Kaznodziei 2
1 Rzekłem ja do serca mego: Nuże teraz doświadczę cię w weselu, używajże dobrych rzeczy; ale i toć marność.
I said in my heart, Come now, I will prove you with mirth, and behold you good: and, behold, this is also vanity.
2 Śmiechowi rzekłem: Szalejesz, a weselu: Cóż to czynisz?
I said to laughter, Madness: and to mirth, Why do you this:
3 Przemyślałem w sercu swem, abym pozwolił wina ciału memu, (serce jednak swoje sprawując mądrością) i abym się trzymał głupstwa dotąd, ażbym obaczył, coby lepszego było synom ludzkim czynić pod niebem, przez wszystkie dni żywota ich.
And I examined whether my heart would excite my flesh as [with] wine, (though my heart guided [me] in wisdom, ) and [I desired] to lay hold of mirth, until I should see of what kind is the good to the sons of men, which they should do under the sun all the days of their life.
4 Wielkiem sprawy wykonał; pobudowałem sobie domy, nasadziłem sobie winnic;
I enlarged my work; I built me houses; I planted me vineyards.
5 Naczyniłem sobie ogrodów, i sadów, i naszczepiłem w nich drzew wszelakiego owocu;
I made me gardens and orchards, and planted in them every kind of fruit tree.
6 Pobudowałem sobie stawy ku odwilżaniu przez nie lasu, w którym rośnie drzewo;
I made me pools of water, to water from them the timber-bearing wood.
7 Nabyłem sobie sług i dziewek, i miałem czeladź w domu moim; do tego i stada wołów, i wielkie trzody owiec miałem nad wszystkich, którzy byli przedemną w Jeruzalemie.
I got servants and maidens, and servants were born to me in the house: also I had abundant possession of flocks and herds, beyond all who were before me in Jerusalem.
8 Zgromadziłem też sobie srebro i złoto, i klejnoty od królów i krain. Sporządziłem też sobie śpiewaków i śpiewaczki, i inne rozkosze synów ludzkich, i muzyczne naczynia rozliczne.
Moreover I collected for myself both silver and gold also, and the peculiar treasures of kings and provinces: I procured me singing men and singing women, and delights of the sons of men, a butler and female cupbearers.
9 A tak stałem się wielkim i możniejszym nad wszystkich, którzy byli przede mną w Jeruzalemie; nadto mądrość moja zostawała przy mnie.
So I became great, and advanced beyond all that were before in Jerusalem: also my wisdom was established to me.
10 A wszystkiego, czego pożądały oczy moje, nie zabraniałem im, anim odmawiał sercu memu żadnego wesela; ale serce moje weseliło się ze wszystkiej pracy mojej. A toć był dział mój ze wszystkiej pracy mojej.
And whatever mine eyes desired, I withheld not from them, I withheld not my heart from all my mirth: for my heart rejoiced in all my labour; and this was my portion of all my labour.
11 Lecz gdym się obejrzał na wszystkie sprawy swoje, które czyniły ręce moje, i na prace, którem podejmował pracując: oto wszystko marność, i utrapienie ducha, i niemasz nic pożytecznego pod słońcem.
And I looked on all my works which my hands had wrought, and on my labour which I laboured to perform: and behold, all was vanity and waywardness of spirit, and there is no advantage under the sun.
12 Przetoż obróciłem się do tego, abym się przypatrywał mądrośći, i szaleństwu, i głupstwu; (bo cóżby człowiek czynił ten, który nastanie po królu? to, co już inni czynili.)
Then I looked on to see wisdom, and madness, and folly: for who is the man who will follow after counsel, in all things where in he employs it?
13 I obaczyłem, iż jest pożyteczniejsza mądrość niżeli głupstwo, tak jako jest pożyteczniejsza światłość, niżeli ciemność.
And I saw that wisdom excels folly, as much as light excels darkness.
