تیطس 1

۱ 1 پولس، غلام خدا و رسول عیسی مسیح برحسب ایمان برگزیدگان خدا و معرفت آن راستی که در دینداری است،

Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God’s chosen ones and the knowledge of the truth which is according to godliness,

۲ 2 به امید حیات جاودانی که خدایی که دروغ نمی تواند گفت، اززمانهای ازلی وعده آن را داد، (aiōnios g166)

in hope of eternal life, which God, who can’t lie, promised before time began; (aiōnios g166)

۳ 3 اما در زمان معین، کلام خود را ظاهر کرد به موعظه‌ای که برحسب حکم نجات‌دهنده ما خدا به من سپرده شد،

but in his own time revealed his word in the message with which I was entrusted according to the commandment of God our Saviour,

۴ 4 تیطس را که فرزند حقیقی من برحسب ایمان عام است، فیض و رحمت و سلامتی از جانب خدای پدرو نجات‌دهنده ما عیسی مسیح خداوند باد.

to Titus, my true child according to a common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour.

۵ 5 بدین جهت تو را در کریت واگذاشتم تا آنچه را که باقی‌مانده است اصلاح نمایی و چنانکه من به تو امر نمودم، کشیشان در هر شهر مقرر کنی.

I left you in Crete for this reason, that you would set in order the things that were lacking and appoint elders in every city, as I directed you—

۶ 6 اگر کسی بی‌ملامت و شوهر یک زن باشد که فرزندان مومن دارد، بری از تهمت فجور و تمرد،

if anyone is blameless, the husband of one wife, having children who believe, who are not accused of loose or unruly behaviour.

۷ 7 زیرا که اسقف می‌باید چون وکیل خدابی ملامت باشد و خودرای یا تندمزاج یا میگساریا زننده یا طماع سود قبیح نباشد،

For the overseer must be blameless, as God’s steward, not self-pleasing, not easily angered, not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for dishonest gain;

۸ 8 بلکه مهمان دوست و خیردوست و خرداندیش و عادل ومقدس و پرهیزکار؛

but given to hospitality, a lover of good, sober minded, fair, holy, self-controlled,

۹ 9 و متمسک به کلام امین برحسب تعلیمی که یافته تا بتواند به تعلیم صحیح نصیحت کند و مخالفان را توبیخ نماید.

holding to the faithful word which is according to the teaching, that he may be able to exhort in the sound doctrine, and to convict those who contradict him.

۱۰ 10 زیرا که یاوه‌گویان و فریبندگان، بسیار ومتمرد می‌باشند، علی الخصوص آنانی که از اهل ختنه هستند؛

For there are also many unruly men, vain talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision,

۱۱ 11 که دهان ایشان را باید بست زیراخانه‌ها را بالکل واژگون می‌سازند و برای سودقبیح، تعالیم ناشایسته می‌دهند.

whose mouths must be stopped: men who overthrow whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for dishonest gain’s sake.

۱۲ 12 یکی از ایشان که نبی خاص ایشان است، گفته است که «اهل کریت همیشه دروغگو و وحوش شریر وشکم پرست بی‌کاره می‌باشند.»

One of them, a prophet of their own, said, “Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, and idle gluttons.”

۱۳ 13 این شهادت راست است؛ از این جهت ایشان را به سختی توبیخ فرما تا در ایمان، صحیح باشند،

This testimony is true. For this cause, reprove them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith,

۱۴ 14 و گوش نگیرند به افسانه های یهود و احکام مردمانی که ازراستی انحراف می‌جویند.

not paying attention to Jewish fables and commandments of men who turn away from the truth.

۱۵ 15 هرچیز برای پاکان پاک است، لیکن آلودگان و بی‌ایمانان را هیچ‌چیزپاک نیست، بلکه فهم و ضمیر ایشان نیز ملوث است؛

To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure; but both their mind and their conscience are defiled.

۱۶ 16 مدعی معرفت خدا می‌باشند، اما به افعال خود او را انکار می‌کنند، چونکه مکروه ومتمرد هستند و بجهت هر عمل نیکو مردود.

They profess that they know God, but by their deeds they deny him, being abominable, disobedient, and unfit for any good work.
