented not: and let him hear the cry in the morning, and the shouting at noontide;
17 Porque não me matou desde a madre? ou minha mãe não foi minha sepultura? ou porque não ficou a sua madre gravida perpetuamente?
Because he slew me not from the womb; or that my mother might have been my grave, and her womb to be always great with me.
18 Porque sahi da madre, para ver trabalho e tristeza? para que se consumam os meus dias na confusão.
Wherefore came I forth out of the womb to see labour and sorrow, that my days should be consumed with shame?
