Deuteronômio 17

1 Não sacrificarás ao Senhor teu Deus, boi ou gado miudo em que haja defeito ou alguma coisa má; pois abominação é ao Senhor teu Deus.

You shall not sacrifice unto the LORD your God any bullock, or sheep, wherein is blemish, or any evil thing: for that is an abomination unto the LORD your God.

2 Quando no meio de ti, em alguma das tuas portas que te dá o Senhor teu Deus, se achar algum homem ou mulher que fizer mal aos olhos do Senhor teu Deus, traspassando o seu concerto,

If there be found among you, within any of your gates which the LORD your God gives you, man or woman, that has wrought wickedness in the sight of the LORD your God, in transgressing his covenant,

3 Que se fôr, e servir a outros deuses, e se encurvar a elles, ou ao sol, ou á lua, ou a todo o exercito do céu; o que eu não ordenei;

And has gone and served other gods, and worshipped them, either the sun, or moon, or any of the host of heaven, which I have not commanded;

4 E te fôr denunciado, e o ouvires; então bem o inquirirás: e eis que, sendo verdade, e certo que se fez tal abominação em Israel.

And it be told you, and you have heard of it, and enquired diligently, and, behold, it be true, and the thing certain, that such abomination is wrought in Israel:

5 Então tirarás o homem ou a mulher que fez este maleficio, ás tuas portas, sim, o tal homem ou mulher: e os apedrejarás com pedras, até que morram.

Then shall you bring forth that man or that woman, which have committed that wicked thing, unto your gates, even that man or that woman, and shall stone them with stones, till they die.

6 Por bocca de duas testemunhas, ou tres testemunhas, será morto o que houver de morrer: por bocca d'uma só testemunha não morrerá.

At the mouth of two witnesses, or three witnesses, shall he that is worthy of death be put to death; but at the mouth of one witness he shall not be put to death.

7 A mão das testemunhas será primeiro contra elle, para matal-o; e depois a mão de todo o povo: assim tirarás o mal do meio de ti.

The hands of the witnesses shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterward the hands of all the people. So you shall put the evil away from among you.

8 Quando alguma coisa te fôr difficultosa em juizo, entre sangue e sangue, entre demanda e demanda, entre ferida e ferida, em negocios de pendencias nas tuas portas, então te levantarás, e subirás ao logar que escolher o Senhor teu Deus;

If there arise a matter too hard for you in judgment, between blood and blood, between plea and plea, and between stroke and stroke, being matters of controversy within your gates: then shall you arise, and get you up into the place which the LORD your God shall choose;

9 E virás aos sacerdotes levitas, e ao juiz que houver n'aquelles dias, e inquirirás, e te annunciarão a palavra que fôr do juizo.

And you shall come unto the priests the Levites, and unto the judge that shall be in those days, and enquire; and they shall show you the sentence of judgment:

10 E farás conforme ao mandado da palavra que te annunciarão do logar que escolher o Senhor; e terás cuidado de fazer conforme a tudo o que te ensinarem.

And you shall do according to the sentence, which they of that place which the LORD shall choose shall show you; and you shall observe to do according to all that they inform you:

11 Conforme ao mandado da lei que te ensinarem, e conforme ao juizo que te disserem, farás: da palavra que te annunciarem te não desviarás, nem para a direita nem para a esquerda.

According to the sentence of the law which they shall teach you, and according to the judgment which they shall tell you, you shall do: you shall not decline from the sentence which they shall show you, to the right hand, nor to the left.

12 O homem pois que se houver soberbamente, não dando ouvidos ao sacerdote, que está ali para servir ao Senhor teu Deus, nem ao juiz, o tal homem morrerá: e tirarás o mal de Israel:

And the man that will do presumptuously, and will not hearken unto the priest that stands to minister there before the LORD your God, or unto the judge, even that man shall die: and you shall put away the evil from Israel.

13 Para que todo o povo o ouça, e tema, e nunca mais se ensoberbeça.

And all the people shall hear, and fear, and do no more presumptuously.

14 Quando entrares na terra, que te dá o Senhor teu Deus, e a possuires, e n'ella habitares, e disseres: Porei sobre mim um rei, assim como teem todas as gentes que estão em redor de mim:

When you are come unto the land which the LORD your God gives you, and shall possess it, and shall dwell therein, and shall say, I will set a king over me, like all the nations that are about me;

15 Porás certamente sobre ti como rei aquelle que escolher o Senhor teu Deus: d'entre teus irmãos porás rei sobre ti: não poderás pôr homem estranho sobre ti, que não seja de teus irmãos

You shall in any way set him king over you, whom the LORD your God shall choose: one from among your brethren shall you set king over you: you may not set a stranger over you, which is not your brother.

16 Porém não multiplicará para si cavallos, nem fará voltar o povo ao Egypto, para multiplicar cavallos; pois o Senhor vos tem dito: Nunca mais voltareis por este caminho.

But he shall not multiply horses to himself, nor cause the people to return to Egypt, to the end that he should multiply horses: forasmuch as the LORD has said unto you, All of you shall henceforth return no more that way.

17 Tão pouco para si multiplicará mulheres, para que o seu coração se não desvie: nem prata nem oiro multiplicará muito para si.

Neither shall he multiply wives to himself, that his heart turn not away: neither shall he greatly multiply to himself silver and gold.

18 Será tambem que, quando se assentar sobre o throno do seu reino, então escreverá para si um traslado d'esta lei n'um livro, do que está diante dos sacerdotes levitas.

And it shall be, when he sits upon the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write him a copy of this law in a book out of that which is before the priests the Levites:

19 E o terá comsigo, e n'elle lerá todos os dias da sua vida; para que aprenda a temer ao Senhor seu Deus, para guardar todas as palavras d'esta lei, e estes estatutos, para fazel-os;

And it shall be with him, and he shall read therein all the days of his life: that he may learn to fear the LORD his God, to keep all the words of this law and these statutes, to do them:

20 Para que o seu coração não se levante sobre os seus irmãos, e não se aparte do mandamento, nem para a direita nem para a esquerda: para que prolongue os dias no seu reino, elle e seus filhos no meio de Israel.

That his heart be not lifted up above his brethren, and that he turn not aside from the commandment, to the right hand, or to the left: to the end that he may prolong his days in his kingdom, he, and his children, in the midst of Israel.