14 Mądry ma oczy w głowie swej, ale głupi w ciemnościach chodzi; a wszakżem poznał, że jednakie przygody na wszystkich przychdzą.
The wise man's eyes are in his head; but the fool walks in darkness: and I perceived, even I, that one event shall happen to them all.
15 Dlategom rzekł w sercu mojem: Mali mi się tak dziać, jako się głupiemu dzieje, przeczżem go ja tedy mądrośćią przeszedł? Przetożem rzekł w sercu mojem: I toć jest marność.
And I said in my heart, As the event of the fool is, so shall it be to me, even to me: and to what purpose have I gained wisdom? I said moreover in my heart, This is also vanity, because the fool speaks of his abundance.
16 Albowiem nie na wieki będzie pamiątki mądrego i głupiego, dlatego, iż to, co teraz jest, we dni przyszłe wszystkiego zapomną; a jako umiera mądry, tak i głupi.
For there is no remembrance of the wise man with the fool for ever; forasmuch as now [in] the coming days all things are forgotten: and how shall the wise man die with the fool?
17 Przetoż mi żywot omierzł; bo mi się nie podoba żadna rzecz, która się dzieje pod słońcem; albowiem wszystkie są marnością, i utrapieniem ducha.
So I hated life; because the work that was wrought under the sun was evil before me: for all is vanity and waywardness of spirit.
18 Nawet omierzła mi i wszystka praca moja, którąm podejmował pod słońcem, przeto, że ją zostawić muszę człowiekowi, który nastanie po mnie.
And I hated the whole of my labour which I took under the sun; because I must leave it to the man who will come after me.
19 A kto wie, będzieli mądrym, czyli głupim? a wszakże będzie panował nad wszystką pracą moją, którąm prowadził, i w którejm był mądry pod słońcem. Aleć i to marność.
And who knows whether he will be a wise [man] or a fool? and whether he will have power over all my labour in which I laboured, and wherein I grew wise under the sun? this is also vanity.
20 I przypadłem na to, abym zwątpił w sercu mojem o wszystkiej pracy, którąm się mądrze bawił pod słońcem.
so I went about to dismiss from my heart all my labour wherein I had laboured under the sun.
21 Nie jeden zaiste człowiek pracuje mądrze, i umiejętnie, i sprawiedliwie; a wszakże to innemu, który nie robił na to, za dział zostawi. I toć marność i wielka bieda.
For there is [such] a man that his labour is in wisdom, and in knowledge, and in fortitude; [yet] this man shall give his portion to one who has not laboured therein. This is also vanity and great evil.
22 Bo cóż ma człowiek ze wszystkiej pracy swej, i z usiłowania serca swego, które podejmuje pod słońcem?
For it happens to a man in all his labour, and in the purpose of his heart wherein he labours under the sun.
23 Ponieważ wszystkie dni jego są bolesne, a zabawa jego jest frasunek, tak iż i w nocy nie odpoczywa serce jego. I toć jest marność.
For all his days [are days] of sorrows, and vexation of spirit is his; in the night also his heart rests not. This is also vanity.
24 Izali nie lepsza człowiekowi, aby jadł i pił, i dobrze uczynił duszy swojej z pracy swojej? alemci widział, że i to z ręki Bożej pochodzi.
A man has nothing [really] good to eat, and to drink, and to show his soul [as] good in his trouble. This also I saw, that it is from the hand of God.
25 Albowiem któżby słuszniej miał jeść, i pożywać tego nad mię?
For who shall eat, or who shall drink, without him?
26 Bo człowiekowi, który mu się podoba, daje mądrość, umiejętność, i wesele; ale grzesznikowi daje frasunek, aby zbierał i zgromadzał, coby zostawił temu, który się podoba Bogu. I toć jest marność, a utrapienie ducha.
For [God] has given to the man who is good in his sight, wisdom, and knowledge, and joy: but he has given to the sinner trouble, to add and to heap up, that he may give to him that is good before God; for this is also vanity and waywardness of spirit.
