Mateusza 14
1 W tym czasie tetrarcha Herod usłyszał wieść o Jezusie.
At that time, Herod the tetrarch heard the report concerning Yeshua,
2 I powiedział swoim sługom: To jest Jan Chrzciciel. On zmartwychwstał i dlatego cuda dokonują się przez niego.
and said to his servants, “This is Yochanan the Immerser. He is risen from the dead. That is why these powers work in him.”
3 Herod bowiem schwytał Jana, związał go i wtrącił do więzienia z powodu Herodiady, żony swego brata Filipa.
For Herod had arrested Yochanan, bound him, and put him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife.
4 Bo Jan mówił mu: Nie wolno ci jej mieć.
For Yochanan said to him, “It is not lawful for you to have her.”
5 I chciał go zabić, ale bał się ludu, bo uważano go za proroka.
When he would have put him to death, he feared the multitude, because they counted him as a prophet.
6 A gdy obchodzono dzień urodzin Heroda, córka Herodiady tańczyła wśród [gości] i spodobała się Herodowi.
But when Herod’s birthday came, the daughter of Herodias danced amongst them and pleased Herod.
7 Dlatego pod przysięgą obiecał jej dać, o cokolwiek poprosi.
Therefore he promised with an oath to give her whatever she should ask.
8 A ona, namówiona przedtem przez swoją matkę, powiedziała: Daj mi tu na misie głowę Jana Chrzciciela.
She, being prompted by her mother, said, “Give me here on a platter the head of Yochanan the Immerser.”
9 I zasmucił się król, ale ze względu na przysięgę i współbiesiadników kazał [jej] dać.
The king was grieved, but for the sake of his oaths and of those who sat at the table with him, he commanded it to be given,
10 A posławszy [kata], ściął Jana w więzieniu.
and he sent and beheaded Yochanan in the prison.
11 I przyniesiono jego głowę na misie, i dano dziewczynie, a ona zaniosła ją swojej matce.
His head was brought on a platter and given to the young lady; and she brought it to her mother.
12 Potem przyszli jego uczniowie, zabrali ciało i pogrzebali je, a poszedłszy, powiedzieli [o tym] Jezusowi.
His disciples came, took the body, and buried it. Then they went and told Yeshua.
13 A Jezus, usłyszawszy to, oddalił się stamtąd łodzią na miejsce odludne, [żeby być] na osobności. Kiedy ludzie o tym usłyszeli, pieszo poszli za nim z miast.
Now when Yeshua heard this, he withdrew from there in a boat to a deserted place apart. When the multitudes heard it, they followed him on foot from the cities.
14 Gdy Jezus wyszedł [z łodzi], zobaczył wielki tłum, ulitował się nad nimi i uzdrawiał ich chorych.
Yeshua went out, and he saw a great multitude. He had compassion on them and healed their sick.
15 A gdy nastał wieczór, podeszli do niego jego uczniowie i powiedzieli: Miejsce to jest puste, a pora już późna. Odpraw tych ludzi, aby poszli do wiosek i kupili sobie żywności.
When evening had come, his disciples came to him, saying, “This place is deserted, and the hour is already late. Send the multitudes away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves food.”
16 Lecz Jezus im odpowiedział: Nie muszą odchodzić, wy dajcie im jeść.
But Yeshua said to them, “They don’t need to go away. You give them something to eat.”
17 A oni mu powiedzieli: Nie mamy tu nic prócz pięciu chlebów i dwóch ryb.
They told him, “We only have here five loaves and two fish.”
18 On powiedział: Przynieście mi je tutaj.
He said, “Bring them here to me.”
19 Wtedy nakazał ludziom usiąść na trawie, wziął te pięć chlebów i dwie ryby, a spojrzawszy w niebo, pobłogosławił i łamiąc chleby, dawał uczniom, a uczniowie ludziom.
He commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass; and he took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, broke and gave the loaves to the disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitudes.
20 I jedli wszyscy do syta. I zebrali z pozostałych kawałków dwanaście pełnych koszy.
They all ate and were filled. They took up twelve baskets full of that which remained left over from the broken pieces.
21 A tych, którzy jedli, było około pięciu tysięcy mężczyzn, nie licząc kobiet i dzieci.
Those who ate were about five thousand men, in addition to women and children.
22 Zaraz też Jezus przymusił swoich uczniów, aby wsiedli do łodzi i wyprzedzili go na drugi brzeg, a on tymczasem odprawi tłumy.
Immediately Yeshua made the disciples get into the boat and go ahead of him to the other side, while he sent the multitudes away.
23 A odprawiwszy je, wszedł sam na górę, aby się modlić. A gdy nastał wieczór, [nadal] był tam sam.
After he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into the mountain by himself to pray. When evening had come, he was there alone.
24 Łódź tymczasem była już na środku morza, miotana przez fale, bo wiatr był przeciwny.
But the boat was now in the middle of the sea, distressed by the waves, for the wind was contrary.
25 Lecz o czwartej straży nocnej przyszedł do nich Jezus, idąc po morzu.
In the fourth watch of the night, Yeshua came to them, walking on the sea.
26 A uczniowie, gdy ujrzeli go idącego po morzu, przerazili się i powiedzieli: [To] zjawa! I krzyknęli ze strachu.
When the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It’s a ghost!” and they cried out for fear.
27 Ale Jezus zaraz do nich powiedział: Ufajcie, [to] ja jestem! Nie bójcie się!
But immediately Yeshua spoke to them, saying, “Cheer up! It is I! Don’t be afraid.”
28 Piotr odezwał się do niego: Panie, jeśli to jesteś ty, każ mi przyjść do siebie po wodzie.
Peter answered him and said, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the waters.”
29 A on powiedział: Przyjdź! I Piotr, wyszedłszy z łodzi, szedł po wodzie, aby przyjść do Jezusa.
He said, “Come!” Peter stepped down from the boat and walked on the waters to come to Yeshua.
30 Lecz widząc gwałtowny wiatr, zląkł się, a gdy zaczął tonąć, krzyknął: Panie, ratuj mnie!
But when he saw that the wind was strong, he was afraid, and beginning to sink, he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!”
31 Jezus natychmiast wyciągnął rękę, uchwycił go i powiedział: Człowieku małej wiary, dlaczego zwątpiłeś?
Immediately Yeshua stretched out his hand, took hold of him, and said to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?”
32 A gdy wsiedli do łodzi, wiatr się uciszył.
When they got up into the boat, the wind ceased.
33 Ci zaś, którzy byli w łodzi, podeszli i oddali mu pokłon, mówiąc: Naprawdę jesteś Synem Bożym.
Those who were in the boat came and worshipped him, saying, “You are truly the Son of God!”
34 I przeprawiwszy się, przybyli do ziemi Genezaret.
When they had crossed over, they came to the land of Gennesaret.
35 A ludzie z tamtych okolic, poznawszy go, rozesłali [wiadomość] po całej okolicy i przyniesiono do niego wszystkich chorych.
When the people of that place recognised him, they sent into all that surrounding region and brought to him all who were sick;
36 I prosili go, aby mogli dotknąć tylko brzegu jego szaty, a ci, którzy dotknęli, zostali uzdrowieni.
and they begged him that they might just touch the fringe of his garment. As many as touched it were made whole.
