Esdras 10
1 E orando Esdras assim, e fazendo esta confissão, chorando, e prostrando-se diante da casa de Deus, ajuntou-se a elle d'Israel uma mui grande congregação, de homens e de mulheres, e de crianças; porque o povo chorava com grande choro.
Now when Ezra had prayed, and when he had confessed, weeping and casting himself down before the house of God, there assembled to him out of Israel a very great congregation of men and women and children: for the people wept very sore.
2 Então respondeu Sechanias, filho de Jehiel, um dos filhos de Elam, e disse a Esdras: Nós temos transgredido contra o nosso Deus, e casámos com mulheres estranhas do povo da terra, mas, no tocante a isto, ainda ha esperança para Israel.
And Shechaniah the son of Jehiel, one of the sons of Elam, answered and said to Ezra, We have trespassed against our God, and have taken strange wives of the people of the land: yet now there is hope in Israel concerning this thing.
3 Agora pois façamos concerto com o nosso Deus de que despediremos todas as mulheres, e tudo o que é nascido d'ellas, conforme ao conselho do Senhor, e dos que tremem ao mandado do nosso Deus; e faça-se conforme a lei.
Now therefore let us make a covenant with our God to put away all the wives, and such as are born of them, according to the counsel of my lord, and of those that tremble at the commandment of our God; and let it be done according to the law.
4 Levanta-te, pois, porque te pertence este negocio, e nós seremos comtigo; esforça-te, e obra.
Arise; for this matter belongs to you: we also will be with you: be of good courage, and do it.
5 Então Esdras se levantou, e ajuramentou os maioraes dos sacerdotes e dos levitas, e a todo o Israel, de que fariam conforme a esta palavra, e juraram.
Then arose Ezra, and made the chief priests, the Levites, and all Israel, to swear that they should do according to this word. And they swore.
6 E Esdras se levantou de diante da casa de Deus, e entrou na camara de Johanan, filho de Eliasib: e, vindo lá, pão não comeu, e agua não bebeu; porque estava annojado pela transgressão dos do captiveiro.
Then Ezra rose up from before the house of God, and went into the chamber of Johanan the son of Eliashib: and when he came thither, he did eat no bread, nor drink water: for he mourned because of the transgression of them that had been carried away.
7 E fizeram passar pregão por Judah e Jerusalem, e todos os que vieram do captiveiro, para que se ajuntassem em Jerusalem.
And they made proclamation throughout Judah and Jerusalem to all the children of the captivity, that they should gather themselves together to Jerusalem;
8 E que todo aquelle que em tres dias não viesse, segundo o conselho dos principes e dos anciãos, toda a sua fazenda se poria em interdicto, e elle seria separado da congregação dos do captiveiro.
And that whoever would not come within three days, according to the counsel of the princes and the elders, all his substance should be forfeited, and himself separated from the congregation of those that had been carried away.
9 Então todos os homens de Judah e Benjamin em tres dias se ajuntaram em Jerusalem: era o nono mez, no dia vinte do mez: e todo o povo se assentou na praça da casa de Deus, tremendo por este negocio e por causa das grandes chuvas.
Then all the men of Judah and Benjamin gathered themselves together to Jerusalem within three days. It was the ninth month, on the twentieth day of the month; and all the people sat in the street of the house of God, trembling because of this matter, and for the great rain.
10 Então se levantou Esdras, o sacerdote, e disse-lhes: Vós tendes transgredido, e casastes com mulheres estranhas, multiplicando o delicto d'Israel.
And Ezra the priest stood up, and said to them, You have transgressed, and have taken strange wives, to increase the trespass of Israel.
11 Agora pois fazei confissão ao Senhor Deus de vossos paes; e fazei a sua vontade; e apartae-vos dos povos das terras, e das mulheres estranhas.
Now therefore make confession to the LORD God of your fathers, and do his pleasure: and separate yourselves from the people of the land, and from the strange wives.
12 E respondeu toda a congregação, e disseram em altas vozes: Assim seja, conforme ás tuas palavras nos convem fazer.
Then all the congregation answered and said with a loud voice, As you have said, so must we do.
13 Porém o povo é muito, e tambem é tempo de grandes chuvas, e não se pode estar aqui fóra: nem é obra d'um dia nem de dois, porque somos muitos os que transgredimos n'este negocio.
But the people are many, and it is a time of much rain, and we are not able to stand without, neither is this a work of one day or two: for we are many that have transgressed in this thing.
14 Ora ponham-se os nossos principes, por toda a congregação sobre este negocio; e todos os que em nossas cidades casaram com mulheres estranhas venham em tempos apontados, e com elles os anciãos de cada cidade, e os seus juizes, até que desviemos de nós o ardor da ira do nosso Deus, por esta causa.
Let now our rulers of all the congregation stand, and let all them which have taken strange wives in our cities come at appointed times, and with them the elders of every city, and the judges thereof, until the fierce wrath of our God for this matter be turned from us.
15 Porém sómente Jonathan, filho d'Asael, e Jehazias, filho de Tikva, se pozeram sobre este negocio: e Mesullam, e Sabbethai, levita, os ajudaram.
Only Jonathan the son of Asahel and Jahaziah the son of Tikvah were employed about this matter: and Meshullam and Shabbethai the Levite helped them.
16 E assim o fizeram os que tornaram do captiveiro: e apartaram-se o sacerdote Esdras e os homens, cabeças dos paes, segundo a casa de seus paes, e todos pelos seus nomes; e assentaram-se no primeiro dia do decimo mez, para inquirirem n'este negocio.
