1 Jeśli powstanie spór między mężczyznami i staną oni przed sądem, by ich sądzono, wtedy usprawiedliwią sprawiedliwego i potępią niegodziwego.
When there ariseth a controversy between men, and they come nigh unto judgment, and judgment is granted them, then shall they justify the righteous man, and condemn the lawless.
2 A jeśli niegodziwy zasłuży na karę chłosty, to sędzia każe go położyć i w jego obecności bić w liczbie odpowiadającej jego niegodziwości.
And it shall be—if the lawless man be, worthy of stripes, then shall the judge cause him to lie down and be beaten before him, according to the measure of his lawlessness, by number:
3 Może mu wymierzyć czterdzieści razów, ale nie więcej, gdyż przez większą liczbę razów twój brat zostałby wzgardzony w twoich oczach.
forty stripes, may he give him not going beyond, —lest, if he do go beyond to smite him above these, with many stripes, then should thy brother be of no account in thine eyes.
4 Nie zawiążesz pyska młócącemu wołowi.
Thou shalt not muzzle an ox when he is treading out the corn.
5 Jeśli bracia mieszkają razem, a jeden z nich umrze, nie pozostawiając dziecka, żona zmarłego nie wyjdzie za mąż za obcego, lecz brat jej męża wejdzie do niej, pojmie ją sobie za żonę i wypełni wobec niej obowiązek powinowactwa.
When brethren dwell together, and one of them dieth, having, no son, the wife of the dead shall not marry outside to a stranger, —her husband’s brother, shall go in unto her, and take her unto him to wife and do for her as a husband’s brother.
6 A pierworodny [syn], którego ona urodzi, przejmie imię zmarłego brata, aby jego imię nie zginęło z Izraela.
And it shall be, that, the firstborn which she beareth, shall succeed in the name of his brother who is dead, —so shall his name not be wiped out from Israel.
7 A jeśli ten mężczyzna nie zechce pojąć swojej bratowej, to jego bratowa pójdzie do bramy, do starszych, i powie: Brat mego męża nie chce wzbudzić swemu bratu imienia w Izraelu i nie chce wypełnić wobec mnie obowiązku powinowactwa.
But, if the man like not to take his sister-in-law, then shall his sister-in-law go up unto the gate, unto the elders, and say—My husband’s brother hath refused, to raise up unto his brother a name in Israel, he is not willing to do as a husband’s brother unto me.
8 Wtedy starsi miasta przywołają go i przemówią do niego. Jeśli będzie stał przy swoim i powie: Nie chcę jej pojąć [za żonę];
Then shall the elders of his city call him and speak unto him, —and he shall stand and say, I like not to take her.
9 Wówczas jego bratowa podejdzie do niego na oczach starszych, zdejmie mu z nogi jego but, plunie mu w twarz i powie: Tak postępuje się z mężczyzną, który nie chce odbudować domu swego brata.
Then shall his brother’s wife come near unto him in the presence of the elders, and draw his shoe from off his foot, and spit in his face, —and respond and say, Thus shall it be done unto the man who will not build up the house of his brother.
10 I nazwą go w Izraelu: Dom tego, któremu zdjęto but.
And his name shall be called in Israel, —The house of him who had his shoe drawn off.
11 Jeśli dwaj mężczyźni będą się kłócić ze sobą i żona jednego z nich zbliża się, aby wyrwać swego męża z ręki tego, który go bije, i wyciągnie ona rękę, i uchwyci go za wstydliwe części;
When men strive together one with another, and the wife of the one draweth near to deliver her husband out of the hand of him that smiteth him, —and she putteth forth her hand, and seizeth him by his parts of shame,
12 To odetniesz jej rękę, nie zlituje się [nad nią] twoje oko.
then shalt thou cut off her hand, thine eye shall not pity.
13 Nie będziesz miał w swym worku dwojakich odważników, większego i mniejszego.
Thou shalt not have in thy bag divers weights, —a great and a small.
14 Nie będziesz miał w swoim domu dwojakiej efy, większej i mniejszej.
Thou shalt not have in thy house divers measures, —a great and a small.
15 Będziesz miał wagę dokładną i sprawiedliwą, będziesz [też] miał efę dokładną i sprawiedliwą, aby się przedłużyły twoje dni na ziemi, którą daje ci PAN, twój Bóg.
A weight full and just, shalt thou have, a measure full and just, shalt thou have, —that thy days may be prolonged upon the soil which Yahweh thy God is giving unto thee.
16 Gdyż każdy, kto postępuje niesprawiedliwie, budzi odrazę u PANA, twego Boga.
For an abomination unto Yahweh thy God, is every one that doeth these things, —every one that doeth unjustly.
17 Pamiętaj, co ci uczynił Amalek w drodze, kiedy wyszliście z Egiptu;
Remember that which Amalek did unto thee by the way when ye came forth out of Egypt;
18 Jak spotkał cię w drodze i napadł na twoje tyły, na wszystkich słabych [idących] za tobą, gdy byłeś zmęczony i znużony, i nie bał się Boga.
how he encountered thee by the way and cut off in thy rear all the worn-out behind thee, thou thyself, being weary and worn, —how he feared not God.
19 Gdy więc PAN, twój Bóg, da ci odpoczynek od wszystkich twych wrogów dokoła w ziemi, którą PAN, twój Bóg, daje ci w dziedziczne posiadanie, to wymażesz spod nieba pamięć o Amaleku. Nie zapominaj [o tym].
Therefore shall it be when Yahweh thy God hath given thee rest from all thine enemies round about in the land which Yahweh thy God is giving unto thee for an inheritance to possess it, then shalt thou wipe out the remembrance of Amalek from under the heavens, —thou shalt not forget.
