Isaías 17

1 Pezo de Damasco. Eis que Damasco será tirada, e mais não será cidade, antes será um montão de ruinas.

The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.

2 As cidades d'Aroer serão desamparadas: hão de ser para os rebanhos que se deitarão sem que alguem os espante.

The cities of Aroer are forsaken: they shall be for flocks, which shall lie down, and none shall make them afraid.

3 E a fortaleza d'Ephraim cessará, como tambem o reino de Damasco e o residuo da Syria; serão como a gloria dos filhos de Israel, diz o Senhor dos Exercitos.

The fortress also shall cease from Ephraim, and the kingdom from Damascus, and the remnant of Syria: they shall be as the glory of the children of Israel, says the LORD of hosts.

4 E será n'aquelle dia que ficará attenuada a gloria de Jacob, e a gordura da sua carne se emmagrecerá.

And in that day it shall come to pass, that the glory of Jacob shall be made thin, and the fatness of his flesh shall wax lean.

5 Porque será como o segador que colhe a ceara e com o seu braço sega as espigas: e será tambem como o que colhe espigas no valle de Rephaim.

And it shall be as when the harvestman gathers the corn, and reaps the ears with his arm; and it shall be as he that gathers ears in the valley of Rephaim.

6 Porém ainda ficarão n'elle alguns rabiscos, como no sacudir da oliveira, em que só duas ou tres azeitonas ficam na mais alta ponta dos ramos, e quatro ou cinco em seus ramos fructiferos, diz o Senhor Deus d'Israel.

Yet gleaning grapes shall be left in it, as the shaking of an olive tree, two or three berries in the top of the uppermost bough, four or five in the utmost fruitful branches thereof, says the LORD God of Israel.

7 N'aquelle dia attentará o homem para o seu Creador, e os seus olhos olharão para o Sancto d'Israel.

At that day shall a man look to his Maker, and his eyes shall have respect to the Holy One of Israel.

8 E não attentará para os altares, obra das suas mãos, nem tão pouco olhará para o que fizeram seus dedos, nem para os bosques, nem para as imagens do sol.

And he shall not look to the altars, the work of his hands, neither shall respect that which his fingers have made, either the groves, or the images.

9 N'aquelle dia serão as suas cidades fortes como plantas desamparadas, e como os mais altos ramos, os quaes vieram a deixar por causa dos filhos d'Israel, e haverá assolação.

In that day shall his strong cities be as a forsaken bough, and an uppermost branch, which they left because of the children of Israel: and there shall be desolation.

10 Porquanto te esqueceste do Deus da tua salvação, e não te lembraste da rocha da tua fortaleza: pelo que bem plantarás plantas formosas, e as cercarás de sarmentos estranhos.

Because you have forgotten the God of your salvation, and have not been mindful of the rock of your strength, therefore shall you plant pleasant plants, and shall set it with strange slips:

11 E no dia em que as plantares as farás crescer, e pela manhã farás que a tua semente brote: porém sómente será um montão do segado no dia da enfermidade e das dôres insoffriveis.

In the day shall you make your plant to grow, and in the morning shall you make your seed to flourish: but the harvest shall be a heap in the day of grief and of desperate sorrow.

12 Ai da multidão dos grandes povos que bramam como bramem os mares, e do rugido das nações que rugem como rugem as impetuosas aguas.

Woe to the multitude of many people, which make a noise like the noise of the seas; and to the rushing of nations, that make a rushing like the rushing of mighty waters!

13 Bem rugirão as nações, como rugem as muitas aguas, porém reprehendel-o-ha e fugirá para longe; e será afugentado como a pragana dos montes diante do vento, e como a bola diante do tufão

The nations shall rush like the rushing of many waters: but God shall rebuke them, and they shall flee far off, and shall be chased as the chaff of the mountains before the wind, and like a rolling thing before the whirlwind.

14 No tempo da tarde eis que ha pavor, mas antes que amanheça já não apparece: esta é a parte d'aquelles que nos despojam, e a sorte d'aquelles que nos saqueiam.

And behold at evening-time trouble; and before the morning he is not. This is the portion of them that spoil us, and the lot of them that rob us.
