I Koryntian 13

1 Choćbym mówił językami ludzi i aniołów, a miłości bym nie miał, stałbym się [jak] miedź brzęcząca albo cymbał brzmiący.

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not love, (agape) I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

2 I choćbym miał [dar] prorokowania, i znał wszystkie tajemnice, i [posiadał] wszelką wiedzę, i choćbym miał pełnię wiary, tak, żebym góry przenosił, a miłości bym nie miał, byłbym niczym.

And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not love, (agape) I am nothing.

3 I choćbym rozdał na żywność dla [ubogich] cały swój majątek, i choćbym wydał swoje ciało na spalenie, a miłości bym nie miał, nic nie zyskam.

And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not love, (agape) it profits me nothing.

4 Miłość jest cierpliwa, jest życzliwa. Miłość nie zazdrości, nie przechwala się, nie unosi się pychą;

Love (agape) suffers long, and is kind; love (agape) envies not; love (agape) vaunts not itself, is not puffed up,

5 Nie postępuje nieprzyzwoicie, nie szuka swego, nie jest porywcza, nie myśli [nic] złego;

Does not behave itself unseemly, seeks not her own, is not easily provoked, thinks no evil;

6 Nie raduje się z niesprawiedliwości, ale raduje się z prawdy;

Rejoices not in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth;

7 Wszystko znosi, wszystkiemu wierzy, wszystkiego się spodziewa, wszystko przetrzyma.

Bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

8 Miłość nigdy nie ustaje. Bo choć są proroctwa, przeminą; choć języki, ustaną; choć wiedza, obróci się wniwecz.

Love (agape) never fails: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

9 Po części bowiem poznajemy i po części prorokujemy.

For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.

10 Ale gdy przyjdzie to, co doskonałe, wtedy przeminie to, co jest cząstkowe.

But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part shall be done away.

11 Dopóki byłem dzieckiem, mówiłem jak dziecko, rozumiałem jak dziecko, myślałem jak dziecko. Lecz gdy stałem się mężczyzną, zaniechałem tego, co dziecięce.

When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

12 Teraz bowiem widzimy w zwierciadle, niewyraźnie, ale wówczas twarzą w twarz. Teraz poznaję cząstkowo, ale wtedy poznam tak, jak jestem poznany.

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

13 A teraz trwają wiara, nadzieja, miłość, te trzy. Z nich zaś największa jest miłość.

And now abides faith, hope, love, (agape) these three; but the greatest of these is love. (agape)