And the children of the captivity did so. And Ezra the priest, with certain chief of the fathers, after the house of their fathers, and all of them by their names, were separated, and sat down in the first day of the tenth month to examine the matter.
17 E acabaram-n'o com todos os homens que casaram com mulheres estranhas, até ao primeiro dia do primeiro mez.
And they made an end with all the men that had taken strange wives by the first day of the first month.
18 E acharam-se dos filhos dos sacerdotes que casaram com mulheres estranhas: dos filhos de Josué, filho de Josadak, e seus irmãos, Maaseias, e Eliezer, e Jarib, e Gadalias.
And among the sons of the priests there were found that had taken strange wives: namely, of the sons of Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and his brothers; Maaseiah, and Eliezer, and Jarib, and Gedaliah.
19 E deram a sua mão de que despediriam suas mulheres: e, achando-se culpados, offereceram um carneiro do rebanho pelo seu delicto.
And they gave their hands that they would put away their wives; and being guilty, they offered a ram of the flock for their trespass.
20 E dos filhos d'Immer: Hanani, e Zabadias.
And of the sons of Immer; Hanani, and Zebadiah.
21 E dos filhos d'Harim: Maaseias, e Elias, e Semaias, e Jehiel, e Uzias.
And of the sons of Harim; Maaseiah, and Elijah, and Shemaiah, and Jehiel, and Uzziah.
22 E dos filhos de Pashur: Elioenai, Maseias, Ishmael, Nathanel, Jozabad, e Elasa.
And of the sons of Pashur; Elioenai, Maaseiah, Ishmael, Nethaneel, Jozabad, and Elasah.
23 E dos levitas: Jozabad, e Simei, e Kelaias (este é Kelitas), Pethahias, Judah, e Eliezer.
Also of the Levites; Jozabad, and Shimei, and Kelaiah, (the same is Kelita, ) Pethahiah, Judah, and Eliezer.
24 E dos cantores: Eliasib: e dos porteiros: Sallum, e Telem, e Uri.
Of the singers also; Eliashib: and of the porters; Shallum, and Telem, and Uri.
25 E d'Israel, dos filhos de Paros: Ramias, e Jezias, e Malchias, e Miamin, e Eleazer, e Malchias, e Benaias.
Moreover of Israel: of the sons of Parosh; Ramiah, and Jeziah, and Malchiah, and Miamin, and Eleazar, and Malchijah, and Benaiah.
26 E dos filhos d'Elam: Matthanias, Zacharias, e Jehiel, e Abdi, e Jeremoth, e Elias.
And of the sons of Elam; Mattaniah, Zechariah, and Jehiel, and Abdi, and Jeremoth, and Eliah.
27 E dos filhos de Zattu: Elioenai Eliasib, Matthanias, e Jeremoth, e Zabad, e Aziza.
And of the sons of Zattu; Elioenai, Eliashib, Mattaniah, and Jeremoth, and Zabad, and Aziza.
28 E dos filhos de Bebai: Johanan, Hananias, Zabbai, Athlai.
Of the sons also of Bebai; Jehohanan, Hananiah, Zabbai, and Athlai.
29 E dos filhos de Bani: Mesullam, Malluch, e Adaias, Jasub, e Seal, Jeremoth.
And of the sons of Bani; Meshullam, Malluch, and Adaiah, Jashub, and Sheal, and Ramoth.
30 E dos filhos de Pahath-moab: Adna, e Chelal, Benaias, Maseias, Matthanias, Besaleel, e Binnui, e Manasseh.
And of the sons of Pahathmoab; Adna, and Chelal, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattaniah, Bezaleel, and Binnui, and Manasseh.
31 E dos filhos d'Harim: Eliezer, Jesias, Malchias, Semaias, Simeão,
And of the sons of Harim; Eliezer, Ishijah, Malchiah, Shemaiah, Shimeon,
32 Benjamin, Malluch, Semarias.
Benjamin, Malluch, and Shemariah.
33 Dos filhos d'Hasum: Mathnai, Matthattha, Zabad, Eliphelet, Jeremai, Manasseh, Simei.
Of the sons of Hashum; Mattenai, Mattathah, Zabad, Eliphelet, Jeremai, Manasseh, and Shimei.
34 Dos filhos de Bani: Maadai, Amram, e Uel,
Of the sons of Bani; Maadai, Amram, and Uel,
35 Benaias, Bedias, Cheluhi,
Benaiah, Bedeiah, Chelluh,
36 Vanias, Meremoth, Eliasib,
Vaniah, Meremoth, Eliashib,
37 Matthanias, Mathnai, e Jaasai,
Mattaniah, Mattenai, and Jaasau,
38 E Bani, e Binnui, Simei,
And Bani, and Binnui, Shimei,
39 E Selemias, e Nathan, e Adaias,
And Shelemiah, and Nathan, and Adaiah,
40 Machnadbai, Sasai, Sarai,
Machnadebai, Shashai, Sharai,
41 Azareel, e Selemias, Semarias,
Azareel, and Shelemiah, Shemariah,
42 Sallum, Amarias, José.
Shallum, Amariah, and Joseph.
43 Dos filhos de Nebo: Jeiel, Mattithias, Zabad, Zebina, Jaddai, Joel, e Benaias.
Of the sons of Nebo; Jeiel, Mattithiah, Zabad, Zebina, Jadau, and Joel, Benaiah.
44 Todos estes tomaram mulheres estranhas: e alguns d'elles tinham mulheres de quem alcançaram filhos.
All these had taken strange wives: and some of them had wives by whom they had children.
