2 Reis 7

1 Então disse Eliseo: Ouvi a palavra do Senhor: assim diz o Senhor: Ámanhã, quasi a este tempo, uma medida de farinha haverá por um siclo, e duas medidas de cevada por um siclo, á porta de Samaria.

Elisha said, "Hear the word of the LORD. Thus says the LORD, 'Tomorrow about this time a measure of fine flour will be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria.'"

2 Porém um capitão, em cuja mão o rei se encostava, respondeu ao homem de Deus e disse: Eis que ainda que o Senhor fizesse janellas no céu, poder-se-hia fazer isso? E elle disse: Eis que o verás com os teus olhos, porém d'ahi não comerás.

Then the captain on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said, "Look, if the LORD made windows in heaven, could this thing be?" He said, "Look, you shall see it with your eyes, but shall not eat of it."

3 E quatro homens leprosos estavam á entrada da porta, os quaes disseram uns aos outros: Para que estaremos nós aqui até morrermos?

Now there were four leprous men at the entrance of the gate. And they said to one another, "Why do we sit here until we die?

4 Se dissermos: Entremos na cidade, ha fome na cidade, e morreremos ahi; e se ficarmos aqui, tambem morreremos: vamos nós pois agora, e demos comnosco no arraial dos syros: se nos deixarem viver, viveremos, e se nos matarem, tão sómente morreremos.

If we say, 'We will enter into the city,' then the famine is in the city, and we shall die there. If we sit still here, we also die. Now therefore come, and let us surrender to the army of the Arameans. If they save us alive, we will live; and if they kill us, we will only die."

5 E levantaram-se ao crepusculo, para se irem ao arraial dos syros: e, chegando á entrada do arraial dos syros, eis que não havia ali ninguem.

They rose up in the twilight, to go to the camp of the Arameans. When they had come to the outermost part of the camp of the Arameans, look, there was no man there.

6 Porque o Senhor fizera ouvir no arraial dos syros ruido de carros e ruido de cavallos, como o ruido d'um grande exercito; de maneira que disseram uns aos outros: Eis que o rei d'Israel alugou contra nós os reis dos hetheos e os reis dos egypcios, para virem contra nós.

For the LORD had made the army of the Arameans to hear a noise of chariots, and a noise of horses, even the noise of a great army: and they said one to another, Look, the king of Israel has hired against us the kings of the Hittites, and the kings of the Egyptians, to come on us.

7 Pelo que se levantaram, e fugiram no crepusculo, e deixaram as suas tendas, e os seus cavallos, e os seus jumentos, e o arraial como estava: e fugiram para salvarem a sua vida.

Therefore they arose and fled in the twilight, and left their tents, and their horses, and their donkeys, even the camp as it was, and fled for their life.

8 Chegando pois estes leprosos á entrada do arraial, entraram n'uma tenda, e comeram e beberam e tomaram d'ali prata, e oiro, e vestidos, e foram e os esconderam: então voltaram, e entraram em outra tenda, e d'ali tambem tomaram, e o esconderam.

When these lepers came to the outermost part of the camp, they went into one tent, and ate and drink, and carried there silver, and gold, and clothing, and went and hid it. Then they came back, and entered into another tent, and carried there also, and went and hid it.

9 Então disseram uns para os outros: Não fazemos bem: este dia é dia de boas novas, e nos calamos; se esperarmos até á luz da manhã, algum mal nos sobrevirá; pelo que agora vamos, e o annunciemos á casa do rei.

Then they said one to another, "We aren't doing right. This day is a day of good news, and we keep silent. If we wait until the morning light, punishment will overtake us. Now therefore come, let us go and tell the king's household."

10 Vieram pois, e bradaram aos porteiros da cidade, e lhes annunciaram, dizendo: Fomos ao arraial dos syros e eis que lá não havia ninguem, nem voz de homem, porém só cavallos atados, e jumentos atados, e as tendas como estavam d'antes.

So they came and called to the gatekeepers of the city; and they told them, saying, "We came to the camp of the Arameans, and, look, there was no man there, neither voice of man, but the horses tied, and the donkeys tied, and the tents as they were."

11 E chamaram os porteiros, e o annunciaram dentro da casa do rei.

The gatekeepers called out, and it was reported to the king's household within.

12 E o rei se levantou de noite, e disse a seus servos: Agora vos farei saber o que é que os syros nos fizeram: bem sabem elles que esfaimados estamos, pelo que sairam do arraial, a esconder-se pelo campo, dizendo: Quando sairem da cidade, então os tomaremos vivos, e entraremos na cidade.

The king arose in the night, and said to his servants, "I will now show you what the Arameans have done to us. They know that we are hungry. Therefore are they gone out of the camp to hide themselves in the field, saying, 'When they come out of the city, we shall take them alive, and get into the city.'"

13 Então um dos seus servos respondeu e disse: Tomem-se pois cinco dos cavallos do resto que ficaram aqui dentro (eis que são como toda a multidão dos israelitas que ficaram aqui de resto, e eis que são como toda a multidão dos israelitas que já pereceram) e enviemol-os, e vejamos.

And one of his servants answered, "Please let some take five of the horses that remain, which are left in the city. Look, they are like the whole multitude of Israel who have already perished. Let us send and see."

14 Tomaram pois dois cavallos de carro; e o rei os enviou após o exercito dos syros, dizendo: Ide, e vêde.

They took therefore two chariots with horses; and the king sent after the army of the Arameans, saying, "Go and see."

15 E foram após elles até ao Jordão, e eis que todo o caminho estava cheio de vestidos e de aviamentos, que os syros, apressando-se, lançaram fóra: e voltaram os mensageiros, e o annunciaram ao rei:

They went after them to the Jordan; and look, all the way was full of garments and vessels, which the Arameans had cast away in their haste. The messengers returned, and told the king.

16 Então saiu o povo, e saqueou o arraial dos syros: e havia uma medida de farinha por um siclo, e duas medidas de cevada por um siclo, conforme a palavra do Senhor.

The people went out, and plundered the camp of the Arameans. So a measure of fine flour was sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, according to the word of the LORD.

17 E pozera o rei á porta o capitão em cuja mão se encostava; e o povo o atropellou na porta, e morreu, como fallara o homem de Deus, o que fallou quando o rei descera a elle.

The king appointed the captain on whose hand he leaned to be in charge of the gate: and the people trod on him in the gate, and he died as the man of God had said, who spoke when the king came down to him.

18 Porque assim succedeu como o homem de Deus fallara ao rei dizendo: Ámanhã, quasi a este tempo, haverá duas medidas de cevada por um siclo, e uma medida de farinha por um siclo, á porta de Samaria.

It happened, as the man of God had spoken to the king, saying, "Two measures of barley for a shekel, and a measure of fine flour for a shekel, shall be tomorrow about this time in the gate of Samaria";

19 E aquelle capitão respondeu ao homem de Deus, e disse: Eis que ainda que o Senhor fizesse janellas no céu, poder-se-hia isso fazer conforme essa palavra? E elle disse: Eis que o verás com os teus olhos, porém d'ahi não comerás.

and that captain answered the man of God, and said, "Now, look, if the LORD should make windows in heaven, might such a thing be?" and he said, "Look, you shall see it with your eyes, but shall not eat of it."

20 E assim lhe succedeu, porque o povo o atropellou á porta, e morreu.

It happened like that to him; for the people trod on him in the gate, and he died.
