Isaías 57

1 Perece o justo, e não ha quem considere n'isso em seu coração, e os homens compassivos são recolhidos, sem que alguem considere que o justo é recolhido antes do mal.

See how the just man has perished, and no one lays [it] to heart: and righteous men are taken away, and no one considers: for the righteous has been removed out of the way of injustice.

2 Entrará em paz: descançarão nas suas camas, os que houverem andado na sua rectidão.

His burial shall be in peace: he has been removed out of the way.

3 Porém chegae-vos aqui, vós os filhos da agoureira, semente adulterina, e que commetteis fornicação.

But draw ye near hither, ye lawless children, the seed of adulterers and the harlot.

4 De quem fazeis o vosso passatempo? contra quem alargaes a bocca, e deitaes para fóra a lingua? porventura não sois filhos da transgressão, semente da falsidade,

Wherein have ye been rioting? and against whom have ye opened your mouth, and against whom have ye loosed your tongue? are ye not children of perdition? a lawless seed?

5 Que vos esquentaes com os deuses debaixo de toda a arvore verde, e sacrificaes os filhos nos ribeiros, debaixo dos cantos dos penhascos?

who call upon idols under the leafy trees, slaying your children in the valleys among the rocks?

6 Nas pedras lisas dos ribeiros está a tua parte; estas, estas são a tua sorte; a estas tambem derramas a tua libação, e lhes offereces offertas: contentar-me-hia eu d'estas coisas?

That is thy portion, this is thy lot: and to them hast thou poured forth drink-offerings, and to these hast thou offered meat-offerings. Shall I not therefore be angry for these things?

7 Sobre os montes altos e levantados pões a tua cama; e lá sobes para sacrificar sacrificios.

On a lofty and high mountain, there is thy bed, and thither thou carriedst up thy meat-offerings:

8 E detraz das portas e dos umbraes pões os teus memoriaes; porque, desviando-te de mim, a outros te descobres, e sobes, alargas a tua cama, e fazes concerto com alguns d'elles: amas a sua cama, onde quer que a vês.

and behind the posts of thy door thou didst place thy memorials. Didst thou think that if thou shouldest depart from me, thou wouldest gain? thou hast loved those that lay with thee;

9 E vaes ao rei com oleo, e multiplicas os teus perfumes; e envias os teus embaixadores para longe, e te abates até aos infernos. (Sheol h7585)

and thou hast multiplied thy whoredom with them, and thou hast increased the number of them that are far from thee, and hast sent ambassadors beyond thy borders, and hast been debased even to hell. (Sheol h7585)

10 Na tua comprida viagem te cançaste; porém não dizes: É coisa desesperada: o que buscavas achaste; por isso não adoeces.

Thou has wearied thyself with thy many ways; yet thou saidst not, I will cease to strengthen myself: for thou has done these things; therefore thou has not supplicated me.

11 Mas de que tiveste receio, ou a quem temeste? porque mentiste, e não te lembraste de mim, nem no teu coração me pozeste? não é porventura porque eu me calo, e isso já desde muito tempo, e me não temes?

Through dread of whom hast thou feared, and lied against me, and has not remembered, nor considered me, nor regarded me, yea, though when I see thee I pass thee by, yet thou has not feared me.

12 Eu publicarei a tua justiça, e as tuas obras, que não te aproveitarão.

And I will declare thy righteousness, and thy sins, which shall not profit thee.

13 Quando vieres a clamar, livrem-te os teus congregados; porém o vento a todos levará, e a vaidade os arrebatará: mas o que confia em mim possuirá a terra, e herdará o meu sancto monte.

When thou criest out, let them deliver thee in thine affliction: for all these the wind shall take, and the tempest shall carry [them] away: but they that cleave to me shall possess the land, and shall inherit my holy mountain.

14 E dir-se-ha: Aplainae, aplainae a estrada, preparae o caminho: tirae os tropeços do caminho do meu povo.

And they shall say, Clear the ways before him, and take up the stumbling-blocks out of the way of my people.

15 Porque assim diz o alto e o sublime, que habita na eternidade, e cujo nome é sancto: Na altura e no logar sancto habito; como tambem com o contrito e abatido de espirito, para vivificar o espirito dos abatidos, e para vivificar o coração dos contritos.

Thus saith the Most High, who dwells on high for ever, Holy in the holies, is his name, the Most High resting in the holies, and giving patience to the faint-hearted, and giving life to the broken-hearted:

16 Porque para sempre não contenderei, nem continuamente me indignarei; porque o espirito perante a minha face se opprimiria, e as almas que eu fiz.

I will not take vengeance on you for ever, neither will I be always angry with you: for my Spirit shall go forth from me, and I have created all breath.

17 Pela iniquidade da sua avareza me indignei, e os feri: escondi-me, e indignei-me; comtudo, rebeldes, seguiram o caminho do seu coração.

On account of sin for a little while I grieved him, and smote him, and turned away my face from him; and he was grieved, and he went on sorrowful in his ways.

18 Eu vejo os seus caminhos, e os sararei, e os guiarei, e lhes tornarei a dar consolações, a saber, aos seus pranteadores.

I have seen his ways, and healed him, and comforted him, and given him true comfort;

19 Eu crio os fructos dos labios: paz, paz, para os que estão longe, e para os que estão perto, diz o Senhor, e eu os sararei.

peace upon peace to them that are far off, and to them that are nigh: and the Lord has said, I will heal them.

20 Mas os impios são como o mar bravo, porque não se pode aquietar, e as suas aguas lançam de si lama e lodo.

But the unrighteous shall be tossed as troubled waves, and shall not be able to rest.

21 Os impios, diz o meu Deus, não teem paz.

There is no joy to the ungodly, said God.
