Psalmów 39
1 Przewodnikowi chóru, Jedutunowi. Psalm Dawida. Powiedziałem: Będę strzegł moich dróg, abym nie zgrzeszył językiem; nałożę na usta wędzidło, dopóki niegodziwy [będzie] przede mną.
To the chief Musician, to Jeduthun. A Psalm of David. I said, I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a muzzle, while the wicked is before me.
2 Zaniemówiłem oniemiały, zamilkłem [nawet] w dobrej [sprawie], lecz moja boleść się wzmagała.
I was dumb with silence, I held my peace from good; and my sorrow was stirred.
3 Rozgorzało we mnie serce; gdy rozmyślałem, zapłonął ogień, a [wtedy] mój język tak przemówił:
My heart burned within me; the fire was kindled in my musing: I spoke with my tongue,
4 PANIE, daj mi poznać mój kres i miarę moich dni, abym wiedział, jak jestem słaby.
Make me to know, Jehovah, mine end, and the measure of my days, what it is: I shall know how frail I am.
5 Oto wymierzyłeś moje dni na szerokość dłoni, a mój wiek jest niczym przed tobą; zaprawdę każdy człowiek, nawet najlepszy, jest całkowitą marnością. (Sela)
Behold, thou hast made my days [as] hand-breadths, and my lifetime is as nothing before thee; verily, every man, [even] the high placed, is altogether vanity. (Selah)
6 Doprawdy człowiek przemija jak cień; doprawdy na próżno się kłopocze; gromadzi, a nie wie, kto to zabierze.
Verily, man walketh in a vain show; verily they are disquieted in vain; he heapeth up [riches], and knoweth not who shall gather them.
7 A teraz czego mam oczekiwać, Panie? W tobie jest moja nadzieja.
And now, what wait I for, Lord? my hope is in thee.
8 Uwolnij mnie od wszystkich moich występków, nie wystawiaj mnie na pośmiewisko głupca.
Deliver me from all my transgressions; make me not the reproach of the foolish.
9 Zamilkłem i nie otworzyłem moich ust, bo ty [to] sprawiłeś.
I was dumb, I opened not my mouth; for thou hast done [it].
10 Oddal ode mnie twoje karanie, bo ginę od uderzeń twojej ręki.
Remove thy stroke away from me: I am consumed by the blow of thy hand.
11 Gdy karą chłoszczesz człowieka za nieprawość, [to] jak mól niszczysz jego piękno; doprawdy marnością jest każdy człowiek. (Sela)
When thou with rebukes dost correct a man for iniquity, thou makest his beauty to consume away like a moth: surely, every man is vanity. (Selah)
12 Wysłuchaj mojej modlitwy, PANIE, i nakłoń ucha na moje wołanie; nie bądź głuchy na moje łzy, bo jestem gościem u ciebie [i] przychodniem, jak wszyscy moi ojcowie.
Hear my prayer, Jehovah, and give ear unto my cry; be not silent at my tears: for I am a stranger with thee, a sojourner, like all my fathers.
13 Oszczędzaj mnie, abym się wzmacniał, zanim odejdę i już mnie nie będzie.
Look away from me, and let me recover strength, before I go hence and be no more.
