1 Samuel 29

1 E ajuntaram os philisteos todos os seus exercitos em Aphek: e acamparam-se os israelitas junto á fonte que está em Jizreel.

Now the Philistines gathered together all their armies to Aphek: and the Israelites camped by the spring which is in Jezreel.

2 E os principes dos philisteos se foram para lá com centenas e com milhares: porém David e os seus homens iam com Achis na rectaguarda.

The lords of the Philistines passed on by hundreds, and by thousands; and David and his men passed on in the rear with Achish.

3 Disseram então os principes dos philisteos: Que fazem aqui estes hebreos? E disse Achis aos principes dos philisteos: Não é este David, o creado de Saul, rei de Israel, que esteve comigo ha alguns dias ou annos? e coisa nenhuma achei n'elle desde o dia em que se revoltou, até ao dia d'hoje.

Then the leaders of the Philistines said, "What about these Hebrews?" And Achish said to the leaders of the Philistines, "Isn't this David, the servant of Saul the king of Israel, who has been with me these days, or rather these years, and I have found no fault in him since he defected to me until this day?"

4 Porém os principes dos philisteus muito se indignaram contra elle; e disseram-lhe os principes dos philisteus: Faze voltar a este homem, e torne ao seu logar em que tu o pozeste, e não desça comnosco á batalha, para que não se nos torne na batalha em adversario: porque com que aplacaria este a seu senhor? porventura não seria com as cabeças d'estes homens

But the leaders of the Philistines were angry with him; and the leaders of the Philistines said to him, "Make the man return, that he may go back to his place where you have appointed him, and let him not go down with us to battle, lest in the battle he become an adversary to us. For with what should this fellow reconcile himself to his lord? Should it not be with the heads of these men?

5 Não é este aquelle David, de quem uns aos outros respondiam nas danças, dizendo: Saul feriu os seus milhares, porém David as suas dezenas de milhares?

Is not this David, of whom they sang one to another in dances, saying, 'Saul has slain his thousands, David his ten thousands?'"

6 Então Achis chamou a David e disse-lhe: Vive o Senhor, que tu és recto, e que a tua entrada e a tua saida comigo no arraial é boa aos meus olhos; porque nenhum mal em ti achei, desde o dia em que a mim vieste, até ao dia d'hoje; porém aos olhos dos principes não agradas.

Then Achish called David, and said to him, "As the LORD lives, you have been upright, and your going out and your coming in with me in the army is good in my sight; for I have not found evil in you since the day of your coming to me to this day. Nevertheless, the lords do not favor you.

7 Volta pois agora, e volta em paz: para que não faças mal aos olhos dos principes dos philisteos.

Therefore now return, and go in peace, that you not displease the lords of the Philistines."

8 Então David disse a Achis: Porque? que fiz? ou que achaste no teu servo, desde o dia em que estive diante de ti, até ao dia d'hoje, para que não vá e peleje contra os inimigos do rei meu senhor?

David said to Achish, "But what have I done? What have you found in your servant so long as I have been before you to this day, that I may not go and fight against the enemies of my lord the king?"

9 Respondeu porém Achis, e disse a David: Bem o sei; e que na verdade aos meus olhos és bom como um anjo de Deus: porém disseram os principes dos philisteos: Não suba este comnosco á batalha.

Achish answered David, "I know that you are good in my sight, as an angel of God. Nevertheless the leaders of the Philistines have said, 'He shall not go up with us to the battle.'

10 Agora pois ámanhã de madrugada levanta-te com os creados de teu senhor, que teem vindo comtigo: e, levantando-vos pela manhã de madrugada, e havendo luz, parti.

Therefore now rise up early in the morning, you and the servants of your lord who have come with you, and go to the place which I allotted to you. As for evil remarks, take none to heart; for you are good in my sight. And as soon as you are up early in the morning, and have light, depart."

11 Então David de madrugada se levantou, elle e os seus homens, para partirem pela manhã, e voltarem á terra dos philisteos: e os philisteos subiram a Jizreel.

So David rose up early, he and his men, to depart in the morning, to return into the land of the Philistines. The Philistines went up to Jezreel.
