Przysłów 2

1 Synu mój, jeśli przyjmiesz moje słowa i zachowasz u siebie moje przykazania;

My son, if thou wilt receive my words, And lay up my commandments with thee;

2 Nadstawiając swego ucha na mądrość i nakłaniając swe serce ku rozumowi;

So as to incline thine ear unto wisdom, And apply thy heart to understanding;

3 Tak, jeśli przywołasz roztropność i swoim głosem wezwiesz rozum;

Yea, if thou cry after discernment, And lift up thy voice for understanding;

4 Jeśli będziesz jej szukać jak srebra i poszukiwać jej jak ukrytych skarbów;

If thou seek her as silver, And search for her as for hid treasures:

5 Wtedy zrozumiesz bojaźń PANA i dojdziesz do poznania Boga.

Then shalt thou understand the fear of Jehovah, And find the knowledge of God.

6 PAN bowiem daje mądrość, z jego ust [pochodzi] wiedza i rozum.

For Jehovah giveth wisdom; Out of his mouth [cometh] knowledge and understanding:

7 On [zachowuje] prawdziwą mądrość dla prawych; [on jest] tarczą dla tych, którzy postępują uczciwie;

He layeth up sound wisdom for the upright; [He is] a shield to them that walk in integrity;

8 Strzeże ścieżek sądu i chroni drogę swoich świętych.

That he may guard the paths of justice, And preserve the way of his saints.

9 Wtedy zrozumiesz sprawiedliwość, sąd, prawość i wszelką dobrą ścieżkę.

Then shalt thou understand righteousness and justice, And equity, [yea], every good path.

10 Gdy mądrość wejdzie do twojego serca i wiedza będzie miła twojej duszy;

For wisdom shall enter into thy heart, And knowledge shall be pleasant unto thy soul;

11 [Wtedy] rozwaga będzie cię strzegła i rozum cię zachowa.

Discretion shall watch over thee; Understanding shall keep thee:

12 By uwolnić cię od złej drogi [i] od człowieka, który mówi przewrotnie;

To deliver thee from the way of evil, From the men that speak perverse things;

13 [Od tych], którzy opuszczają ścieżki prawości, żeby chodzić drogami ciemności;

Who forsake the paths of uprightness, To walk in the ways of darkness;

14 [Którzy] się radują, gdy czynią zło, a cieszą się w złośliwej przewrotności;

Who rejoice to do evil, And delight in the perverseness of evil;

15 Których ścieżki są kręte i [sami] są przewrotni na swoich drogach;

Who are crooked in their ways, And wayward in their paths:

16 Aby cię uwolnić od cudzej kobiety, od obcej, która pochlebia łagodnymi słowami;

To deliver thee from the strange woman, Even from the foreigner that flattereth with her words;

17 Która opuszcza przewodnika swojej młodości i zapomina o przymierzu swojego Boga;

That forsaketh the friend of her youth, And forgetteth the covenant of her God:

18 Bo jej dom chyli się ku śmierci, a jej ścieżki ku umarłym;

For her house inclineth unto death, And her paths unto the dead;

19 Nikt z tych, którzy do niej wchodzą, nie wraca ani nie trafia na ścieżkę życia;

None that go unto her return again, Neither do they attain unto the paths of life:

20 Abyś chodził drogą dobrych i przestrzegał ścieżek sprawiedliwych.

That thou mayest walk in the way of good men, And keep the paths of the righteous.

21 Prawi bowiem będą mieszkali na ziemi i nienaganni na niej pozostaną;

For the upright shall dwell in the land, And the perfect shall remain in it.

22 Ale niegodziwi będą wykorzenieni z ziemi i przewrotni będą z niej wyrwani.

But the wicked shall be cut off from the land, And the treacherous shall be rooted out of it.
